Daniel Chapters 7 and 9 have been misinterpreted for the purpose of backing up the theory of the beast and the Antichrist. I will start with Chapter 7 to show you what the meaning of the four beast are and then break down Daniel 9:24-27 to show you that it was Daniels vision of the birth and the resurrection of Christ. Please read these chapters and verses very carefully for yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to open your Spiritual eyes.

Daniel Chapter 7 was an interpretation of a dream that Nebuchadnezzar had about four nations. Within these four nations we see how Satan tries to rule through man, but the kingdom of God prevails in judgment against these nations and the nations are turned over to the people of God for eternity. Notice also where these present day places in parentheses are located. Pagan nations also were often called beast in the Old Testament, which shows us to not take some words literally, but to define the definition of the word Spiritually.

Four nations:
Babylonian Empire:
(Iraq) The lion represents the winged lions that guarded the royal places of Babylon.

Medo – Persian Empire:
(Iran) The ribs of the bear are part of the consuming greed that devours the first empire.

Grecian Empire:
(Greece, Turkey, Syria, Egypt) Four wings of the leopard described the swiftness of this empire that ran from 334-331BC. It wrestled world dominion from Medo-Persia. After the death of Alexander the Great the kingdom was divided into four minor kingdoms that continued as prominent factors in world politics until the Roman Empire gathered it back as one kingdom.

Roman Empire:
Iron represents the stronghold this nation had. Daniel chapter 2 mentions the iron element of this empire that it to will be divided and broken as God will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed.

The seven year great tribulation, which is not found anywhere in scripture, was derived by mans misinterpretation of Daniel 9:24-27. This is what the Bible clearly reveals about the seventy weeks. From vs.24 to vs.27 was seventy weeks or 490 days beginning with Ezra, (Ref: Ezra Chapter 3-6), rebuilding the temple to the time of the Messiah (Jesus Christ) being fulfilled in his birth, death and resurrection. In a sense it was a literal and spiritual temple that was being built. Ezra was teaching the people of the Spiritual temple of God that indwelled in all that believed in God and of the coming of Messiah. There was actually a five hundred year span from Ezra till the birth of Jesus that God shut himself off from National Israel because of their transgressions towards the Lord, but saved a remnant that would believe in the coming of Messiah, (Ref: Isaiah Chapter 10), as still today, God waits for National Israel (all people of the world) to repent and believe in the name of Jesus.

Daniel 9:24-27 the Vision of the Seventy Weeks

Vs. 24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

This verse shows us that the timing from Ezra to the cross was 490 days as within that time Ezra was reestablishing the law in Jerusalem until Jesus had fulfilled the end of transgression, made an end to sin, made reconciliation for iniquity and bring everlasting righteousness and to seal up the prophecy to fulfill the law through the cross.

Vs. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

From the time of the cross, which also means the last days, which includes what some like to separate and call the Great Tribulation, which is not mentioned anywhere in scripture and is not a separate event after the elect of God are caught up, but as the last days so we are in tribulation times until the end of the world as we know it; (Ref: Acts 2:17; Hebrews 1:1,2; Matthew 24:4-31; Mark 13:24-31; Luke 21:5-36). These are just some of the scriptures that support that we will go through all things of Revelation Chapters 6-21 (Please read these chapters). Everyone will have opportunity to come unto salvation through Jesus Christ if they would only repent, but when Satan is cast into the lake of fire forever after the second battle, which will be explained later in this chapter, that will come out of Jerusalem Gods judgment will be upon his people and the books will be opened at that time. No secret rapture as the saints of God are still here at this time.

