WHY IS THERE EVIL IN THE WORLD?

GodsGrace

CF Ambassador
I often read members speaking about evil and trying to tell each other where it came from, or who created it, or when did it start.

Where did evil come from?
Why is there evil in the world?

Dorothy Mae states:

Wondering, God didn’t create good, love, courage, kindness or evil, hate, murder, or thievery. You can read Genesis through and through or Job and you’ll find God made matter, not the non-material.

He did not create concepts or morals. He created light not darkness. Do you see what I mean?

No. I don't see what you mean.

Are you actually saying God did NOT create morals?
Then whose morals are we following if not His?

You told me you know how or why evil is in the world.
I'm telling you we don't know.
You insist that you know.
So please inform us of why there is evil in the world.

You said the angels fell.
So did man.

So where was the evil if evil was still in the tree of Good and Evil?

The non-material matters such as love, peace, joy, kindness, gentleness, justice and so on are who He is. They are his character. They aren’t what He invented.

So the opposites are seen in those choices that are not in line with his character. So we see God made light but not darkness. Darkness is the absence of light.

So goodness is in his will, evil
is the opposite of His will.

So evil happens when free moral agents do the opposite of good. It isn’t “created” same as good isn’t invented.

You're missing the point here.
Which is why you believe you have the answer.

If God is all-good and created only good,
then where do we get evil?

WHY do we make choices that are not in line with God's character if He created only good?

Which is why you believe you have the answer.
I don’t just believe it, I understand it. You’re seeing evil as a created almost material matter invented by God same as the trees.
If God is all-good and created only good,
then where do we get evil?
Good to be good requires freedom to choose otherwise but doesn’t. God is not good because He is unable to do otherwise. He is good because He always chooses good. But in making free moral agents who can love and be all the other virtues, they must also be free not to choose good, same as God.
WHY do we make choices that are not in line with God's character if He created only good?
He didn’t create good. He didn’t create courage. He didn’t create kindness. This is where you are making a mistake. You are assuming He created the concept of moral good. He didn’t. They emanate from who He is. Read Genesis again. All that God created is and flows from energy. God released energy in His words that became material. He did not create morals or lack thereof.

Evil is the rejection of God, his commands and living contrary to his laws and wil

Evil is in the world because Adam rejected Gods comand.
Why did Adam reject God's command?
Was there something in Adam that made him disobey?

God explains it this way:

Unchecked Copy Box
Jer 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Why did Adam reject God's command?
Was there something in Adam that made him disobey?
Free will. What does the Bible say about the origin of sin?

You want and don’t have (that was Adam and Eve for sure)

You don’t have because you don’t ask (again Adam and Eve for sure)

Why do you ask where evil comes from and not love or courage or kindness or anger?

I can't believe you're saying this D.
You say God didn't create good.
He said everything He created in Genesis was good.
And could you explain the difference between creating morality and morality emanating from Him?
God IS morality.
But certainly this morality has been transferred to man's concept of natural law.

Because of freewill and choices made .
The question is how is this choice made by free will even be possible if everything God made was good?

I'm going to say, right now, that there is no answer to where evil originates.
Calvinists state, rather bluntly, that God created evil.

If this is true (which I do not believe it is) then God is not loves itself (1 John 4:8)
and He is not all-good, merciful, and just.

So there has to be another answer.
I don't believe we know what that answer is.

Evil is the rejection of God, his commands and living contrary to his laws and wil

Sounds good.
God did tell Adam not to eat of the fruit from the tree of Good and Evil.

Adam had not eaten of the fruit yet...
why did he eat it?
It was an evil he did.
Where was that evil in nature or in man if he had not eaten of the apple yet?
