Which would you choose?

My friend left me a message on her Status Update. It says: which would you choose, 'A lie that brings so much happiness and freedom' or 'A truth that brings so much tears and sorrow'?

---
I laughed and kept silent. I didn't reply.
What would you answer?

I know we have our different opinions. Some would say, let it happen first - and I would know what to answer. Some would answer that which a christian would love to hear.

I sure would like to say I would take the high road, but I'm not convinced I would.

The other day, I was over at the in-laws, and my mother-in-law asked me if we used the handicap placard or not. My father-in-law drove me to a medical appointment. I was scared for a moment because my mother-in-law is hyper sensitive about where she parks her car, and I didn't want my father-in-law to get in trouble. I told the truth, but only after contemplating a lie.

I would not tell one lie to save the souls of all the world.

John Wesley

I had one more quote to add. If you ever heard A. W. Tozer preach, you should be able to hear his twangy voice when you read the quote. I know Tozer was a serious preacher, but I found the quote humorous.

Christians don't tell lies they just go to church and sing them.

:toofunny o my Goodness i am remembering granny alexander lol yup o my Davies that is just too funny

:lol

That is the hard part.
My pastor has a funny way of settling such a tempting situation. He always says: 'God tells you what to do'. He wouldn't ask us to lie.

Can't answer. It would depend on the particular lie, and on the particular truth.

Let's make it clear now. I have an illustration to give (and don't ask me what crime he committed - a big one):
Someone committed a crime, a very big crime, deserving of death. And this man is the only hope of survival of his family and children. He is the breadwinner.

A witness is needed; you are the witness, O Forumer. The rule is only 'He is guilty - he committed the crime' or 'He isn't guilty - he didn't commit the crime'. There is no 'I don't know - I have to shut up'. It is not allowed and/or is equivalent to saying yes. (Sorry, reba:chin)

You are a 'CHRISTIAN' and you are the witness. Would you say YES (guilty) and allow this man to be murdered... and bring sorrow to the family OR would you say NO (not guilty) and let him walk away and bring happiness to the family?

In your decision, how about JESUS (you as a christian)?

I just had a conversation with my cousin on this topic. He said: 'If the man dies, his blood is on your head, and if he lives...you have abused the Cross.

Let's say it has to do with fraud and/or rape by this man. Only one person witnessed the crime.

A non-Christian can attempt too:wave

hitler had relatives.

so we shouldnt have tried him?

if he is indeed guilty by the juris prudence of the state he will be found guilty by me. if the evidence shows that he is.

sorry freeing that rapist wont mean he will provide for his wife. he may rape her.

my wifes second husband did attempt to rape her oldest and raped her friend.

You're tripping on your own shoe laces.

But I invite you to explain why a witness is required to allow someone to be murdered.

The bad guys crime convected him. Not the words of a witness. The lies will trap you just as the bad guys sins trapped him.

A confirmation is needed, a visual confirmation. And let's say the abused is not 100% trusted. But this mas has seen all, perhaps he has the video.

There are three things to consider: Christ, truth and lie. It is either Christ and truth (for a christian)or 'lie' alone. We could have different opinions.
