What if HIV doesn't cause AIDS?

Whoa there...I'm just saying that I read the Farber book and some Duesberg and I find it all very fascinating. Seems like billion$ have been spent, and nobody's cured. Big Pharma makes money, the gay community keeps on with the promiscuity and heavy drug use, and we're all trying to find and cure this virus that's supposedly the problem. I mean, think about the sheer level of funding AIDS research and treatment have received. Then think about the rather dismal results. We're supposed to believe that with more money, more awareness, etc., this death virus will be eradicated. What if the virus isn't the problem?

African AIDS, from Farber's perspective, is more a syndrome of poverty than anything else. Clean water, improved nutrition, and basic health care and education would do more for African "AIDS" than HAART cocktails and AZT. Problem? Those are social issues. Declaring all these various health problems "AIDS-related" helps gloss over the incredible level of inequality and oppression one sees in the world today.

That "what if" is pointless, because there is overwhelming evidence that AIDS is caused by HIV. Why would thousands of medical researchers be fooled while only a handfull of people miraculously recognise the truth? A conspiracy that big is impossible to maintain over decades.
The cure has not yet been found, but the same is true for cancer, flu, ebola, diabetes type I, and the common cold, and a few more. But nobody suspects a conspiracy behind those.
And the fact that HIV/AIDS is manageable through a medication that can significantly extend the life expectancy, increase the performance of the immune system, delay or prevent the outbreak of the AIDS syndrome in an HIV infected person and improve their quality of life shows that the theory of how AIDS is caused must hold some truth. The numbers of AIDS-related deaths have gone down significantly since the medication that manages the HIvirus was introduced.

Yeah AIDS in Africa and other 3rd world countries is indeed a poverty problem. Because those countries don't have universal health care, and their people are too poor to pay those meds themselves. Additionally, other infectious diseases spread more easily than here due to malnutrition, poor general public health, poor hygiene conditions and unavailability of free or affordable health care. And since HIV damages your immune system being exposed to infectious diseases without a working defense system in your body can kill you.
Plus insufficient education or availability of condoms increases the risk of obtaining an HIV infection.
So you are right it IS a poverty problem and education and healthcare would do a lot to improve that. However, it's still a HIVirus that causes AIDS, even in Africa.

Edward. small pox and tb and also the cousin to small pox(chicken pox) and any flu is way more easier as a biological weapon and theses are more contagious then hiv. Hiv cant live outside the human body for long. the others do and spread quickly and tb and small pox can use animals as hosts.if I recall correctly. that would be the way to hit the population. modify them to be harder to treat and then just drop the gas or bombs with them bugs and watch them work.

I can't stress this enough: **please** read Celia Farber's "Harper's" article! This single piece of research and analysis will change the way you view HIV/AIDS forever!

...or they could be directly injected through vaccines is what Len Horowitz was saying was done. (!)

how many in America die from aids? its not even on the top ten. suicide is this year!culling by aids isn't working too well and yet the earth populations still grows in leaps and bounds

Here's the problem..once you've been diagnosed HIV+, you could get hit by a bus and the death would probably be recorded as "HIV-related." That includes deaths that should be attributed to anti-HIV/AIDS drugs.

Over 30 million people in the US up to 2009. That's not insignificant.

Wow, so much bad information on both sides!

There have been less than 700,000 total deaths in the U.S. from HIV/AIDS since the disease was first recognized in 1981. The 30 million number is worldwide with the vast majority coming from sub-Sahara Africa where 5% of the adult population is HIV positive. The U.S. infection rate is one half of 1% (.5%).

There is no disease called "AIDS". AIDS is defined as a T cell count of less than 200/µl in the presence of the HIV infection. There are people with zero T cell counts who don't have AIDS because they don't have the HIV infection, but they are at the same risk of dying from the underlying diseases that cause death in AIDS patients (pneumonia, liver failure, etc).

HIV started in the early 20th century as Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV) in Africa and was most liked transferred to humans through consumption of infected simians by hunters, not from having sex with them (ever tried to fornicate a monkey? Not as easy as it sounds, first they want flowers.... then dinner, but I digress). The disease was then spread human to human through the exchange of bodily fluid.

And AIDS is not God's punishment of sin for homosexuals, the promiscuous or drug users any more than heart attacks are God's punishment for too much salt or bacon. They are both the result of not taking care of the body God gave you with all of it's frailties.

compare it to alcohol. how many does that kill per year? far more. 10%? you realize that means one in ten americans has aids?! I have never met anyone that has aids

yes, per the cdc the cumulative amount of deaths from stage 3 aids from 2008-2011 isn't even two million!

A couple things:

1) The initial jump from SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) to HIV is much more likely to be the result of someone getting infected while preparing bush meat than getting down-and-dirty with a monkey. Blood-blood transmission is way more likely to occur and monkeys were a valuable source of food for those people.

2) ARV (anti-retroviral) therapy seems to be doing a pretty good job with AIDS. Yes, it isn't easy on the liver, but life expectancy with HIV/AIDS is way longer now than it used to be.

3) The burnout behaviour argument falls flat on so many points (that others have put out there). One that I didn't notice (maybe it's there) is that babies can develop HIV/AIDS after having an HIV+ mother. Now maybe there is a rash of one-year-olds hitting the crack pipe, but Occam's Razor suggests......

Point of order -- a lot of non-homo women , children and men now are diagnosed with it, and I think more die of the treatment drugs than of the diagnosed one.

Replied to emphasize the point "there is so much bad information on both sides" ....

I've met someone diagnosed who no longer had any symptoms at all, and he didn't die from the drugs - he didn't take them.
He is still alive* (I have absolutely no idea how he got it, or if he is a pervert or not. He didn't act or look like one, and didn't say if he was.).
Like many others have testified, he could have gotten worse and worse at the cost to taxpayers of 1,2, or 3 thousand dollars PER MONTH (or more),
for even up to a decade or longer,
but he didn't.
He got better*.

*He was very actively alive and healthy weight and appetite and every parameter they can check - healthy, when I met him.
