Will the Real Antichrist Please Stand Up

Trying to use the word "after" to extend... the 69th week into the 70th week is fallacy. There is no Scripture support for doing such a thing.

What does after mean to you?

And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;

Do you believe the Messiah was cut off before the sixty two weeks?

Verse 26 is telling us its events were in between the 69th and 70th week.

And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
Daniel 9:26

  • after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.

Both Messiah being cut off and the destruction of the city and sanctuary take place after the 62 weeks, and before the 70th week begins.

Actually the scripture to support this is the scripture I quoted and the word “after”.

And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
Daniel 9:26

”Messiah the Prince” refers to the Sunday when Jesus rode into the city on a “foal of an ass” and all the city came out to Him crying Hosanna to the son of David. The son of a king (king David) is a prince.

Hosanna is an expression referring to the Messiah and comes from Psalm 118…

Save now, I pray, O LORD;
O LORD, I pray, send now prosperity.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!
Psalm 118:25-26

Jesus told the Pharisee’s who wanted Him to stop the crowds from this… if these people don’t praise Me, the rocks would cry out.

He is saying to them prophecy is being fulfilled before your eyes and nothing will stop it from coming to pass.

That day has come to be called Palm Sunday, five days later the Messiah would be crucified as the Passover Lamb.

Thus Messiah was “cut off” after Palm Sunday on the Passover.

Hi DavidT
Cannot follow this thread since I know little to nothing about eschatology..

But, what do you mean by the PSEUDO CHRIST?
Thanks.

These are not actions of one claiming to be Gods Christ but of a anti-Christ as in one who takes his stand against the true Christ. In those days the truth will be thrown to the ground.
Rev 13
The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.

He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

The whole world looked on as God gave these signs (Rev 11) so that if any did have a shred of faith and love for God and His ways in those days they would be saved before the lie of the beast is allowed to deceive any.

But those who take joy in the death of Gods two witnesses by the beast they will fall to his lies so as to be condemned for they refuse the truth and delight in wickedness. God allows this powerful delusion for this very purpose.
