what are you listening to right now?

Listening to "Autobahn" by Kraftwerk. That's some 70s/80s pioneer electronic music band who did some groundbreaking work on the field of synthesizer music, but I'm really not enjoying their music much. Just listening to it because it seems everyone was/ is so impressed by their work, so it's kind of mandatory education for everyone to know that band.

I like to listen to some hard rock; it sometimes depends, though, on whether my wife is trying to sleep or not!

Dreams of an Absolution, Silver's theme from the game Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

Different genre than I normally listen to. Don't think I'd normally care for it, but I do like this song. A lot.

questdriven:

Sounds interesting; I'll have to check it out! Not sure what to think of the doctrinal idea behind 'absolution', as the word is often used; but I'll check it out! :)

Blessings.

Well, it's not a Christian song. But yeah.
The lyrics were meant to fit a specific character in, and the storyline of, a video game.

Shooting Star, by Owl City

Hi questdriven:

Yes, Adam Young from Owl City has a style of his own, doesn't he?

Far from hard rock, of course.

Blessings.

But very pleasant to listen to all the same. :)

questdriven:

Oh yes, I agree! :)

But, then, you also think Christian hard rock is also very pleasant to listen to, right?

Blessings.
Technically, I guess, since I enjoy it, but I enjoy it for somewhat different reasons.

questdriven:

Well, this is interesting anyway. Like, you and your mom probably share broadly similar spiritual appreciation but in terms of the aesthetics of the Christian hard rock that you enjoy, you have successfully developed a far greater capacity to enjoy it than she has, for example.

So anyhow it's interesting that you have your specific reasons for enjoying, and wanting to enjoy, Christian hard rock.

(It's an absorbing subject, musical appreciation.)

Blessings.

PS: But yes, Owl City is pleasant to listen to, kind of more like background music, I guess.

Blessings.

A video I made in my truck

I'm listening to Skillet right now. Monster is on.

Edward:

I've heard Skillet's Monster. It can be interpreted as the thinking of someone who understands the presence of indwelling sin and recognizes the need of conversion to the Savior.

I sometimes wish such lyrics were a little more overt, though.

Blessings.

I know what you mean and I'm gaining respect fast for the more overt lyrics lately. Disciple is great at overt lyrics! They are in your face with them and it sounds great!

Edward: Yes, Disciple's 'Battle Lines' has a very clear testimony in its lyrics, with a lot of Bible references.

Blessings.

Battle Lines? I'm off to youtube! lol.

Edward:

Yes, it was questdriven, who has very much expert knowledge of Christian hard rock, who first put me onto the track. I think you'll agree it has very Biblical lyrics and can make a vivid and profound impression.

Blessings.
