It is a fact that the SDA are the cult and are not biblicaly accurate at all, based on the teachings of a lady who was shown many time over to be false profit.

There are many different types of groups that go under the title "Baptist Church".

There are the "Southern Baptists", the "Bible Baptists","Reformed Baptists",Conservative baptists","Full Gospel Baptists","Regular baptists", "Free Will Baptists","Primative Baptists","Seventh Day Baptists","Charismatic Baptists", "Landmark Baptists", "Liberal Baptists" so many. Which of them are you referring to when you use the term "Baptist"?

Did you know the SDA started out as 7th day 'BAPTISTS?' This post is just tooooooo funny.

evanman: I said I live in the south, so I was talking about southern baptists. Of course. I also imagine that all kinds of baptists attend all kinds of baptists churches. So theres no telling how many types of people that are around. There are just so many churches. So I'm not saying all baptists are cults, or cult-like, but where I am they are. non debateable.

Jason: i didn't know that, or if thats a fact or not, but its not the name that is important. I'm glad you thought my post was funny.

The only thing many Baptists ‘may’ have in common with cults is the tendency to be separatists. Baptist’s are known for condemning sin and heresy and will separate themselves from those who are perceived as being in sin or teaching heresy.

Is that what you mean?

Of course Baptists are people and can be a little over board by creating schism with legitimate Christian churches, but it's the thought that counts.

j
PS: Miller, the father of the SDA Church was a baptist. To bad he went bad. :robot:

Thats not really what I mean Jason. They may do those things, but thats not neccesarily what makes them a cult. Again, I'm not claiming that all baptists are a cult, or that only the baptist church can be a cult. I do believe many churches, and many "churches" are/can be cults or cultish, cult-like.

Of course Baptists are people and can be a little over board...

overboard is right. some fly right off the ship at a moments notice.

PS: Miller, the father of the SDA church was a baptist.

If thats true, glad to know he changed.

To bad he went bad. :robot:

Glad to know he came to his senses.

Isn't it true that in the SDA church, at baptism, you have to swear not to drink coffee or smoke? Isn't it also true that you have to accept the writtings of Ellen White as 'on par' with the Bible? Isn't it also true that you can not attend a Sunday worship service? Why yes, it is all true. Sounds more like a cult then ANY baptists I've ever run into. (I have a friend who is a pastor in an SDA church, Canada)

Your friendly baptist cult member,

j

Jason, I have been waiting for this for a couple of days now. I want to talk about why he thinks Southern Baptists are a cult or even cultish. All I see so far are accusations with no examples or evidence. I want to see cult doctrine, statement of faith that is not Christian norm, weird practices and ordinances that are not Biblical. Until he can produce them, this is a silly argument.

Jason: No, to my knowledge no. No SDA church that I ever attended ever did those things. You are just trying to find a reason to call them a cult. Even if they DID do those things, they still wouldn't be a real cult. But none of the SDA churches I have attended or heard of made someone swear to certain things.

However you live in canada, Jason, so maybe its different there?

I have also said before, that I do not neccesarily believe or agree on everthing with them. Politics, Certain activities or practices, etc.

As for caffeine and smoking: Caffiene in excess is not healthy, smoking is unhealthy. To smoke is to harm the temple of your soul. Do you disagree?

About Ellen G. White: No SDA church i ever attened(about 5 different ones) never made anyone to swear that ellen white is onpar with the Bible, or that she is a phrophetess(sp?). Some do believe she is, I am undecided.

As for sunday worship: No, you can worship anytime, but it is clear that sundown friday to sundown saturday is God's sabbath. You can go to church on sunday sure. But to replace God's sabbath with a counterfeight one, is considerecd by some sdas the mark of the beast. I lean that way.

________

Vic: 1: Noone has shown that the SDAs are a real cult.
2: Therefore, I have no reason to debate the issue formally.
3: noone even cares, they will not changes opinions no matter what.
4: If someone can prove that SDAs in the vast majority are a cult, I will then attempt my debate at why they are not, and why others are/can be.
5: You do not want to really consider anything other than your own beliefs opinions, you really want me to give my reasons/beliefs/debates so you can rush in and "defeat" me so to speak. No offence BTW.
6: This is a silly arguement.
7: It should not be, this topic is for asking "what church do you attend?" Henry started this silly arguement.
8: Have a nice day.

Nice try, right after 9/11 I had my SDA friends try to tell me White predicted it.

HaHaHa, Nostrodomas predicted that too!
Sorry, no he didn't. That is old news and was a hoax.

Email Hoaxers Say Nostradamus
Predicted US Attacks
9-14-1

PARIS (AFP) - Watchers of the French soothsayer Nostradamus were up in arms Friday after two hoax e-mails circulated around the world declaring he had predicted the terror attacks on the United States and that these presaged World War III.

"There are a number of spurious and bogus prophecies of Nostradamus surfacing," John Hogue, author of numerous books on the 16th-century doctor and astrologist, said on his website.

"These frauds are mixing lines out of context from several authentic Nostradamus quatrains with phrases that are complete fabrications. Do not believe them," he said.

I started another thread in this forum called 'SDA vs other religions' because this thread I feel that it is going off topic. If a mod wants to bring my thread in here that is ok with me.
