Zombies and Pizzguy

I'm in Michigan last week and next week. I'm going to be up here a LOT, working over the next three-four months. Now, we have all seen the Facebook posts, quizzes, polls and baloney about what we would do (or how we would survive) in "the Zombie Apocalypse".

Zombies-zombies-zombies.... I never quite got tired of this nonsense until I got up here. Many cars have bumper stickers talking about zombies, I even saw one car this week with the back and sides plastered with "I'm a Zombie warrior" and websites with zombie in their url, etc.

It is to the point that, after only a week up here, I am moved to scream out, "GROW UP. YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE AND OWN A CAR, YOU LOOK FOOLISH".

Am I the only one getting tired of this? And where, just where did this idiocy come from?
 
I am so sick of zombies.

I didn't like'em the "The Night of the Living Dead" and I still don't.

I'm totally embarrassed to say that a fair portion of our congregation just dotes on that show. Go figure, otherwise, they seem to be reasonably intelligent people.
 
I couldn't care less about zombies. Though I have to wonder about the guy who claims he is a "Zombie Warrior." One would actually have had fought with zombies, or is a zombie themselves, to actually be a zombie warrior.

In reality, I do not see anything that could turn people into zombies, as they are depicted on tv and in movies. Even Ebola just kills its victims, it does not turn them into flesh eating humanoids.
 
Sometimes I see zombie culture as an unknowing, subliminal mocking of the true Resurrection of Christ and His saints. It's a dark spiritual fad, along with this sudden obsession with owls and occult fashion.

And other times I think I'm reading too much into it and should relax.
 
Owls and occult fashion? I was unaware and wish to remain so!

And I see no science here, either. It would seem, from reading online, that it all started with the "Dead" movies in the 60's and 70's -but if that is true, then why did it take 30 or more years to surface?

I think that this whole thing is partly driven by something that a friend of mine has commented on, his saying goes like this:
"Religion is NOT the opiate of the masses, corporate pop culture is."

I see that the CDC and the Weather channel have fed into this sillyness, see "Government and Media Response":

Many in the Christian world got after me for not approving of Harry Potter... :shrug
 
Harry Potter? I saw thru that the first time I heard about it.

My own sister defended Harry Potter - for a time, but eventually she abandoned her arrogant-disagree-with-everthing-Mark-says ways when she started paying attention to the actual content.
 
Ive never been big on zombies but if Im in a nostalgic mood and having a scary movie night I might watch the 80s night of the living dead but if freddy is on freddy wins

You could probably find something "of the Devil" in pretty much every book, movie or TV show if you wanted. Harry Potter promotes magic, as do the Chronicles of Narnia and the Discworld series, and Mary Poppins promotes gay marriage.


About 45 seconds into the video we see 2 male robins "feathering their nest".

I'm not into scary movies. I don't scare easily, I'm a realist, but when I first saw Freddy in the '80's I was honestly freaked out that you could not get away from that creep.
