Bible Study What Does It Mean To Walk In The Spirit.

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
In your II Corinthians 3:14-15 quote I wonder if you might explain a little more about the heart and mind difference and interaction before the new birth and after the new birth. At this point I am getting a glimpse, but before I start could you help?

Matthew 27:50 "And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.
Mat 27:51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.
Mat 27:52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,
Mat 27:53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
Mat 27:54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, "Truly this was the Son of God!"

That Old Covenant curtain that kept Israel from the very presence and fellowship with Jehovah their Elohim. That veil, separating the Holy Spirit from entering the body of each Believer making it His Temple, ceased to be whole as it was torn from top to bottom. Israel is still kept out of that close communion with God because of their unbelief, what a shame and loss. (I'm not sure that I expressed that which is in my mind)

Under the New Covenant, thru the shed Blood of Jesus the Son of God, we now have access to the fullness of God thru the body of our Lord Jesus. Once Jesus "yielded up His spirit" the third member of the triune God was able to enter the believers lives by indwelling our bodies. In a spiritual sense, we have the Holy of Holies in our hearts by the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Israel is still blind because of the curtain veil that will always be there until they are brought to their knees in the last 3 1/2 year tribulation period.

Jesus, I believe, had to yield up His spirit before the Holy Spirit could enter the Believers heart and make his body His Temple.

ez, I'm just thinking out loud as I ponder what you have written about the veil....
Hebrews 10:20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh"....This tells me that there must have been an "old way" and I see in the Garden of Eden the "tree of life" which must have been the only way at that time. Problem was, it was locked up to Adam and thus to every man. I believe that the veil in the Temple represents the locked up tree of life and in order to remove the veil was to get a new and living way thru the sacrifice of Christ's body on the Cross.

There probably is a lot more to the two ways of life, one thru the tree of life and the other thru Christ, whose body is the veil, rent in two for the Believer to have full access to God Himself and the Kingdom of His dear Son, Jesus.

The heart and mind. You is using that mind of yours.

I love Isaiah 6 for getting a connection between heart and mind ( the Old Testament way).

I suppose that money is the chief among idols
Where is the love of money set up? There may not be any money where the love of money resides. Looking to lust; Desiring riches. The Kingdom of God is inside us (new us) when the word is in our hearts and minds (if a Gentile can open the door as well as a Jew). The Holy Spirit strives against flesh.

Jesus was slain from the foundation of the earth. Revelation 13:4 KJV
Creation shows the brokenness in plate techtonics.
Day 4 time begins.
Man is made in image of God (physical shadows)
The immune system shows sin taken care of in Gods plan. (Also kidneys)
The hidden man of the heart is crucified
(Romans 1:20)
Eden's rivers divide (the heart of man is where it all starts)
No temple in New Jerusalem (faith is needed to understand new birth (no clear symbols)
OT / OC Isaiah 6 angels transfer revelation.
New Testament Holy Spirit transfers knowledge
(John 16:13)

In the beginning knowledge is hidden in creation, but later God's son is the major revelation.
Hebrews 1:1 KJV
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by hisSon, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Of course the hidden things of creation were shadows of the coming Messiah / Christ.
Colossians 2:16 KJV
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

(Sun Moon weeks eclipse - all show coming day of Lord Jesus)

Shadows are to be recognized as hints, but the reality is seen in Christ Jesus.
The study of shadows is limited. When the reality of Jesus comes, then we concentrate on Him. Peter mentioned Jesus over and over in I & II Peter, and did not concentrate on shadows.

Interesting to me. Living in the Spirit takes on a huge change in the source of Revelation. It agrees with the Prophets and creation, but explains the hidden things.

I hope in a good way.

I hope in a good way.
I would say yes; in a good way.

Psalms 119:11 KJV
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

A lot of people just quote the heart (by tradition) and not even want to go to the mind. The carnal mind receives the Word / Law just like the heart does (it appears a better way). If a desperately wicked heart can receive the word / law ,then the carnal mind can receive the word also.
Hebrews 10:16 KJV
This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

In the mind (to the extent), that an ox can be compared to a preacher. Not carved in stone where an ox is an ox, but in flesh where I Corinthians 9:9 makes sense to us.

