According to John, the armies of the world will gather to do battle with the Lord.

Rev 19:19And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

So, the battle of Armageddon is not a battle between the nations of the world but rather a battle between the nations and Christ.

Rev 16:14For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

This presents a couple of implications being that it would take days, weeks even months for the nations to organize and stage there men and equipment at the battle sight:

1. The armies of Christ would be detectable by the worlds lattest technologies prior to His arrival.
2. The nations of the world will be able to detect the incoming armies of the LORD days, weeks even months prior to the battle.

The Day of the Lord does not come until Antichrist is defeated.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NKJV)
3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Unrepentant sinners of all nations are the enemies of God/Jesus Christ.

Most people assume that we will continue to have all of our wonderful technological developments at the time that Jesus returns, but that is not necessarily what will actually be at the time of His return.

At any time, a comet or other cosmic event such as a huge solar EMF flare could wipe out/destroy all of our world's technology (power grids) in an instant. If this happens, people could literally be traveling by horse or by foot once again.

I believe that Enoch and Elijah will be killed by the Antichrist after they witness to the Remnant of Israel.

Hello JMJ,

Your assessment has merit. However, the scriptures point out that the nations of the world will have been gathered together to battle Christ PRIOR to His arrival. That would imply that they (the nations of the world which are under the influence of Satan) will be aware of His incoming armies approach.

Elisha saw and documented Elijah being taken into heaven in a "chariot of fire" by "a whirlwind."

2 Kings 2:11
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Isaiah states that Christ, at His advent, will come by the same means as Elijah was taken.

Isaiah 66:15For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

I believe that nations of the world are going to see these same chariots (that Elisha saw) approaching earth from a distance. Now, everone has a different opinion as to what they think these flying chariots are and you are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, I think it is possible that, as Christ's chariots get closer, the nations of the world will see this approach and will gather it's armies at Armeggedon in preperation to do battle with the LORD as described in the scriptures.

The Day of the Lord does not come until Antichrist is defeated.

JMJ do you have a scripture reference for your statement?

I see Rev. 20, as the earth was before it was created. (Jer. 4:22-27 to a T!;))

satan is here alive alone during the 1000 years of the executional judgement of all of the D-E-A-D wicked. Rev. 20:12 find no wicked in heaven, but only their accurate RECORD BOOKS. (1 Cor. 6:2-3) Finds Christ has came bodily the second time with all the holy angels with him. (+ some saints who came out of their graves after His resurection)

But this time ALL the saved are to be resurrected & will be in heaven during this judgement. The living along with the dead rightous will have their resurection when Christ comes. (called the first resurection Rev. 20:4-7)

And when Christ came the wicked who had died, stay dead & the living wicked will all be slain at the Brilliance of God! 2 Thess. 2:8.

OK: At the end of the 1000 years the New Jerusalem is seen decending to a desolate bottomless pit earth... and just before New Jerusalem sets down God gives the wicked their resurrection. They all come out of the grave as evil as they went into it, & still with their Gen. 4:7 Desire, the same as seen from Cain on, think of some of these who had never lost a battle!?? Men of giant intellict + stature, and surely satan has no problem with these millions + ones deciding that they can take this city! It is then that God brings fire down from heaven & EXECUTES all of the wicked out of Eternity! Obad. 1:16

He will then recreate planet earth + her heavens. And the New Jersulem will set down in her 'promised' land. Yes! This is the way that 'i' see it.:chin

Hello Elijah674,

You stated: OK: At the end of the 1000 years the New Jerusalem is seen decending to a desolate bottomless pit earth... and just before New Jerusalem sets down God gives the wicked their resurrection.

My response: I believe that the New Jerusalem decends at the the beginning of the Millennium. One of the verses which gives credence to this is Revelation 21:4 which is a verse that is to be fulfilled on the Day-of-th-LORD (the beginning of the Millennium).

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Another reason I believe that New Jerusalem decends on the day-of-the-LORD is that this tabernacle will be a "santuary" from the "outside" (the rest of the planet) which will have been decimated by the "vials of wrath." This thought is based on:

That the resurrected Christians will rule the nations with Christ during the Millennium.

Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

The Christians aren't going to "rule them with a rod of iron" over other Christians. But rather we are going to rule the unsaved individuals which go into the Millennium.

Zechariah 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

The earth is not going to be a very pleasant place at that time.

Zechariah 14:17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

So one of the functions of the New Jerusalem During the Millennium will be a place for Christians to abode.

Revelation 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

And "the nations which came against Jerusalem" will be on the "outside" where there will be "weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Revelation 22:14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
