Yeshua or Jesus?

Why not Yeshua and Jesus? Yeshua gives us the true Hebrew name as used by the Hebrews, and reveals that Christ Himself is our Salvation. At the same time, Jesus is how Christ is known to the world, and better yet, the Lord Jesus Christ. "God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, BOTH Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:36).

What does matter is that Christ is no longer simply "Jesus", but He is the Lord Jesus Christ. Too many preachers and too many Christians miss this truth, and we hear only "Jesus".

He is Lord of Heaven and earth, because He conquered sin, Hell, death, Hades, and Satan, and all the angels of God are commanded to worship Him. He is also Lord and Master of every Christian, and we are to confess "the Lord Jesus" with our mouths. And He is Christ because He not only proved that He is the Anointed One by His life and His miracles, but even more so by becoming the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world.

And finally He is Yeshua because He is the LORD [YHWH] our Righteousness (Jer 23:6) and also the Sun of Righteousness (Mal 4:2) with healing in His wings.

Christ isn't his last name or something, there is actually a definite article in the Greek in between Jesus and Christ, which means Messiah. So basically it is "Jesus the Messiah."

That's a given. Nobody goes around saying "Jesus the Christ" or "Jesus the Messiah". And all English Bibles have "Lord Jesus Christ" embedded in them.

Some people do actually. It is confusing to those who don't understand what "Christ" means, since it is merely a transliteration of Christos, which means the Anointed One. And of course is a reference to the Messiah who would be the King of Israel of the line of David.

I personally think it's very helpful to put the definite article in and say Jesus the Christ, just as Peter said, "You are the Christ," not as a last name, but as a title.

Sometimes I call him by His real Hebrew name, some people don't even know who you are talking about. But sometimes when praying I will call Him Yeshua. I like calling Him that why ? Because that is His name and that is what they called Him when He walked the earth.

That's totally fine to do. :)

Many people of different tongues call him by different names, but we all worship and praise the same Lord.

I think your right.

I think it only matters to those who hold to the doctrine of supersessionism. When their doctrine states that what was given by God to the Jews has been ripped from them and given to the church. To them it matters that we continue to identify with the 'Jewish' Jesus. >>Because Jews are all losts and all reject Jesus, sons of the devil and need to be converted or will be damned to hell. Why would you want to use the 'hebrew' name when you can use the name given to the 'church'? <<<innuendo To those who believe like this, it matters. To the rest of us who believe the true word of God (the prophets) it does not.

Jesus' disciples would have called him Yeshua, and Jesus is just the English Transliteration of Iesous, which is the Greek form of Yeshua. I don't think it would matter in any format.
 
The NT's in Greek, Jesus has been used for many years, I don't see the problem with it. People say that the letter "J" is only 400 years old. So what, we speak English. Should we remove all "J's" from the bible? Also, I agree that it doesn't matter. Jesus Christ is a title that literally means Savior Messiah, with Messiah more specifically meaning, the Anointed One, like King David.

I don't have all my older bibles enabled, but there was a time that some might not have understood the name of Jesus the way it was translated into English.

Jesus/Yeshua is Hebrew from the line of the tribe of Judah who spoke Aramaic which was a form of Hebrew his Disciples called him Yeshua or Yeshu because they were also Hebrew
most of the new testament was written in Koni Greek except where Jesus spoke and that was in Aramaic in the original text which was later translated to greek then latin and eventually Old English etc. and so on

The name "Jesus" is not the true name of the Son. It is a mixture of Hebrew (Yeshua), Greek (Iesous), Latin (Iesus) and English (Jesus). You can easily see the transformation the name has undergone. If you love the truth, then you live the truth by speaking the truth.

It is OK to use "Jesus" when speaking to unbelievers, at least until they understand who you are talking about. However, once believers understand that "Jesus" is not the name given to the Son, they should abandon it and embrace the true name.

Jesus is the translation of Yeshua therefore if you speak only english then using the translated Name is perfectly fine and Jesus/Yeshua doesn't have a problem with it neither should we.
 
If you called Him, George, with the love, respect, and understanding of who He is, and who you are in His family, I suspect He would smile.

It isn't that we get a label correctly pronounced, but that we know Him.

Good grief....... will our craving for Legalism EVER be satisfied?
