Wresting or Reasoning Scripture

His answer was longer. He is the head of the body of Christ and He asked the man to sell all He had and give it to the poor and follow Him. The man walked away downcast. In acts it was repent and be baptized and you will receive the promised Holy Spirit.

What happened to your believe only and be saved?

Sorry Randy, but I didn’t write the scriptures.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

  • whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12

  • lest they should believe and be saved.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

  • believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13

So which one of these scriptures do you disagree with?

Please, post the scripture for your claim that we are saved by our deeds.

If one who proclaims Christ as Lord holds to the testimony and obey Jesus commands that would show me they belong to Him.

Obeying His commandments is for people who are already saved and have the ability, the Holy Spirit within them that empowers them to obey the Lord.

Keeping His commandments is how we “remain” in Christ.

We come to be in Christ by believing (and therefore obeying) the Gospel.

We remain in Christ by obeying His commandments.

Judas was one given to Christ (Jn 17:6,9). Hence Judas was one given eternal life but later lost it.

No verse says Judas was always lost, never saved but always a devil. People are assuming that idea into the Bible.

Amen. This is true.

In addition Judas was predestined to reign with Christ in the age to come with the other apostles.

So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:28

Really.
So Jesus wasn't already aware of what His Apostles knew?
“For,” said Peter, “it is written in the Book of Psalms:
“‘May his place be deserted;
let there be no one to dwell in it,’
and,
“‘May another take his place of leadership.

And what Jesus had stated beforehand
And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter"--the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the LORD.

If Judas were predestined by God then it would have been done.
Rather Jesus knew beforehand Judas was doomed to destruction.
As Jesus told the Father, "None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled."

If Judas were predestined by God then it would have been done.

That’s just it, it’s not done, as we can all plainly see.

God desires for all 12 to be faithful and reap the reward He has planned for them, but each person must choose His will for their life. Judas chose to become a traitor.

He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’ Revelation 3:4-5

  • and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life;

People names are written in the Book of life before the foundation of the world, but some will be blotted out.

God predestines for them to have everlasting life, as He wrote their names in the Book of Life before hand.

Judas was a follower of Jesus Christ, and a disciple, and became an Apostle, then he became a traitor.

I have lost NONE except the one doomed to destruction so that the scriptures would be fulfilled.

Judas was shown as a thief and devil during the ministry.

That's what I know.

The ministry was 3 years. So using your reasoning the impact Jesus had on him was he spiraled downward in those 3 years to a devil.

I would suggest the fault was in his heart from the beginning.

And please post the scripture that you never did, that says we are born again by doing deeds.

Please quote scripture with context so we can all examine what you are saying, from the scriptures.

Thief during the ministry.
Then Mary took about a pint a of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5“Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages. He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

Called a devil during the ministry by Jesus. (IS a devil-present tense)
Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit e and life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Then Jesus replied, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” 71(He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)

Doomed to destruction - to fulfill scripture
While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
