Why?

Why do you love the Lord?

Is it for what He gives us when we ask for certain things, or what He has and continues to do for us everyday.

Are these the same thing or are they different?

Just feeling curious :chin

Because how many people do you know who would willingly hand over their child to you to be tortured to death for your benefit? *crickets chirp* (Sure Jesus was the only perfect child but I think you still get my point. :cross)

This is one reason why we love Him as He laid down His life willingly that we can have eternal life through Him and with Him.

Are you willing to lay down your life that another will have eternal life through Christ? You don't have to answer that as it's something to think about.

I think I love The Lord because He spared me when I was in darkness and then...He knocked at my heart's door, provided what I needed to respond, and He's been changing me ever since.

Obviously, it helps that He's willed to make me healthy, surprisingly normal, and willed reconciliation with my parents. Would I love Him even if these things hadn't come to pass, by His grace? I'd like to think so. I might not be alive though, is the thing...there's...that. eeek.

I love the Lord for many reasons. Some of which are
I never feel alone
He loves everyone '" even me
He understands me
Never falsely accused
Jesus is truth, light, love, and everyone can trust Him
Yes of course for all He gave up for us, for all He suffered.
His faithfulness
Jesus never breaks a promise
Doesn't easily give up on us
Etc. Etc.

Probably not, but if I did then I would have to call Jesus out for a challenge, probably not because there is no need for a second Jesus, probably not because im weaker than God.

I believe I am strong in Spirit, but majorly weak in the flesh.

Truthfully,... probably not.

I would in a heart beat if it brings another to the Lord. If I have to die a martyr's death by the hands of another the last words I would speak is Jesus loves you and I forgive you.

That's really good that you would and I guess that it just depends on the situation. I was just being honest.

We are all weak in the flesh. That is why we need to be walking in the Spirit.

There is no need to think of needing or being a second Jesus, but something of being, no greater love that even we would lay our life down for another, but not everyone is there yet in this thought to do so if need be.

That's the thing. I would lay down my life for a close friend or family member,.. I just wouldn't do it for a complete stranger even if it meant they would come to Jesus afterwards.

There are people including non Chrisitans who have layed there life down for others. You hear it in the news all the time when someone dies trying to save others. They put other lives before there own to save them first. They risked there life to save others. I guess that's the same thing.

There are many servicemen and servicewomen out there that do a good job in general like Lifesavers, police, fire, military, paramedics, and then there is the regular Joe that took a bullet for someone else, and so on.

Even our Muslim friend Mohammad asked the Saudi government if he could take 100 lashes for someone who was unfairly sentenced to 1000 lashes.

I agree with all of this, but this is different then what Jesus did for us in laying down His life that we can have eternal life with the Father to all who will believe in Him.

It's like the centurion and those who were with him at the cross watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God, Matthew 27:54.

If I was being persecuted to death for my witness and testimony for the sake of Christ, I too would lay my life down so by what others would hear and see they would say I truly was a child of God, which hopefully in turn cause others to believer in Christ.

So you would just keep a complete stranger from receiving God's salvation because they are a stranger and you don't want to be bothered to witness and testify of Christ to them even if it cost you your life to bring them to Christ!!!

We were all strangers to Christ before we heard others witness and testify of Him. There are many that have died a martyr's death for the sake of Christ that have led many strangers to accept Christ as Lord and Savior.

There's no need to yell at me for that just because your answer is different than mine.

I never yelled at you as I was making a comment on your answer. I'm sorry you took it the wrong way. I was only showing how we were all strangers to Christ at one time. It was not a personal attack so let's move past it.

Because He loves me, and laid down His life for me.
He promised He would never leave me nor forsake me.
He promised me eternal life, which brings me peace, in this crazy world, lol.

As other have said, because of what he has done for me.
There is a Heaven and there is aHell. I cannot earn a place in Heaven and he has given me that hope plus so many other benefits and priviledges.

Can you expound on some of the benefits and privileges?
