Okay, take a look at Revelation 12:17 and Revelation 14:12. Is it command or Commandments?

Shure Piri. I was really just picking a little bit. Doesn't really matter if we say either one. Both is right I believe.
Because the one commandment fulfilled all the commandments of the old testament.
Love is one! And this commandment fulfilled all the commandments of the law. There are many..
God bless!

How many of us will be perfectly sanctified at the time of our deaths? I dare say most of us will be in need of further purification in order to enter the gates of heaven after we die

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Forgive us our sins

Cleanse us from all unrighteousness

If we are cleansed of all unrighteousness then we are certainly clean and pure, because His blood is pure.

We can have fellowship now with God, and be joined to Him, being one spirit with Him.

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
1 Corinthians 6:17

Hi. Link
I understand this teaching of fulfillment of the Commandments. But in reality it isn't just I know it, because it is written in my heart or it is upon Jesus on the cross. Just like you see it is about to keep it. Many Christians don't know that the Sabbath is a day. It is the 7th day of creation. And it is written what to do on this special day. Why God said to: "REMEMBER"? Do you know why? Let me know okay. Bless

Not Shure what you are referring to. To be honest..

It's too bad I was out of town for the last few days. I see people have forgotten which forum this is and what the rules are. Please address the OP's (dashboardchic19) questions and avoid debating. It is confusing enough without the added debates.

To dashboardchic19, as you have seen, even Christians can struggle with questions and have different interpretations of Scripture for we all fall short of the glory of God. But, one thing we have that you may not understand yet is the hope and/or assurance of Salvation that comes through trust and faith in Jesus Christ. For it is in Him that we can be saved and Him alone.

What does it mean to be saved? I was raised Catholic and there was never any mention of being saved. Is being saved simply accepting and believing in Jesus?
It sounds like you are referring to the colloquial expression that is common among protestants.

What they basically mean to say, is "I call myself a Christian". What that actually means to them is that when they face the final judgment by God, they will go to heaven and if Jesus comes back before they die, He will take them with Him into the new world. So because they believe that they will pass the judgment, that it is as good as done, that is why they say that they are already saved. I personally don't use that expression though except for in a context of a future event.

Having said that, there is three main ways that scripture speaks of being saved:

1. We shall not perish
There is a reality that when we begin walking in the way of sin, we become guilty according to the truth - and yet because a sinner has developed a preference to do the sin despite the conviction of the truth, they become liable for the indignation of God (Psalms 5:4-6). So just as the story of Adam and Eve tells us, our sinfulness causes us to hide from God because when a person who is gripped by sin is forced into His presence, they are not naturally inclined to repent but rather forced to confess against their will (John 3:20). In turn, they reach for deceit and blame and thereby yield their soul to the devil because the devil is the father of lies (John 8:44, 1 John 2:21, Romans 6:16, 1 John 1:5).

The concept of perishing in this sense, is all about the fact that a person who is evading the light is being pushed further and further into the devil's grip every time the truth comes near to them. Every time the truth causes them to ask or answer in a way that would force them to admit their wrongness, they need to come up with another answer that twists the truth so that they are justified by their words instead. Then they actually need to believe the lie in order to escape the conviction of their conscience! .. and so, sin leads a person further and further away from having any standing in the truth. The outcome for those people, is that they are never aware of how blind they are to their own hypocrisy, and consequently they reside on the side of spiritual blindness and darkness (1 Peter 2:9, 1 John 2:8-11).

Conversely however, there is a side of judgment whereby we walk in the light (John 3:21), having turned away from sin and having been forgiven by God's mercy (Ephesians 2:4-8, John 14:21).We are comfortable with the truth and never afraid to give an honest answer, and we can see those who are of an honest spirit compared to those who have been made blind (1 Corinthians 2:15), and it is on the side of the pure in mind that the Word of God resides (John 8:47, 1 John 2:14).

