What Would Jesus Eat

And how many people on this board are eating healthy ? And not eating a lot of fast foods. And cooking with olive oil instead of regular cooking oils, and eating a lot of salads and fish, and have cut down on meat eating ?

Yes I must admit as the years roll by and the effects of a mis-spent youth (food-wise) start to take their toll, my eating habits have changed dramatically. Fish, which used to make me physically ill, is now on the menu. Happily, my kids have been eased into a healthier diet by the efforts of their mum who has become a vegetarian.

Every now & then we have a 'fast food' meal and by choice the kids are even choosing sushi over the likes of McD's.

You know I have never had sushi. And because it is raw, and has the potential for parasites, I don't know if I ever will. Because all flesh that is to be ate, should be cooked. So how does it taste ?

REALLY YUMMY!! I'm not sure whether sushi is the same the world over but the sushi we have here can have virtually anything in it - raw & cooked. For example: Vegetarian is nice - actually they are all 'nice'. Salmon & chicken (cooked of course) and varying preparations such as teriyaki, smoked etc we rate pretty highly too.

You should try it :D

Oh I forgot to add the things that really 'make it' for me are the extras - Soy sauce (for dipping into) Wasabi (adds heat like horseradish sauce) followed by a little sliced pickled ginger. Wow! - what a taste sensation!!

Vic likes sushi. :-D If you know for sure the source of the fish, things like tuna, salmon, swordfish can be on the raw side. Eel, shrimp and lobster, etc. are out for me though.

Ed... chicken!?!? :o

Yeah sure - google 'teriyaki chicken sushi' for example :P Don't you guys have it over there?

I love crabs and lobster, but I only eat them a few times a year, this year I have not had any yet. But I will.

I have to butt in. My stepfather in American-Japanese. Sushi is not raw fish, it is seaweed with rice and other things in the middle, it is made into a roll and sliced. Sushimi is raw fish, and it doesn't have parasites because it is frozen to a very low temperature to kill the parasites. :-D

Thanks Christine. Did you mean Sashimi? because I found this:

Yes, I meant Sashimi. Now I feel really dumb.
No...! That wasn't my reason for posting. I should have added, is the info on the site accurate? They say only freshwater fish contains the parasites (not bacteria) that can got you sick.

You can't just eat any fish raw, it must be frozen to a certain temp before it is eaten. Some man almost died because he ate some raw fish that wasn't frozen first, and it was salt water fish (raw tuna, I think). You have to be very careful. The freezers in our homes don't get cold enough for that. People who sell fish for sashimi know exactly what to do.

Yes Christine - I thought some people may have been getting confused. I thought they might like to check it out themselves. Thanks.
