What do you do for a living?

Yes, high school. Not too many people want to become teachers, especially secondary teachers. It's a shame, as in the next 6 years statistics are telling us that 40% of the teachers will retire. :o

I have a deep passion for history, and love geography so I just want to pass on my knowledge and passion to kids. I think education is really the foundation on which a society builds itself.

Actually, I have a friend who's a high school history teacher and he has been voted "teacher of the year" by the students 3 of the past 5 years, so I might be contradicting my statement. History is one of those subjects that the right teacher can bring to life for the students. It takes a special person to take a subject like that with kids that age and instill that kind of response.

I chaperoned my son's 8th grade class on a trip to Washington D.C. last fall. The parents couldn't get enough, but sadly the kids for the most part were bored unless they had a chance to goof around. We also walked around a battle field from the civil war; the bloodiest 2 days in U.S. war history. We were there for about 3 hours. I could have spent a week there.

I agree. My modern history teacher is the main one who spurred me on to become a teacher. He is soooo awesome. :D

My son doesn't embarrass easily. I've tried. He's just too cocky. :D It doesn't take much to get my girls, though. When we pull up to a place where their friends might be in our car, and I have the windows down with Taylor Swift blaring out the windows, and me dancing in my seat, waiving my hand out the window... that's enough to provoke seizures. :thumbsup:thumbsup

Mike! Mike, Mike ,Mike. :shame That is just cruel. At least it was Taylor Swift and not 'the Carpenters' like my father.

But still... you lack imagination. My dad sprayed my boyfriends with 'Doom for crawling insects', put Tabasco in their food and so forth.. :screwloose He is still strong enough to fight the pillow off his face but justice is patient.

Its funny I was very similar, I hated history and geography at school, I didn't take them as subjects. I went the science, biology route .................... its funny I don't think we were taught much evolution back then. I enjoy history and geography now and working at a school I am exposed to it so much more now. ............ and the teachers don't seem to mind me asking questions.
One thing I have realized about working at a school is that the kids seem to think you have a wealth of knowledge about everything. I manage the network and repair the computers and teach computers from grade 4 to Grade 9. I get asked questions about language, history, life science and career choice.......I am not complaining its got me out of a rut I've been in for years now. I got the job through Gods intervention. So I'm lovin it.

Ive been involved in a number of occupations over the years.

Starting as a gas station attendant, tyre fitter, wheel aligner, suspension mechanic, fitter and turner (industrial mechanic) , engineering draftsman, civil engineering, graphic design, multimedia, web design, e-learning specialist ...

Maybe one of these days I'll figure out what I want to be when I grow up! :lol

Come on! I've seen the show! A lot of people have. The gig is up, McGyver. But you'll probably be able to use 2 toothpicks and a ball point pen to get out of these fibs. :)
