unless its something that is like the crabs, I will come back to take them. that was the case with the forklift. I saw that when I wasn't even in hour into reading. so I thought well I have got to dig a meter out at that building so why not. I also took a lot of photos from there. work first. play time later. Viking inn/apartment which has been repainted I will photo when I park near it. I park there and walkout the east and almost final section of the route.a few araes I must drive out. I will add in some old hotels from the 50's

The 50s had some interesting architectural designs....... I'm looking forward to seeing the photos!

those aren't easy to spot all the time. I have been corrected in assuming a few old style gas stations were from the 50's they were built after 57, at the earliest. these are old enough,not on the route for tomorrow but the grenada route. that route which has a lot of interesting things. such as my old church location.vero beach church of god split in about 1970 into three churches. mine, winter beach church of god, and gates of praise.yet the gas stations did have the colored bathrooms.
 
Considering how some architects like to use retro designs for newer buildings, it would at times make it a challenge to go into a new area and not always know the true age (or approximate age) of a place.

In one of the cities in which I've lived, a local restaurant chose the 50's design for the building, and used the 50s theme for the interior decorating. It was interesting, at least. (The food wasn't very good, though)

no, these are older then me for sure. one of them I know is from the 60's. the current fleet manager's dad owned the gas station. he is about my wife's age. I was going to do an old gas station series as well. some of the stuff on tommorows route is from the 50s and prior. that I know from local stories and images.
 
You could do a variety of series, just in your local area, whether it's old gas stations.... cemeteries....churches.... palm trees (had to add that one!) .... the beaches......... even the apartments and houses. I would imagine many property owners would get a kick out of being featured in a calendar!

I still cant believe how tall those palms where at McKee. they had to be hundreds of feet. that video was after one year of the opening of that park. they simply don't grow that fast. waldo sexton had to had them shipped that size. they are durable for that. ah here. two ghost towns for you. both are easily acessable. I need to correct the one on quay. as well the road is called old winter beach road/ winter beach road depending on ones location to the old bridge.

One of these years, I want to explore the ghost towns in southern Illinois. There are 2 books with listings and descriptions. Most no longer have structures, but it would still be interesting to explore, to get a sense of what it was like back in the day.

There are some sites online for Illinois as well......but one has to be careful about quite a few of those sites. Some of the claims have been found to be frauds. Ah, the joys of Illinois!

I need to get the history of it
I walked the hallway to the meter room.I found the old hotel office.or what looks like it.the has been repainted. It was sorely needed .it was orange and red.I use this to find all other old homes such as that brown one.
 
I like the brown house, it looks like the same period.

Wow. That is a very interesting bell tower. I've never seen anything like that before. It's beautiful. It looks like art deco from the 20s and 30s.