Matthew 25:10 and while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

Vs.26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

After 434 years that end in the year AD29 shall Messiah be cut off. Jesus was crucified after he was baptized in AD 29 three and a half years later. Jesus was cut off (killed) by the people of the prince, which means National Israel or other words the Pharisees, Sanhedrin and the high priest that destroy the city and the sanctuary (meaning Christ) and the end thereof shall be with a flood (Gods wrath) that will put an end to abominations by desolation or in other words a ruin to evil deeds. Daniel 9:27 explains the definitions of desolation of abominations or the ruin of evil deeds. There is no actual Desolations of Abominations where the so-called Antichrist will take a literal throne, but the desolation will be when the final Pope tries to take his throne in Jerusalem, (Ref: Daniel 11:36-45). Gods’ word never defines one great Antichrist, but says there are many antichrists. The seven years that some call the seven year tribulation means three and a half years of Jesus teaching before he was crucified and three and a half years of Stephen teaching before he was stoned to death, which took place after Jesus was taken up to heaven. 1John 2:18; 2Thessalonians 2:1-12

Vs.27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The 70th seven began with Christ baptism in AD 29 and three years later at the end of the first half of the 70th seven sacrifices and offering ceased because Christ hung on the cross as he was the final sacrifice that fulfilled the law. From the giving of the law in 458BC when Ezra went to establish the law, or to rebuild the Spiritual city right up to the cross were the first 69 sevens. The 70th seven is from the time of the cross until Jesus comes and gathers his bride as they prepare to stand in the Holy place until the overspreading of abominations he will make desolate, or make an end to all that would not repent.

A rapture as some like to call it, but the Bible calls it being caught up to meet Jesus in the air, will take place, but not the way others are teaching it to be before a great tribulation and no one will know when, not even Jesus himself will know. There is no mention in scripture of a great seven year tribulation as we will always have tribulations until Jesus comes for us. There is no literal 1000-year reign with Christ either, because we reign with Christ the first time we ask him into our heart as we become joint heirs with him. We will face much tribulation before Jesus returns as Gods word says this world will wax worse and those who endure until the end are those who will be saved, which means the end of all things this world will go through before the new heaven and new Jerusalem can be ushered down from heaven. Matthew 24:36, 37; Deuteronomy 4:30; Matthew 24:21; Acts 14:22; Romans 5:17; Matthew 24:13

Accurate as far as I can see. I use Nissan 14th 29AD as the date of the crucifixion for a couple reasons, but it seems that no one knows for certain the year of the crucifixion.

Good post

It had to be either AD30 or AD33 according to the position of the moon. Passover was always on full moon 14/15th nisan and the above years are the only years that work.

7th April AD30 according to this article.

That's if you believe in a Friday crucifixion. Folks like me believe in a Wednesday crucifixion otherwise Matthew 12:40 would not be possible. 3 days and 3 nights are 3 days and 3 nights: 72 hours and you can't fit Friday night until pre-dawn Sunday into that time frame anymore than one can fit 10 pounds of fudge in a 5 pound bag.

According to Sir Isaac Newton (my favorite theologian), Passover occurred on a Wednesday in 34AD. I calculated the same thing, too (March 24).

newton is a partial preterist.

newton is a partial preterist.

That's true, whereas I'm not. However, I would not say that he did not believe in the second coming of Christ --- he very much did so. However, he saw that predicting the future was feeding one's vanity rather than proving God's word. He rather used the "day-for-a-year" principle so that when Daniel talked of 1260, 1290, 1335 days, etc, that Daniel meant years. Thus, one could look at history as Newton said and could see the validity of God's word in history instead of speculating in the future.

Actually, he's right, but that does not mean that the preterist position is the only one. Interpreting like Newton did is called the "long fulfillment" of the "seven times" punishment. Actually, Newton was right. But that does not mean there is not a short fulfillment as well, i.e. a literal 2520, 1260, 1290, 1335, etc days. The problem lies when a preterist claims that their historicist position (which is valid) is the only fulfillment, or likewise, when the futurist claims theirs is the only one. Prophecy has multiple fulfillments, and there is a forerunner of a future, similar event as well.

