I recently read an article entitled "Muzzle That Ox or Just Don't Give Them Any Money!" Muzzle That Ox!! that I found very interesting that discussed this subject.
I made me wanna start a thread to discuss and so that we could enlighten one another on the subject of the tithe. What is it? Who should participate?

The scripture says not to muzzle the ox while he is treading out the grain. Today the ox has taken over the farm and is flying jet planes and living in excessive materalism...those oxes need to be muzzled.

Says you. Not God.

alabaster. why would god bless men to the point that it causes them temptation?

didnt david say that lord dont leave me poor so that i hate you but neither so wealthy that i forget you?

david wasnt a pauper by no means when he wrote that.

This is what Jesus has to say about tithe and again in Luke.

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Luk 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
Luk 10:4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
Luk 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
Luk 10:6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
Luk 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
Luk 10:8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

yes he did say but the true tithe isnt just ten percent of income but food as well and children.

look it up. and why doesnt paul mention it?

Good for you, [and not leave the other undone] are the Word's of Christ. Also in the N.T. side of Matt. 23 Christ again documents His Word of... 'ALL THEREFORE WHATSOEVER THEY BID YOU OBSERVE. that Observe and do; [but DO NOT AFTER THEIR WORKS, FOR THEY SAY AND DO NOT].'

NO. The only question is, are we robbing God by supporting any of the Rev. 17:1-5 ones? Yes, surely! See Mal. 3:8-9?

SO: What alternative is left then?? If you want my answer, just ask me!;)

so the rabbi down the street has the authority to tell me not worship the messiah and to sacrifice the offering of sin?

Jesus well knew the end of Temple life was coming to that generation. IT was a tenth of your incress. kids goats $$$ cattle.

Preachers Kid. I know how hard it was for Daddy to get up go set between a fighting couple and still get up for work the next day. Ya have a little church in the middle of nowhere some one is in the hospital you have to chose drive 3 hours to the hospital or go to work. We should pay the preacher. My wonderful wisdom(hehe) would be to pay the pastor, something like the adverge of the congeration.

Luk 21:1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
Luk 21:2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
Luk 21:3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
Luk 21:4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

What? Men are subject to temptation as it is!

God blesses those who fully trust Him with their entire lives, and it shows in their tithe.

didnt david say that lord dont leave me poor so that i hate you but neither so wealthy that i forget you?

david wasnt a pauper by no means when he wrote that.

His heart was right. So must ours be.

then why arent all christians rich? paul died in captivity hardly rich , blessed.

many died poor, in fact if you look at the then list of faithful witnesses
few of them were rich.

i dont understand these types.i'm blessed compared to where i was but i simply dont want money.

once you have a million where else do you go?

We all should be rich in every way. Financially, we Christians in the west are considered massively wealthy compared to anywhere else on the globe.

Money matters in relation to spiritual matters do not compute in the western mind. We need to get away and spend time with God on our knees if possible and let Him infuse us with His thinking on this matter. HIS THOUGHTS are what matter. Not yours or mine.

Paul doesn't say it because the 10% tithing was a law under the old covenant, but we should give what we can AND the Acts church gave everything.

It wasn't just money that was given
Gal 6:6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good
things with him who teaches.

1Cor 9:11 If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it
a great thing if we reap your material things?

Today we just give money and time.

Says you. Not God.[/QUOTE Let God speak for Himself; has not God CHOSEN the poor of this world rich in faith, but you have despised the poor. As the flower of the grass(the rich man)shall pass away and fade away in his ways.Woe unto you that are rich(Jesus). A rich man shall hardly enter the Kingdom of Heaven(Jesus). The rich man also died and was buried and in hell(Jesus). Those that will be rich fall into temptation(Paul).

did you ever wonder why god put in his word this verse

when you enter the land dont forget me?

think about. honestly, wow that is a line jenn uses. but not all are meant to billionaires.

if we are billionaires whats the point? no poor as there wouldnt be enough money to go around and with that amount of power what with men evil and tendency to sin .

i have learned its best to avoid the temptation and not even bother with it.

should i go to gay bars to make friends?

money and the love therein is very powerful, yes we can help the poor but i do think as a church collective its best not everyone striving to be wealthy so that they can give

do you see the hole with that?how can i make money and get enough to make more so that i can give and have time for god??

tis balence, yes some are able to be rich and not be distracted, i know me that isnt me , i have stolen from my own parents to make money.

its too tempting

why would we pray if we have it all?

think about it. God allows hardship so that we can come to him. he gives enough for day by day living. when we ask for strenght its a daily thing not one prayer to make it

surely you realise that god aint santa clause. i think you do but sometimes i wonder.

paul says it best. i have learned to be content wherewith what state i found myself in

whether based or abound .
and heres food for thought

why did paul say that the thorn in the flesh was there to keep him in check?

he seed he could be so blessed that he would forget God and didnt want that and was humbled by that thorn.

his words not mine.

the parable of the talents.

every notice that the returns for that usury arent the same??>

God blesses those who prove trustworthy in finances with more, because He can trust such people to pour their wealth into His work, investing in people for His sake.

Read the Parable of the Servants, Luke 19.
