What commandments are in force FOREVER?

Hopefully all reading will stick with it to the end to answer (2) simple questions. Thanks!

ALL of God's commandments are still to be obeyed. We can see that with the statement Jesus made Himself, "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Matt. 5:18

Let's go back to the OT and see how long these Laws, commandments and statues were to be obeyed.

Ex. 31 [16] Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
[17] It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: The Sabbath, FOREVER!

Now let's look at some of the other commandments God said would last forever.

Ex. 12 [13] And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
[14] And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. The Passover, FOREVER!

Ex. 12 [17] And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt:
Lev. 23 [15] And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
[16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
[21] And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. The Feast of Weeks in the OT aka Pentecost in the NT, FOREVER!

Lev. 23 [27] Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
[28] And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
[31] Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. The Day of Atonement, FOEVER!

Lev. 23 [34] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.
[35] On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
[41] And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
The Feast of Tabernacles, FOREVER!

Now let's look at one more set of God's laws.

Deut. 14 [3] Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
[6] And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
[8] And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

Lev. 11 [27] And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.
[29] These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,

And were these laws, commandments and statues just for the nations of Israel? Let's read:

Lev. 24 [22] Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.

So not only were God's laws for the nation of Israel, they were for ALL that joined themselves to worship the God of Israel.

Now let's move ahead to a future time. Let’s look at the 2nd coming of Christ, and see if these laws are still to be obeyed, and what would be Christ actions toward those that disobeyed when He returns,

Is. 66 [15] For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

[16] For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

This is the time of Christ return. For the Lord will plead with ALL flesh and the slain of the Lord shall be many. Now let's look at some of the ones that will be slain.

[17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

So those that sanctify themselves, or set themselves apart, not by God, and eat SWINE'S FLESH and the ABOMINATION and the MOUSE, shall be consumed at the 2nd coming of the Lord. Now my question, is, "Why would Christ, at His 2nd coming, consume those that eat SWINE and MICE?"

If the dietary laws were done away with and nailed on the cross, why is God punishing these people? Looks like when God said it was an abomination, it truly was an abomination. And they remained an abomination even, AFTER, Christ died and returned to be with the Father. For what other reason can there be for them being consumed? If there is a reason that can be supported by scriptures, please let me know with Chap, and verse.

Let's read more.

Is. 66 [23] And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

So now we see that God's Sabbath will still be enforce at the 2nd coming of Christ also. He did say it was to be a perpetual covenant.

And just in case someone reading does not think this is at the 2nd coming of Christ let's read the next verse:

Is. 66 [24] And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

I don't think I have to tell you were these poor people are.

I have one more place to go:

Zech.14
[1] Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
[2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
[3] Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
[4] And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Again, this is speaking about the 2nd coming of Christ. Let's read on:

Zech.14 [16] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

So now we see, just as in the day's when God gave these laws to the nation of Israel, from year to year ALL nations shall to to worship and keep the feast of TABERNACLES!!

Let's read more:

[17] And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
[18] And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[19] This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

And if these nation do not observe the Feast of Tabernacles they will be punished.

Now in ANY of the above scriptures did it say that God would ONLY punish the NATION OF ISRAEL for not obeying His Laws, commandments and statutes? No it did not! This is what it said: "the LORD plead with ALL flesh", "THEY that sanctify THEMSELVES", "shall ALL flesh come to worship before me", "the MEN that have transgressed against me", "of ALL the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.", “eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together.â€Â

Truly God is, "...no respecter of persons:", Acts 10:34

Let's review:

1. The very last blessing in the bible is given to those that keep God's commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life. Rev. 22

[14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

2. God said that His laws, commandments and statutes were to be observed FOREVER! God also said that there were things that were an abomination to Him. And I listed some of them, His Sabbaths, Feast Days and Dietary Laws!

