Why can't I wrap Christmas presents?

I just spent three hours wrapping presents and made a mess of every one!

I'm fairly bright, I am accomplished in many areas including working with my hands on delicate things like electronics etc so why do I have this mental block when it comes to wrapping presents? And why do women always do it so well?

What exactly is a mess by your definition? Maybe you're too hard on yourself.

Here's a video on how to wrap a gift. The only thing I do extra is I tape the wrapping paper to the edge of a box (at 0:45 step in the video) when wrapping it around so that it does not slip underneath. You don't need a big piece of tape to hold it.

One other thing. In the future, if you have an irregularly shaped package and don't feel comfortable using the same wrapping principles as for a box, then simply get those Christmas bags to put the gifts in. Then pack some colored tissue paper around the gift so that the recipient can't see it from the top. That's probably the easiest thing to do.

All I got from that video was how disappointed someone is going to be when they get that phone.

I can wrap gifts, but when my wife invites me to help her I just pretend I can't so she will take over. When I give her my gifts, from me to her, she says; "did you wrap this yourself?"

Don't feel bad as my husband wraps better than I do. I am the tape queen when it comes to wrapping. Now I just buy the fancy bags and do not have to hassle with the whole wrapping thing.

It's the XX chromosome...that's it.

:lol The kids wrapped their presents last night. It was.....interesting. As for tape, we decided that we will institute a new tradition here at the Red Tail Ranch.

You have 10 minutes to figure out how to get the present unwrapped. If you can't unwrap it in 10 minutes...it goes back to the closet and you have to wait until next year.

I like to think this is another thing that separates men from women, because I can't wrap gifts either. Maybe if it's a perfectly square or rectangular box, I can make it look somewhat presentable.
