What Bible character do you most identify with?

Peter, because he denied Jesus 3 times but in the end Gods undying love showed him the Truth and the Way so that he ended up fighting tooth and nail for our Faith and our Lord ultimately dying for his devotion to Christ

Yes, and his two, short Epistles are among the most searching — and encouraging — of the New Testament books, too.

Some interesting choices so far. The most interesting, if I can use the word, is Thomas, because I would not have thought that Thomas would be regarded as an actual role model by anyone. (The question wasn't strictly about role models.)

I'm working on a book where I look at Thomas and put forward the case that he has been misrepresented through history and that we all should be a bit like Thomas.

That aside, I just see many things in him that I see in myself

I felt it especially poignant when I was in the midst of losing my faith.

Well, Hebrews 11 does apply:

'Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.' The question arises, are we diligently seeking Him?

I love the writer to the Hebrews, whoever he was. (He is one of the Bible's characters that is not named.)

I did what I could in the diligence department, it was not enough to date. This is why I found the passage from Job to speak to me more poignantly than the author of Hebrews.

For me probably Esther as she was a devout Jewish women who stood on her belief in God and was willing to lay her own life down for her compassion on her people. Esther was steadfast and unmovable, being instructed by God she brought Gods people out from under those who wanted to persecute them to death. I can see myself walking in her shoes.

Thanks Elijah, and how did John the Baptist see things?
Two things:

His statement, "Repent, the kingdom of heaven is at hand," is what I keep telling people, because I know that when I resist temptation, I am worry free.

Second, he didn't have any sympathy for social climbing. He saw it for what it really was - the sin of pride.

Amen! Thank you Elijah for clarifying, and I like the scripture in your signature line. ;)