Ex. 31 [16] Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
[17] It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever. Sabbath, Forever!
[41] And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
The Feast of Tabernacles, FOREVER!
Deut. 14 [3] Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
[8] And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.
Lev. 11 [29] These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,

3. And finally at Christ 2nd coming we find there are those that are punished for their transgressions.

Is.66 [17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
Zach.14 [18] And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

[19] This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

(2) simple questions:

1) Why would Christ, at His 2nd coming, consume those that eat SWINE and MICE? If the dietary laws were done away with and nailed on the cross, why is God punishing these people?

2) If we no longer have to keep Gods feast days why are ALL the nations of the earth keep the Feast of Tabernacles and having punishment if they do not?

Now these are pretty stiff consequences for something that was supposed to be 'nailed to the cross'.

The information is here for all of those who are reading to make up their own minds.

Notice what the scriptures says, but more importantly, WHO, it is speaking about:

“ Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.†Rom. 14:1

So we know that Paul is talking about those that are weak in the faith, babes in the word. Let’s read on:

"One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.", Rom. 14:5.

Again, Paul is talking about those who have not fully been persuaded in the word of God. Just as all of us once were.
Some are babes in the word and don't fully understand the whole word of God. You may think you may not have to keep Gods laws, others may think they do.

I, for one, was once a babe. But after reading, studying and researching, I am FULLY persuaded that God meant just what He said and that His laws, commandments and statutes are to be obeyed forever.

I truly hope this has shed some light on the topic for all that will read this topic.

If you are an orthodox Jew, yes you are still under the 10 commandments. Since they choose not to accept grace, they are still under the law. Also anyone who is not saved, is under condemnation of the law. Since the Law came not to save, but unto the revelation of sin.

However if you are a Christian Jew, or Gentile saved by grace, you are not subject to the Law. You are under Grace, does this mean you can sin, and ignore Gods righteousness, as Paul said "God Forbid".

Grace has only one commandment, "As I have loved ye, also ye love one another". And of course the first one.

I have always been confused about what to follow. Is it just the 10 commandments or is there other laws we still need to follow since the ten commandments do not cover every sin.

If you are in Christ, and his love abides in you, the law has been fulfilled in your heart. James gave the answer: Jas:2:8: If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.

If a man truly loves his neighbor, he will commit no wrong against him. Thereby; has he fulfilled all the Law.

As far as some contend, about the Sabbath. This a perpetual covenant between God, and Israel. Not applied to the Gentiles.

Thanks for all of the views and replies, but again these (2) questions are the ones I would like the forum to answer:

(2) simple questions:

Is. 66 [15] For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
[16] For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
[17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

Question 1:
Why would Christ, at His 2nd coming, consume those that eat SWINE and MICE? If the dietary laws were done away with and nailed on the cross, why is God punishing these people?

(I also did not see any difference between Jews or Christains, the scriptures simply stated; 'the slain of the Lord shall be many' and 'they that'.)

Zech.14 [16] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[17] And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

[19] This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Question (2):
If we no longer have to keep the feast days why did God start it again? Or did they ever stop having to be observed in the first place?

(Again it should be noted that the punishment was to ALL the nations and ALL the families of the earth that did nnot keep the Feast of Tabernacles.)

Do these questions raise any eyebrows? They should!!!!!

So are you saying that God has (1) set of rules for Jews and another set for Gentiles to follow and yet we ALL receive the same reward?

Wouldn't that go against the scriptures?

Acts.10
[34] Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

Is that fair? Would you as a parent impose such standards on YOUR children! (Assuming of course you have kids!)

Just think about Judement Day; A Jew goes before God and because he did not keep the Sabbath, he is condemmed. A Gentile goes before God and is forgiven.

According to the scriptures there is one law for all:

Exod.12
[49] One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Num.15
[16] One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.

Just someting to think about!

If you're going to abide by the Law, trusting that you can keep The Law for your salvation, instead of accepting the Grace of God through Jesus Christ then yes, those are the laws you will have to keep forever.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, but my questions are:

Question 1:

Don't you think this is a valid question? I know I would want to know the answer if I ate Pork!

