Would you.....

Would you rather be poor and work at a job that you love or rich and work at a job that you hate?

yeah...if I had a sweet job, I'd save my monies and then do something else. Or not work. Or...move away somewhere and live cheap. I dunno.

Having had terrible experiences living in poverty, I'm not *real* eager to go there again, you know?

I knew know this guy who was an engineer. He made a ton of money but he hated engineering. He used the bundle of money he made on engineering and went to school and into the medical field.

What would your definition of poor be?
I doubt anyone of this forum is poor, or they would not have daily access to the internet.
A truly poor person, if they have a job at all, is doing hard laboring work at minimum wage or less.
How can anyone love that?
Then again, a truly poor person that even has a job is thankful just for that.

We change our own minds?Would it not be best to follow what God's plan is for us?Are we then trying to control our own lives.
people do have age problems. I certainly couldn't be mechanic at the 55. try busting a semi tire at that age. or yanking out hydraulic cylinders in access holes on garbage trucks its not that hard but one does still have some mobility to do that. some days and some backs may be too gone to allow that without surgery or meds.

I stopped liking the military a few years ago. yet I still serve.

I dunno. I have nothing negative to compare anything to.

I've had two jobs in my life, loved them both. (Three, if you count the Military... and I loved that, too) And I'm not exactly rich, but I'm fairly well to do.

I make more money doing a job that I didn't like but I have made the best of. in order for me to go back to turning wrenches. I would either have to lie to make the sales that they like and also find someone to teach me the things I don't know. in the process of that I would make way less.

Ever considered Aircraft Mechanics? The work is a lot easier, and the pay is a lot higher than Auto.

I live in an aviation haven, and well that is the reason I don't go into it. its about the same. a friend of mine left that field as an A&P faa certified tech. he worked for places that I go to inform them pay up or loose your power and water.he is going for commission and likely it will be aviation. he did that as enlisted and was the only faa certified tech in his unit. unless one works for the major airlines. but I have bought my home here so that is out of the question. Orlando and west palm are the closest hubs.

You are right. But as long as they have what they need such as a roof over their head and food.As long as they have Jesus Christ and they are happy. You would be surprised at the very small amount that a person actually needs not wants.

When I was still in technical college and we had job prospects coming our way I was 30 years old and with the experience I had I remember telling my youthful classmates that pay scale came in relatively low on my list of priorities when considering potential employment.

First, there's a difference between a job and a career. When it comes to a job one can put up with a lot of bunk for the sake of the paycheck it might provide. This is because a job is temporary whereas a career is a lifelong pursuit.

Here's what I told my classmates was my list of priorities in order of importance with regard to a potential career.
1. What will I be doing. If I'm miserable with the work I will be miserable with my life and that would not be good.
2. Where will I be living. I could never accept a career position in Phoenix for example because I know I could never be happy in a desert. The only way I could possibly justify accepting an offer in a desert location is if it paid so well, that I knew I could save enough to quit within a very short few years and get out of there.
3. What is the benefits package that is included. Being in my 30's at the time medical coverage was high priority followed closely by my vacation package.
4. What is the retirement package? This too was beginning to gain priority for me.
5. What is the potential earnings.
6. What is the potential growth opportunities within the company.
