It's like this Christian band wants to be a part of the dark world instead of bringing light.

It's like when a church becomes like the world instead of the other way around.

I can almost guarantee the day will come when you don't like this stuff anymore.

In the meantime, yeah, I'm not saying you're lost because of this...lucky for us, God understands us at every moment of our lives.

Music styles are benign, it's how they are used that matters. And we don't actually know what demons look like, actually they typically represent themselves as angelic. I'm surprised you take issue with this song but are fine with the one in the OP about burning a witch at the stake.

That turned me off too.
It's those images I find rather offensive.
They do seem to be very demonic.

I just don't think it's benign to have those designs on CHRISTIAN music...if they were just a hard metal (extreme metal, etc) I don't think it's so important because I feel 90% of persons grow out of this, and God is patient and no sin is any worse than any other (for God).

It become more difficult to listen to that kind of music as one ages...just like violence become more difficult to listen to (like the news for instance). This is why I think we grow out of this stuff.
I know a priest that used to love Queen...now all he listens to is that Gregorian music, but he still likes Queen.

So, this is a nice discussion.. Just my thoughts.
 
There are many Hard Rock Christian bands out there like Stryper, Disciple, P.O.D., Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet and Demon Hunter that many deem satanic in nature either because they do not really listen to the lyrics, but when you give them the chance and listen to the message the lyrics are actually quoting scripture that is brought to a younger generation that can actually understand the words. Even many secular songs can bring a good message that causes one to meditate on God.

Let's not put another person down for the type of music they listen to, especially if we do not understand it. My former Pastor's son was in a hard rock grunge Christian band and I couldn't understand the words, but the other kids did and they lead many youth to the Lord.

The topic is "what music are we listening to" so let's share what we are listening to and not run down another for their choice.

I don't "put down" persons for anything. I love questdriven and was asnswering to a post she had made regarding this.

I understand the words. I'm just wondering if it's appropriate.
I happen to listen to all types of music,,,incl hard rock and I made it very clear that I don't think this causes a problem with our salvation.

Maybe I'll start a thread on this. I do find it a very interesting subject.

I publicly apologize to questdriven if I offended her. It was not my intent. If nothing else, I derailed her thread.

Right now, I'm listening to this album.

This person started writing music when he was in his teens and had his first hit album at about the age of 20. He is very popular in Europe (at least in Western Europe) and his songs speak of varied topics.


 
Well if you ask me, those old traditional organ hymns are in a class of their own. They really glorify God and the chord progressions are exquisite. Such music occupies a sacred space in my heart.

That type of music is used to torture people into submission, and goes by the name “music torture”.

It’s used to drive the victims insane, and is designed to destabilize their mind to make them controllable.



Here’s a quote from a person who was subjected to this:




British citizen Ruhal Ahmed described the process in a 2008 interview with Reprieve investigators: "I can bear being beaten up, it's not a problem. Once you accept that you're going to go into the interrogation room and be beaten up, it's fine. You can prepare yourself mentally. But when you're being psychologically tortured, you can't."

He said he had been exposed to the torture "numerous times" to a variety of music. "It makes you feel like you are going mad. You lose the plot, and it's very scary to think that you might go crazy because of all the music, because of the loud noise and because after a while you don't hear the lyrics at all, all you hear is heavy banging."

When I mentioned all those bands I listed many deem them unfit to listen to as they judge a book by it's, but never read (hear) the words. What I put in red was a friendly reminder as there is a little bit of a judgemental tone happening. The reminder is for everyone and not directed at any one particular. Let's stay within the topic and only share what music we like.

I'm on dial-up so I can't check out all the videos unless I use my phone and to each their own.

This song makes me think of my late stepdad, I often listen to it on his birthday, the anniversary of his passing, father's day, etc. It would be his perspective about dying.