Question (2):
If we no longer have to keep the feast days why did God start it again? If God said they were to be obeyed forever, when were they done away with? And why must ALL nations and ALL families comply with this law after Christ returns?

Again, these questions are not whether I believe you have to keep Gods law. The question is why are people being punished for breaking what many say has been nailed to the cross.

Thanks!

Isaiah 66 is referring to Gods judgment against both unbelieving Jew, and Gentile. It has nothing to do with the believer, of either Jew or Gentile.

Zechariah 14 - is speaking about the time during Christ reign on earth, during the Millennium (1000 years). When all will revert back to the old principles, of sacrifice and law. During that time all will have to abide by it, both Jew and Gentile.

The present fulfillment of law, is only to believers. Paul said in Romans those under the law, will be judged by the law, those not under law will be judged, without law. But both have to answer to the wages of sin, which is death.

"They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves"

I believe this is in reference to the heathen, the pagan. They would keep the law, though it's their own law, to "sanctify themselves, and purify themselves".
Again, those that believe that keeping the Law will save them will be judged by the law. No way around that. If you're going to have the faith in yourself then don't eat pork.

"I believe..."
We all have beliefs, but does the scriptures mention anything reference to heathens or pagans?

Who said anytihng about the 'Law' or 'Faith'? There is no mention of 'keeping any "Laws", whose law it is, nor having any 'Faith". And I saw no distinction about Jews verse pagans or heathans.

The scripture is pretty simple:

[17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

And the answer too is simple: Why will God consume them?

Why? Because they did not have faith in Christ, the new covenant.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Did Jesus die so people could eat pork? Does that mean as long as we don't kill them ourselves we can eat people? Was Noah a Jew?

Which one are you Rick? An Israelite or a Jew? Does Jeremiah 31 remove the law?

"Christian Jew?" The term is Messianic. So then if a saved gentile can't sin what's the standard? Love God love neighbor? That's Old Testament, not New.

Grace has only one commandment, "As I have loved ye, also ye love one another". And of course the first one.

Old Covenant Samuel.

Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I [am] the LORD.

The Law was fulfilled, not abolished. We've been through this very subject over and over again in other parts of the site.
If you believe keeping the Law is your salvation then you'll be judged by the law. You're either under the law or under grace.
I have to get to work. That's one law I'm presently concerned with :D

I had a conversation once with an atheist, along these same lines. He could not understand how God could condemn anyone. I traded posts with him for ever so long, then the answer struck me.

So I told him, suppose you were driving along a highway, where there was a speed limit sign 55mph. You see the sign, but choose to ignore it, and drive 70mph. Soon you hear a siren, and see a blue light, its the law. So the officer pulls you over, and writes you a ticket.

Now you have to appear in front of the judge. He finds you guilty, by what law, the sign of course. You now pay the penalty, for breaking the law of that sign.

Now let me ask, did the officer condemn you, or the judge; NO. You condemned yourself, when you choose to ignore that sign, posted in plain sight, so you have no excuse.

Now what is Gods sign, his son Jesus Christ, if you trust and obey that sign, you pay no penalty. But if you choose to ignore Christ, the penalty is already stated, death. For the wages of sin is death, but life is in the Son, Jesus Christ.

Here is the verses that makes this sign clear.

Joh:3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh:3:17: For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh:3:18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

No kidding!

If you believe keeping the Law is your salvation then you'll be judged by the law. You're either under the law or under grace.

If one believes the "law" is their salvation does that indicate a problem with the "law" or those observing it?

I have to get to work. That's one law I'm presently concerned with :D

Enjoy your day.

Jesus is the Judge that offers to pay the fine associated with the ticket that the officer gives out for speeding. Does that mean we can continue to speed because we have a Judge that pays the fine? Is someone pardoned by the governor for a crime allowed to continue to commit the crime he was pardoned for?

Jesus didn't die so people could eat pork.
