I dunno Brother. Are you saying that you don't believe the donkey talked, or explain why God used a donkey?

I've been perplexed by these verses myself. I know one thing for sure, if it says the ass talked to Balaam, then it really did happen. It had to have happened, otherwise it would mean that the Word of God is not true. Keeping in mind that deception is rampant, and that we've been lied to our whole life...I have to presume that the real truth may be quite different than I've been taught or expect.

So here we have a talking ass. Ok, so this being so, may imply that other animals can talk too if God wants them too.

Now I can't speak assenise, or with the tongue of dogs. But I have seen animals display intelligence and try to communicate with me. My dog can ask me for a bite of what I'm eating by approaching, sitting, looks to my food, then at me, and licks his chops.

Not a big deal at all, I'm sure many of you Brother's & Sisters communicate with your pets in similar fashion. However, your pet simply making the effort to communicate with you, is intriguing. That's not 'dumb animal' behavior. Maybe they're more intelligent than we realize?

Absolutely Brother. It was necessary for Him to open the mouth of the ass, to be able to accomplish His will at that time. Balaam needed to learn something so the Lord did it that way for His reasons.

We don't normally communicate with animals with back and forth speech. It sure is possible though, as is seen here.

Yes, the unicorn was also known as the auroch, and they're extinct now. They didn't have just one horn; more like '#1 of the horned'.

While a talking donkey seems strange, a sword wielding angel (who also talks) should appear just as miraculous.

Balaam would have LOVED to condemn the children of Israel for his paymasters who were Israel's enemies.

But even that man, vile as he was, when he opened his mouth, the LORD SPOKE TRUTH. Not much different that The Lord opening the MOUTH of an ass.

If God can create the entire universe with just a word, He can also give a donkey the ability to speak two lines.

Also, just check out any forum and you will find many talking donkeys.

Where does the scripture say that Balaam practiced magic or read the entrails of a donkey?

Scripture does say that he talked with God.

Num 22:5-13 (NKJV) Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the Riverfn in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me! Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”

So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the diviner’s fee in their hand, and they came to Balaam and spoke to him the words of Balak. And he said to them, “Lodge here tonight, and I will bring back word to you, as the LORD speaks to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.

Then God came to Balaam and said, “Who are these men with you?”

That passage identified Balaam as a person who spoke with God but he disobeyed God because he was offered great wealth.