So, my gripes against preterists are not their position (say, the 70AD abomination) per se. They are correct. My gripe is when they think that's all there is to it and there's no more future destruction or fulfillment. But as H.W. Armstrong said, the bible is relevant for us, today! If there is no more future, then what's the point? What's the hope? Merely object lessons devoid of power. That's all.

hmm, let me make a correction. you are confusing a partial with a full preterist.

the problem with your position is when the aod occurs whom will be the maccabees?

surely you see that the temple has to be holy again in order for it to be descrated in like manner.

and well why then do you arbitrarily decide that the christ has to come again to save them jews , when he returns its to judge not in a wise peaceful.

his first advent was peacful(thus the peace on earth thing).

That would have made him nearly 40 years old when he died. :study It doesn't fit Luke 3:23 very comfortably.

No. 33.5 years old. Born in September 1BC, started his ministry at 30 years of age (Luke 3:23), and ministered for 3.5 years until; death in 34AD (Luke 4:21-27)

Lived 12240 days exactly (or 34 prophetic years).

I'm not sure what you are asking or stating, Jason. Of course the future temple will be declared Holy again (by Jews) so that the beast can do the same thing. I'm not sure why the AOD cannot occur again considering historically it occurred more than once.

Who will be the future "Macabbees"? I would have to say Christ Himself since when the temple is desecrated and the world's on the verge of extinction, He comes back and rebuilds the millennial temple (which is not the same as the one in the coming Tribulation that was man-made).

Also keep in mind that when prophecy repeats more than once, that it is not necessarily a carbon copy as the previous AOD's did not occur exactly the same. That's how we can sometimes tell when something is yet to come when it did not happen yet, albeit similar. An excellent example is Daniel 11:36 to the end of the chapter. Historicists in ecumenical comments claimed this was never fulfilled (and they don't take a future stance, either, but more like a preterist) That definitely whittles down the authority of the bible to make comments like that, and they are left scratching their heads. But I have a simpler solution --- it did not happen yet.

wow I cant wait for another virgin birth, we could have Christmas twice a year,,why not four or five?.. Four one Christmas for each temple, sound good?

heres the problem for your position. christ didnt appear when the first temple was purged. the second aod wasnt like the first at all! and the first time the temple was holy.

daniel 11:36.

http://studylight.org/com/acc/view.cgi?book=da&chapter=011

clarke almost thinks it the rcc.

of course no man view of end time is correct on everything.

that said why in the world do you think that the temple would need to be used again with christ in it.

you do realise the holies of holies is symbolic of the church of sorts.

we are that temple. so why would god do that again with worship?

while i am millenial ,i dont see a temple again on the earth for the worship of god.

i mean as in the ot style sacrifice.

Josephus tells us that Herod died in 4 BC. He tried to kill the babies in Bethlehem shortly before that remember.

Well, there's an acceptable range of dates theologians accept for the birth and death dates. Both you and I are within those ranges, but I don't want to get off topic :topictotopic as that would be something to discuss in another thread. I have both my historical reasons, as well as astronomical reasons for those dates, but that does not guarantee I'm right. It's just what I believe.

H.W. Armstrong didn't understand the first thing about the Bible or prophecy.:shame
What could be more relevant to humanity than object lessons which can lead people to Christ? That is power. Not the sensationalist garbage Armstrong promoted which will never come to pass.

I'm going to have to disagree with your assessment that the fourth kingdom is Rome. I would think that at least the little horn mentioned in chapter 7 of the fourth beast is the same little horn mentioned in chapter 8 which is clearly Antiochus IV of Seleucid.

So these would make the fourth kingdom Seleucid. So on this principle your whole thesis is in error.

Newton's observations are quite interesting. His observations convinced me that the 70 weeks are indeed consecutive.

But there are two points of clarifications that need to be cleared up:

1, Newton believed in a Friday crucifixion :sad (strange for such a brilliant mathematician)

2, He was more of a historicist and like most Reformers of his time, he believed the Papacy was/is antichrist.

so did the man adam clarke.

Most early Methodists like Wesley and Clarke believed most prophecy was fulfilled on the first century, making them partial or historical preterists.

Both also believed in a Friday crucifixion. :shrug I'm sure they had their reasons. :nod

I smell a new thread coming on: What day of the week was the crucifixion?
