Will Religious War ever end?

What can stop religious war? Will it ever end?

Even in a given belief there is war, people disagree with one another.

Belief A fights against belief B
Belief A is still divided against itself: A-leftist and A-rightist.
Belief B is still divided against itself: B-leftist and B-rightist.
:dunno :shrug :confused :shocked

If no, is praying for peace a waste of time?

the lords prayer that was taught in matthew 6 says that we ought to pray for his kingdom to come and his will be done on earth as it is in heaven. so no praying for peace isnt a waste of time

but these wars shall not end until HIS return.

Hi Classik,

I would say we all have to die first before war ends. I think it will culminate after the thousand year reign of Jesus Christ on the earth when He puts down the uprising of Satan and death and Hades are thrown into the lake of fire. We have a long time to go.

It is my feeling that religious wars will continue as long as man is willing to die for what they believe....
so men serving the us shouldnt do so? surely you are aware that not all wars or threats are from religious fanatics. hmm im thinking of communism and fascism.

Um, he (modernnihilst) has a point. Right now, in essence, the US is not involved in any oversea religious war. Our men and women are engaged in action in defense of certain liberties we cherish and wish for others to experience. So comparing our current military actions to a religious war isn't the issue. Now, the opposition may see this as a "holy war' but that is a different topic. ;)

It has been said (and erroneously attributed to Edmund Burke) that:

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

I believe that.

Speaking of Burke...
It is my feeling that religious wars will continue as long as man is willing to die for what they believe....
Burke did say this:

"Nothing is so fatal to religion as indifference."

I believe that too. :yes

Yes it will -

What can stop religious war?

The Holy Spirit, of course. He's the ONLY one who can do it. I watched a small example of it during the Charismatic outpouring in Ohio back in the '70s.

"is praying for peace a waste of time?"

Nope - praying for a GOOD thing is always a fine idea.

What's a total waste of time is trying to BRING "Religious Peace" with nothing more than Human wisdom/understanding, and "Theology"/"Apologetics".

"Religious War" will cease when the "Kingdom of God" comes at the end of the age.

No, it will never end until the last battle of the end of days which will be the gathering of the bride of Christ (those who have repented) as she has made herself ready as she endured until the end of days, both dead and alive and will be taken in the air to meet Jesus while the angel chains Satan and throws him into the Abyss for a time.

Jesus then comes down to earth to stand on the Mt. Of Olives with his army (we the saints) to fight the final battle as he cast the beast and the false prophet into the lake of fire and makes an end to the abominations of Papal Rome.

Jesus will then let Satan loose from the Abyss and with Satan’s army will rage war on all the nations but will be consumed by the fire of heaven and will be cast into the lake of fire and sulfur with his army for eternity. After this God will bring everyone into his throne of judgment and those not found in the Lambs book of Life will be cast also into the lake of fire and sulfur with the beast, false prophet, Satan and all his army thus ushering in the new heaven and the new Jerusalem that we will be with the Lord forever.