There is a change when Revelation 3:20 happens. Thoughts just are not the same anymore.

I'm interested in what you think is the outcome of having God's laws in our hearts and in our minds. There are obvious ones, but I think there is more than just knowing the difference between right and wrong. Any ideas?

God's laws in our hearts today:
Not under the law as written.
We see Jesus as first fruit from dead
We see Jesus as Passover lamb
Jesus is the day
Jesus is the sabbaths
The ox is a preacher (said again)
Peter speaks of the reality of Christ Jesus
The law symbols speak of Jesus

The outcome must be to think and feel as God does. The Law of Agape Love covers this.

Peter should have received Agape love. Praised as hearing the father when the response was correct, and condemned when listening to Satan about avoiding suffering. The staff draws near, but the rod chastenes those he loves.

Of course this may not be what you are saying.

Thank you eddif and Malachi. I was wondering if perhaps this is what ez is referring too. He has recommended that I cease from studying Scripture for a while and meditate on and call on the Holy Spirit to reveal Truth to me. Since God's Laws are written in my heart & mind, the Spirit of Jesus will reveal Truth.

I guess I completely left off the prophecy, spiritual gifts, dreams / visions nature of Holy Spirit.
Fathers nature
Sons nature
Holy Spirits nature

The three have common goals, but are so different in position and function.

Walking in the spirit does not exclude the other members of the Godhead or blur the picture.

Into what baptism are we baptized?
Me:
12 years in John's baptism
Before
2 years in Jesus baptism
Before
Baptism in Holy Spirit
Then
Now the flesh strives against the Spirit and the Spirit strives against the flesh.

Sorry I do not get it together better. P

I (because of Holy Spirit fussing / leading on the inside):
Use Creation Romans 1:20
Scripture OC / NC
The actions of Jesus

If all do not agree I look for an evil spirit trying to lie to me. If I do not understand I seek. I am in a human body and not yet ressurrected. Dead to the dominance of sin, but not yet without sin.

This is an informative thread.

Rednecks read such as this.

I will try and get back to the 2 Corinthians 3 passage when I can. If I may, I am not sure what you may be getting a glimpse of that I can speak to it; But from my experience, sometimes a glimpse is all we get. Yet, when we exercise the faith to begin speaking about it, then often times that small glimpse will start coming into focus. And when you find the scripture that confirms it, then your faith can only grow.

Chopper, so that no one misunderstands what I had suggested to you in the past, which was basically to take a spiritual fast. I had made a comment that if Jesus went into the wilderness to fast for forty days, then maybe he could lay down the scriptures for forty days and just meditate on what he already knows from the scripture: primarily what he knows about Jesus.

The Bible is a book of the world. When we study the scriptures we tend to do so with a mind according to the things of this world. But when we can close the book and meditate on the word we already know, then we allow the Holy Spirit to begin to teach us spiritual things.

In the temptation in the wilderness, after Jesus fasted those 40 days, He was offered all the kingdoms of this world, but said, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shall you serve.

What is it we seek after, the kingdoms of this world? or the kingdom of heaven?

I see no harm in suggesting a spiritual fast.

Amos 8:11 KJV
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
9:1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.
2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:
3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:
11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

At the end of 400 years of silence Jesus came.°

I hope you didn't think I was putting the "spiritual fast" down, I wasn't. Actually, I'm doing more of that now as I seek answers to a different situation that I'm faced with which is different from this thread, so I won't say more about it. A spiritual fast is a good thing.

Isaiah 6 For now I will not define which verses. It really comes alive after reading the whole chapter multiple times, with the Holy Spirit guiding.

The information (burning coal) is moved from one place to another by an Angel. Angels and prophets were especially an OC method of information delivery. They are still a delivery process, but the Holy Spirit in us is a major new NC process. Both should agree.

Sons and daughters is a NC extension. There is a post Pentecost difference.

Walking in the spirit is somewhat different when revelations are given to a broader crowd.
