Report: NFL apologizes to Bucs for bad call in loss to Lions
Chris McCosky / The Detroit News
According to the St. Petersburg Times, the NFL has acknowledged the officials made a mistake when they flagged Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Kellen Winslow for offensive pass interference against the Lions last Sunday.
The call negated what would have been a go-ahead touchdown. The Lions won the game 23-20 in overtime.

"They apologized," Bucs offensive coordinator Greg Olson told the Times. "We've had a number of those this year. It's real discouraging. We've played some tight games, but you can't have those kinds of mistakes."
There was 9:02 left in the game when Winslow disengaged from Lions safety C.C. Brown in the end zone and caught the pass. After the 10-yard penalty, the Bucs failed to convert on third-and-goal from the 12 and settled for a field goal, tying the game at 17-17.

They did when it comes down to it.
Erase that terrible call and the Bucs finish 11-5, win the tie-breaker, and the saints never make the playoffs. Not to mention the 1223828238 injuries.
wow what a meat head....
The Saints are my team...
you didn't see me bragging when the beat our top seed
why are you so sap happy
its a game...
no need to be a meat head
we still beat you guys
We took out brees you guys a re what :P
We beat you 1 week ago. I am happy because I am sick and tired of seeing new orleans on every single commercial and that stupid 'who dat' slogan.
Took out brees? yeah after we were up like 2 touchdowns you did. Injuries took out half of our defense and some key offense starters.
Why so hostile, man?
1.you're posting in the wrong section
2. you're being ofensive
3. you're being unrealistic
bad training?
If we won the Super Bowl last year with the best team at the time we deserve the right to the media exposure
deal with it move on
stop crying over spilled milk
Bucs didn't get that exposure when they won.
The colts didnt
the patriots dont
The steelers dont.
None of them got this level of exposure
The only other team who probably would have is dallas.
What is the proper forum to post this sort of topic for future reference?
Sports, Health & Nutrition
they got exposure
their first times around
just because your team fails year after year don't get upset
i didn't
we suck
and?
Wow. You should probably work on that.
you started
:p
it's called one upping
its the world of sports fandom
Ashy, do you still have yours in a bundle because of that play? Come now, you know - YOU KNOW - the Lions got jobbed worse than anyone this year in Chicago - week one.
I don't see much to hate on the Who Dat nation. I do see something to hate on in a coach from USC who skipped town as the boom was being brought down on them and headed back to coach in the pros, leaving others to clean up his mess. I won't mention any names, but I have disdain for any coach who would do that. ;)
Really hopin' the Jets get their teeth kicked in tonight. There's another coach (won't mention any names) who I'd like to see get the boot!

If this was a sports message board, where I could get away with more without fear of being closed, I would explain how nonsensical that is. I was referring to your personal attacks in addition to your lecturing me on 'sportsmanship' in the same breath as bashing my team which just beat your team a week ago.
Any time you want to talk football, pm me.
sorry if i was rude...i'm a victim of randomfandom outburst of non sense
hey i like windows so something must be wrong with me
Hey, it's all good anyway. Your windbag of a coach and his team means a NY team is still in the mix. Their biggest problem isn't the coach's big mouth (or his wife's feet), it's the Pats! :oOh, come on!! There's nothing like good ol' fashion football smack! All in good fun! :D
