Why do you understand the Bible?

Why do you believe you understand the Bible, especially the New Testament?
Is it important to also understand the Old Testament?
Did you learn from reading it?
From studying under the guidance of a church?
Studying theology?
From the Holy Spirit?
Why do you think you are right in your theology?

Pick one or all.
It's problematic to me that we are not united in our beliefs.

i read it study it yes holy spirit shows me things
i think i am right to a certain degree . i always leave room for learning.. we are all trying to do the best we can . i do pray a lot about what i am studying. i have reading time getting familiar with scripture . then my study time when i meditate for a message .. some times i like to use a good sufferance Bible and compare scriptures..

I do agree with you. It is because of the people not the scriptures, but thats what it does when a religion is put into a collection of books, people have a field day with it. The early believers had no new Testament they just had what they were specifically given.

your dealing with interruption .i interrupt certain scriptures different from others... does that mean i am wrong they are right? no once again i am trying to do the best i can . i may not agree with the Pentecost on the baptism of the spirit.. i may not agree %100 on the teaching of eternal security. i do not agree %100 with those who teach osnas . i liken it to ford trucks chevy truck and dodge trucks.. each one will get the job done Nissan Toyota . nobody will see scriptures in the same way other than jesus way truth life born of a virgin crucified resurrected . yes some groups has watered it down like cheap whiskey in the westerns we watch on t.v

Again, no. Your argument doesn’t even make sense. The books of the Bible show all believers what to believe and how to act and why. Those NT books were passed around and copied so that other churches could read them.

If we didn’t have those books, Christianity would have died out long ago. The problem has nothing to do with the Bible being a collection of books. That can easily be seen if one reads 1 Cor. and other books. Having only been taught, there was division, hence why many NT books were written. In other words, people were a problem before the letters to the churches were written.

I do all that my post says that I do. Not enough, judt like everyone else, lol. If I had it to do over again, I would choose being a Biblical Scholar for a life's ambition and perhaps a trade for the same, if there is such a thing. That, coupled with the presence of the Lord with one as they walked through this life and every day...would make for a good life and service for the Lord while we are here.

i think it would have been cool at a younger age go to bible college /seminar .learn some serious Bible study my fear of today is many churches want the D,R Bro xxxxx than the Bro minister/pastor .being 56 years old the college just is not in the picture plus the expense will eat a person alive . years ago i could have applied to go to billy graham school in OK . my area is lots of fallow ground traditions over Bible truth

It would have been cool. I wasted my Pell grant on a Private Security course so I could (carry my new gun without getting in trouble) get a job. I excelled in it, top 3 in all areas, but then I could go out and get a minimum wage job with a max of what? 10 bucks an hour? No future in it. When kids we were enrolled in a Christian School, but we were too young to take it seriously, so chased girls instead.

I couldn't do anything like that now. No money for tuition or anything. All the more reason to double down personal studies. I will. It will be an act of my will but I am going to do this and without distractions. It's amazing how when one is trying to study more or pray more, that, suddenly everything comes up as distractions and this needs done, that needs done. It steals my time and is nothing more than spiritual attacks. I will do this thing. I will dominate my flesh and it's desires...

And If Paul letters were for all the church then they would be directed to the entire church. It wouldn't say "To my beloved Son Timothy" with a seal and delivered and really mean "To every believer in Christ".

I can't remember every single sentence in the bible thats why its profitable for reproof and correction as you have pointed out. So, since you have shown the scripture then I stand corrected rather than being a boastful religious leader who thinks they know everything and wont dared be corrected.

But, if you read my last post in here you will see I did edit after I rechecked the scripture and said some letters were given to others to read.

I don't think the world had the Torah. It was Jew.

There is nothing in those verses to suggest that Gentile believers only had the gospel preached and not the Law and the Prophets, or other parts of the OT. The NT cannot be taught while ignoring the OT.

I'm sure that once the gentiles became believers in our Lord, they were taught about Adam, Noah Abraham, Moses, David, etc.

I'm sure they were also taught the moral law.

The more intelligent or educated most probably knew about them anyway...in the same sense that we know about the big names in history although they are NOT part of our culture. However the others probably did not know israel's history.
