Battle Cry, by Skillet

Good lyrics.

Not sure just how accurate this lyric video is. I'm listening to the song on my computer.

A friend of mine showed me the clean version (show above) of this song today. (The uncensored version has some vulgar language in it, so I never actually listened to this song before today.)
For some reason, the lyrics really make me think of a western or something. xD
So yeah, just one of the secular songs I can now enjoy.
Okay, so I heard that this song--You're Gonna Go Far Kid, by the Offspring--was actually based off of the the Lord of the Flies storyline. Interesting, because I read that book just a few months ago.

Yes, we do need to be careful about the presence of bad language.

Christians buying Christian music need to be able to have confidence about the character of what it is they are going to listen to.

Blessings.

I'm pretty sure this particular band isn't Christian, but yeah.

Anyway, looking at the lyrics in the song and having read Lord of the Flies, it really does sound like the song is talking about it. At the very least, it's a fitting song for that particular story. If you pay close attention to the lyrics, they appear to be about the abuse of power.

(Lord of the Flies was a good book, although it is a sad story.)

I think the William Golding guy who wrote it got himself the Nobel Prize, or something, and a British knighthood...

Blessings.

He sure is. This is actually a Nine Inch Nails song and Johnny Cash did it better than the original. I heard the NIN version of youtube after Johnny and thought he did as a cover from JC, but it was the other way around I found out.

A good tune!

Edward:

I know what you mean. Abba's track: 'Like an angel passing through my room', is good, but when Madonna did a version of it, it was outstandingly good. (You do have to watch Madonna sometimes in that some of her preferred lyrics aren't so great.)

Blessings.

Same thing with All Along The Watchtower. It was a Bob Dylan tune but Jimi did it so much better than Bob he just gave it to Jimi! Some may think that's a bad thing, and not possible to do a song better than the original version but I think it's the mark of a fine musician.

Kind of makes for some interesting theorizing about authorship, anyway... :)

Oh okay, more music, maybe clothes, but not black lipstick, mascara, etc.

People even used to talk about the Gothic novel, I think.

PS: Not boring...

Anime music. Go fig.

Hi questdriven:

So would you happen to describe Fullmetal Alchemist here as heavy metal, or more like soft rock?

Blessings.

FMA (Fullmetal Alchemist) is an anime. (My favorite anime, too!) The name does sound like a band, though. xD

The music in FMA is Japanese since it was originally made in Japan. Not sure what genre it would be qualified as. This video here is an English dub made by a fan.

Thanks for the explanation!

So, heard any good quality Christian hard rock lately, maybe?

I do like the old hymns as well.

Blessings.

NP.

Not really, other than Skillet's new album. Which is great, BTW. I do kinda wish some of the songs had a bit of a harder sound than they do, but definitely worth the money.

Oh yes, the new Skillet album; I had forgotten.

Interesting, so you think some of the tracks are a bit more like soft rock, do you? whereas you feel that you want sound Christian lyrics in hard rock?

Like, maybe, more percussion and bass guitar, etc?

I know you sort of said a while back that hard rock really does something for you, anyway.

Blessings.

Seems they tend to experiment a little with style. They do have some soft songs, that's been the case for years now. Like this quote I saw from a review of the album, Skillet "isn't one to rest on their laurels". They tried quite a few new elements with the music in this album.

I have a friend who likes to play the Ocarina. I'm not sure where they originally came from, but I'm guessing most people who do know about them know about them from the Legend of Zelda games.

Ah, so someone has heard of them. I used to fool around with a recorder eons ago. I played Zelda about 2000 years ago too and don't remember an ocarina in it. Was that an ocarina playing the background theme music in Zelda?
I can play a Jews Harp pretty good, lol.

Here's Another Brick in The Wall with a twist. They do a good job on it methinks! It reminds me of the time I heard AC/DC's Dirty Deeds on elevator muzak once!

Link plays an Ocarina in some of the games from more recent years, the ones on the Wii, I think.
