what are you listening to right now?

Listening to "Autobahn" by Kraftwerk. That's some 70s/80s pioneer electronic music band who did some groundbreaking work on the field of synthesizer music, but I'm really not enjoying their music much. Just listening to it because it seems everyone was/ is so impressed by their work, so it's kind of mandatory education for everyone to know that band.
 
I like to listen to some hard rock; it sometimes depends, though, on whether my wife is trying to sleep or not!

Dreams of an Absolution, Silver's theme from the game Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

Different genre than I normally listen to. Don't think I'd normally care for it, but I do like this song. A lot.

Well, it's not a Christian song. But yeah.
The lyrics were meant to fit a specific character in, and the storyline of, a video game.

Well, this is interesting anyway. Like, you and your mom probably share broadly similar spiritual appreciation but in terms of the aesthetics of the Christian hard rock that you enjoy, you have successfully developed a far greater capacity to enjoy it than she has, for example.

So anyhow it's interesting that you have your specific reasons for enjoying, and wanting to enjoy, Christian hard rock.

(It's an absorbing subject, musical appreciation.)

I've heard Skillet's Monster. It can be interpreted as the thinking of someone who understands the presence of indwelling sin and recognizes the need of conversion to the Savior.

I sometimes wish such lyrics were a little more overt, though.

I know what you mean and I'm gaining respect fast for the more overt lyrics lately. Disciple is great at overt lyrics! They are in your face with them and it sounds great!

Edward: Yes, Disciple's 'Battle Lines' has a very clear testimony in its lyrics, with a lot of Bible references.
