Yes, and that is what I have already stated. Jesus was talking to the Pharisees, and given what the gospels say of the Pharisees, clearly the kingdom of God could not have literally been "within" them, that is inside of them. He was speaking about himself and the authority by which he was performing miracles--he was in their midst, bringing the presence of the kingdom of God.

Incorrect, Free maybe take a look at what your spirit and soul means to you..

When Jesus spoke of the kingdom of God within us, Luke 17:20-23, he was saying it is in the midst of those who have been Spiritually renewed, born-again, John 3:3, so it really should be understood as Jesus saying the Kingdom of God is within your midst, or among you. In other words, wherever Jesus is, it accompanies him. What it does not mean is that it resides IN everyone.

You're right it doesn't reside in everyone. The Kingdom of God only resides on the inside of those who have already come to Faith. How could Jesus that walked this earth be an intercessor between humanity and God if God's spirit wasn't on the inside of HIS soul and spirit? What do you think spiritually renewed means?

Check out what your soul and spirit means to you..

Not likely. The understanding which I have given best fits the context of the verse and the rest of the NT.

If you take a look at the spirit and soul thread, you can see how it relates to the Kingdom of God being within you. When they say 'around you' and 'in the midst of you', it's because after you come to Faith it was always on the INSIDE of you to begin with. The light of God is on the INSIDE of you which illuminates around you and in the midst of you. The thread also refers to the scriptures.

The soul and the spirit are connected, but separable. The soul is the essence of humanity’s being; it is who we are as in our character. The spirit is the aspect of humanity that connects with God and that is where the kingdom of God is in our spirit that connects to God through being Spiritually renewed, born-again according to John 3:3.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

John 3:
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

If I am not mistaken, that is what "New Agers" and others of the "New Spirituality" believe but that is not what the Bible teaches.

Anyway, this topic is about where one will spend eternity.

Let's try and leave the spirit/soul discussion for the spirit/soul thread.
