On the one on one you do not have to answer immediately, only when you have time. Days may go be before you can get back. Thats a benefit for both parties.

On the one on one it remains a permanent record for all to read in the future and represents the best of each opponent. Yes, it is true one can go back to the common thread but who wants to sift back to countless threads and posts?

Right now I have more time than ever to be near the computer because my wife is very ill.

I don't want to sound mean but perhaps the real reason some don't agree to the one on one is because they fear their lack of knowledge of the scripture. I do not say this to indict anyone's sincerity however.

Best wishes, Billy
Sorry to hear about your wife she is in my prayers as well as you:pray

The whole Bible is the word of God that that brings life to us (living word) as His word is alive and active when we apply it to our life.

Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

John 7: 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood.
See, you're doing it again.

You say the water in John 3 is the WRITTEN word...
but then you post verses that pertain to JESUS being the Living Water, which is correct.

I'm going to drop this. I might be misunderstanding you.
Blessings.

The best of each opponent.
Sounds like a fight !

I've never done this, but I'd be willing to give it a go.
Start it.

Look at it this way. It's all Gods word that Jesus spoke as Jesus is the word of God come in the flesh. His word is alive as living water that flows through us that we might know who God is. John 1:1-14 might help you.

No need to read John 1 !
So you're saying that Jesus is the Word
The Word is alive
As alive as living water, which JESUS IS the living water.

If that's wrong, just forget about it!

IMO JESUS IS THE LIVING WATER.
Based on all those verses you posted.

:hysterical

Are you having gender problems???
Or are you just happy some days
sad some days
and mad some days?

(I hope it's no. 2 !!!)

I'm mostly happy. I love life. In my "real world" I don't care much for politics but I do like to discuss faith stuff. My men's group is going to have a discussion/Bible study on the nature of God in the Shack based on the book by Randall Rouser. I love that get together. Bibles, Buddies, Beer. ;)

This afternoon I'm heading to my school to present a program of stories, songs, and puppets to K-2nd grade. That will be fun. Life is good. Retired but have plenty that keeps me busy. And I do dishes more than ever and the wifey loves that. ;)

PZ
I read The Shack
Some don't care for it because it doesn't properly represent the Godhead.
First of all, it's not a theological thesis.
Second of all, it DID help me to understand the Trinity better.
I should read it again, but I remember that I liked it and had no problem with it.
I think you'll find the discussion interesting...

Oh, And keep washing those dishes.
Maybe I could give my hubby your email address??

Come on Kidron...

Catholics believe Jesus is God.
They believe He became a man.
They believe He died for our sins.
They believe He resurrected on the third day.
But speak of the Greek!
Check out John 6:54a. In Greek it means TO CHEW. Jesus is saying that we are to chew his flesh to have eternal life. They DO base their theology on facts - maybe facts we may not agree with, but facts nonetheless.
So they want to believe Mary was a virgin forever. What does that take away from Jesus? We have churches that make JESUS out to be Santa Claus!
You don' like transubstantiation? Fine. What does it take away from you if Catholics want to believe in it?.

---------------------------------------

I have no issues with Catholics.
I have issues with their doctrine.
It lies.
It deceives.
Its created to do this.
You probably dont know this, but according to the current Pope's theology, ....If anyone believes that "faith alone, is accepted by God as all that is required to be saved and have eternal life"......Then this person, according to the Pope, and according to Catholic Theology....is "anathema".
(Cursed of God).
So, with all the beauty, the drama, the statues, the incense, and the fact that until 1961, Catholics were told not to read their bible, but to "see a Priest for answers to bible questions"......with all this for you to adore regarding the CC......the fact that what saves a person, "Faith In Christ, alone" is....according to the Catholic Doctrine, = not true,...... and in fact a person who believes this, is "anathema" according to the Catholic CHURCH.

"""""But speak of the Greek!

That is not what it means, and "to chew", is a Catholic misconception of the word "eat".
To Eat the Flesh of Jesus, is to BELIEVE.
That's what it means.
And also, to take communion is a symbolic gesture, similar to water baptism.
Neither are literally to be understood as the redemptive agent.

"""""""So they want to believe Mary was a virgin forever. What does that take away from Jesus? """""""

It takes away from the Truth, Wondering.
It denies it.
It recreate a new one, for the benefit of deceiving so that Catholics are led into Mary worship.
And, so, the truth kinda matters when you are dealing with these issues.
You seem to feel that if the CC has many issues with doctrine, with truth, then this is acceptable because you approve with a sort of "live and let live" pov..
Well, i dont share that with you.
And i certainly dont approve of the CC creating packs of lies, that masquerade at truth designed to fool and to deceive.
This is Satanic.

""""""""You don' like transubstantiation? .""""""""

My opinion regarding transubstantiation is irrelevant.
What matters is that this concept is a farce, its a make believe deception.
And THAT is what is wrong with it.
If you feel that its ok, then thats ok with me.
However, You dont seem to feel that doctrine really matters, but what matters instead, is that we all just get along and accept lies, deceit, and phony baloney.
I understand you want to be accepting and considerate and "do unto others".......But, there is a line we must draw, regarding twisting bibles, and accepting make believe theology, = that is designed to create followers who end up dead and in hell.
I dont think that is acceptable.
Does God?
Does Christ?
Did Jesus shed his blood so that Catholics are offered water baptism instead?
Have you considered this, at all?
Also,
I think if the CC teaches you to believe that priests can magically by Hocus Pocus, recreate a cookie taken from a bag full of them into the Literal Body of Jesus, then this needs to be exposed as the dirty rotten deception that it is....and always will be.
And if Mary had children, and if one of the writers of the NT was the brother of Jesus, then ither that is true, or the CC is correct and the bible is a lie.
You can choose your preference, Wondering.
I already have.
I'll leave that to you to decide If James the writer of the Book of James is Christ's brother, or if this is not true and the CC's teaching that Mary is a "perpetual virgin", is the real deal and the bible is just kidding......
And finally, if the CC teaches and believes that Mary is the Queen of Heaven, and is able to atone for the sins of sinners just like Jesus, and you dont feel that you need to reject this and expose it, then what can i say.

Thx for the discussion.
Lets stop now.

OK K
Let's stop.
I agree with much of what you said above.
I DO NOT ACCEPT LIES. That's why I'm not Catholic anymore.
I DO believe Jesus had brothers.

My Whole point is that the CC is NOT a cult.
That's all I meant to say.

Blessings

By George, I think you got it as it's the words of God who calls us to His saving grace and by faith, which is Christ Jesus, we become Spiritually renewed/born again by hearing His words that draws us to Him and are given the promise of the Holy Spirit who indwells us at the moment we believe and confession is made, Romans 10:9.10. It's like the parable in Matthew 9:16, 17; Luke 5:36-39.

Had to give up my 4 wheeler when we moved :sad
I loved to ride... 2 minutes from our house was the open desert ...
I'm recovering from a hip replacement and hope to ride before winter comes. Don't like riding in the snow.
