Growth What Did You Learn In Church Today?

It's the same at mine
sometimes i think why even bother going Sunday night . i cut my teeth on evangelistic preaching spirit filled services .if the spirit moved and one followed the lead it was a great service ..today 3 songs a special then preach end of the message bathroom break lol <sarcasm >

I learned a new song - "All My Hope is in Jesus" (a southern baptist type version). I know its not much but its better than nothing.

Well today in church I got baptized and I learned what a wonderful feeling it is and I was worried for nothing because other than the assurance of God's love for me and my salvation, I'm still basically my same old goofy self lol :lol I was baptized out of my sins, I didn't get any of my marbles back in exchange of it though. :hysterical

This morning in church the importance of prayer was discussed along with thanking the Lord for our blessings as well as thanking Him for getting us through rough times. :cross

Today I learned in church that God is always looking at your heart and you should always find a way to make your relationship with Him stronger. :cross

Today I learned a wonderful lesson and I do believe that's exactly why God was calling me to come to church this morning. Today was all about showing love to one another and always being there for each other since as God's children that's what we are all called to do. However, the most important lesson I learned, (since I basically knew all of that already) that having a relationship with the Lord isn't supposed to be easy like I originally expected it to be, but just like any loving relationship, it is worth it. :biggrin

That is something that I really needed to hear this morning and I'm so glad that I went and heard it. We also sang this song at the end of the service which is one of my most favorite songs in the whole entire world that I sung quite a bit after getting saved and getting baptized. It's so powerful and it always manages to give me goosebumps.

I have just been reading a thread that is so judgemental.
You have lifted my heart up again April. :hug

I'm glad. I'm not sure whether or not you listened to that song, but it always reminds me that no matter what kind of problems I'm going through, there's absolutely nothing that's more powerful than our Lord and Savior. Not even the devil himself. And I know that there is no problem that I have that is too big for the Lord to handle if I just come to Him and seek guidance and pray for the strength to face it, there's no doubt in my mind that He will give it to me. :cross

Well today in church we didn't really have an actual sermon, but a middle school group (that's around the ages of twelve to fifteen for all of our foreigners on here) talked to us about the importance of showing God's love to the people who are less fortunate to us and be thankful for the many blessings that we do have in our lives. So, in the end I still believe that it was a wonderful and beautiful message. :yes We also took communion and learned (or at least it was new for me) this beautiful song. :cross

Well, today was really interesting at church. We had more guest speakers and they talked about how they went on a trip to show the love of Jesus Christ by helping people in need and how they felt like the Lord was with them every step of the way just like He is with all of us even through our darkest of times. :cross However, after the service I found out that one of the singers who sang this song had a lot in common with me since we both were quite the troublemakers growing up, but how this song really did touch us and remind us that all of our sins really were washed away by the blood of Jesus.

Today I learned that even when we are in obedience to God, like the 3 boys in Daniel 3 refusing to bow down to the gold image, we can still end up suffering in this broken world. There is no guarantee of health, wealth and happiness, but the one thing we can be sure of is that Jesus will be with us every step of the way - even in the midst of that fiery furnace.
Praise God for that!

Amen! :thumbsup

Well we had a wonderful service this morning in church that I want StoveBolts , JohnDB, Tessa, Papa Zoom, and questdriven to read. I know for a fact that all five of you would have wanted to be with me in church this morning. First they started talking about the fact that even though God always keeps His promises, He isn't some magical genie that is going to grant your every wish.

After that, there was a whole sermon that I think all of us at christianforums.net should be asking ourselves. Do we as a community represent Christ when we're constantly arguing with each other and bringing each other down when we don't agree with somebody about something? Unfortunately from what I've witnessed on here, a lot of the time it's a big fat NO. So, I think starting today we should try and change that and let the love of Jesus shine through us. :cross We also say two of my most favorite songs ever that tell us we are all God's children and we are all loved by Him, and there's no problem in our life that we can't come to Him with.
