What can absolutely replace electricity?

What can absolutely replace electricity?

5 ninja squirrels in a hamster wheel.

jk :p

If it all happens, y'all can come and make your way to our place...we don't live "off the grid" but we could if need be.

Can you shoot a lion?
The united kingdom is well known for it's wild roaming aggressive lions I shoot them frequently it's necessary evil to stop them hunting our cattle and stealing our children.

We also have dragons over here but it's better to just avoid those.

Should it happen, I'll let you know which side of which mountain in Idaho to come to.

hmmm...how to do it without electricity and therefore no message boards and email...

We don't have any trained pigeons...but, I am getting some chickens later this spring. I'll train the chickens to be carrier chickens and send the co-ordinates of our particular mountainside to y'all via them.

Pebbles, I'll have to do some extra training so that my carrier chickens can elude your British lions.

Can we still live without it today?
Absolutely! Come visit some of my Amish neighbors. They use no electricity and no internal combustion motors. Everything is done by human, sun, wind, water, or beast power.

We were out of town over Christmas weekend and came back on Monday evening to discover that our well motor burned up. Had to wait until Tuesday for the well driller to come. In the meantime we found out real quick how valuable water is to our livestock and ourselves and how much we used. Was a rude awakening.

I was watching a program once about future weapons of war and one that really caught my attention was one that would have the ability to kill the electric grid over a large area such as a city. Imagine the chaos, if an enemy could instantly extinguish all electricity over the northeastern US in January. No lights, no heat, no cook stoves, no water. The handful that would be able to manage with a few camping supplies might become very powerful or endangered indeed. By the time the area could rebound most would be dead from dehydration and frostbite.

You are right. 5 ninja squirrels should do. Connect them in series, add few things - DC current;)

Yeah.

I was close to saying 'among all the countires in the world Amerca can't survive it'. Americans would be most affected.

You remember what happened some years ago when there was a sudden power failure.

You will be if the world ever loses the power grid!

I've been fairly lightheated about this thread, but there is one rather serious thought....

Should the world lose the power grid, I think folks who live in places like around here (hillbillies) would adjust fairly well...most of us raise a fair amount of our own food, many know how to preserve meat and veggies via smoking, jerking and canning. The biggest issue would be water, but with Squaw Creek running through the valley, I think even that would be overcome. During the winter we all have our own fireplaces so we wouldn't freeze to death.

But, mainly, we all know each other, we all get along fairly well, and "neighbor helping neighbor" is what we do anyway.

However, I do believe that in the cities...survival of the fittest mentality would take over because necessities can only be purchased through stores and stuff...I really don't want to live in a city if such a thing were to occur...even with lion eluding carrier chickens.

EM pulse over a few strategic cities and it could shut down 1/2 of the country instanty. :shocked!