2. We shall endure
But you have faithfully followed my teaching, way of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, and sufferings that happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, and in Lystra, what sort of persecutions I endured, and the Lord delivered me from all of them. And indeed, all those who want to live in a godly manner in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. But evil people and imposters will progress to the worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you continue in the things which you have learned and are convinced of, because you know from whom you learned them, and that from childhood you have known the holy writings that are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (St. Paul, 2 Timothy 3:10-15)
There is no compromise between God and the devil: each is in the war for a total victory, and what that means is that the devil will use all manner of devices to bring people against us in their sinfulness, because they are the ones who are literally unable to love us as God loves us - they do those things because they do not belong to God and neither do they know God (John 15:18-23). But God's purpose in justice is to save (Isaiah 54:17), and it is imperative that we are found to be innocent in His eyes before our accusers (1 John 2:1-2, Revelation 12:10). It is through remaining free of sin by trusting in God through the persecutions (Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:6-7), that He is able to ultimately complete His judgment of those who do their sin against us (Psalms 92:5-9, Romans 12:1, 1 Peter 2:20-24, Hebrews 12:25-29).

3. We shall be raised up
The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. (Jesus Christ, John 6:54).
Christianity teaches that there is an awareness of the self that endures even after the body has expired. The parable of Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16:19-31 tells us that there is an impassable chasm between those who are on the side where the saints reside, and those who are cut off forever. This is the most common meaning that Christians have in mind when they talk about being saved: they believe that they will be on the side of heaven rather than hell. As I have explained already, John 3:16 speaks about the erosion of an intrinsic spiritual life that is within us (John 1:4), whereas the state of the soul in an afterlife speaks more about becoming aware of who we have become when we finally are unable to evade the judgment of God (Matthew 25:31-46, Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, John 8:21-24).

So I think it is best to speak of "being saved" as a Christian doctrine that speaks of an ongoing salvation: that we have already come out of the bondage of sin and have seen the truth of the reality of the gospel of Jesus Christ, but the day that we can finally say "yes, we have been saved" is a day when the threat of persecution and the power of death and sin have become a thing of the past (1 Corinthians 15:54, Revelation 21:3-4).

I've heard this claim more than once on here. Yet many sola scriptura perspectives are indeed man made. Your interpretation of scripture is man made.
You think you are quoting God directly every time you quote scripture?
After translations from another language. Contexts of what the culture was like in those countries 2000 years ago.
So many interpretations. 1000s of denominations. Look at all the arguing that goes on here. And that is just among sola scriptura members.
And then there is the varied Bible commentaries. Everyone is an amateur theologian. I prefer to read the professional theologians.
if i use scripture that says the exact truth word for word .its not man interpretation the term purgatory is not found in scripture. i challenged you to study out justification/ justified sanctify read 1 john 1:9 and read 1 john 1:7 study about being redeemed

Peter 1:18-20

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

I grew up Catholic also and never heard about being saved and I thought "born again" is Evangelicals.........

If I had based my opinion of Jesus on Evangelicals I would have never wanted to know Jesus. Sorry, but that is my truth.

Jesus says Ask, Seek, Knock. If you really want to know the truth and you are not lying to yourself, he will show you the truth.

Before knowing what I know now, I didn't understand why the blood is so important. Why do people talk about being saved and born again? How would Jesus be the only way to God? Why would it make sense to sacrifice innocent animals? I'll answer these as best as I can because these are questions I had.

1. The Blood - The blood is important because he literally has different blood than us. Yes, it is similar because it is his mom's side/and it is different because it is God's side

2. Being Saved - You understand the truth of the blood. Jesus was really born in the flesh, died and was raised to life....this really did happen

3. Born Again - When you comprehend that Jesus is actually (Lord) human/divine and you believe in your heart God raised him from the dead....you are given the Spirit of Truth and you are born again and given spiritual googles to where you can see spiritual truths

4. The Way - God says that the truth will be preached to the whole world and then the end will come. Everyone on earth will be given the truth of what love is. (Jesus) There will be no excuse. God is a just judge. He knows where you are born and how much exposure to the truth you have. Those who have Jesus freely available and you haven't come to him, not good. This is cause Jesus is the light of the world and if you reject the light you reject God.

5. Animal sacrifice - Like What? But it actually does make sense. Animals are sinless and their sinless sacrifice would cover our sins. In Hebrews, it explains this action in terms of a "Will". The document that is drawn up and you are given inheritance. Their sinlessness was passed on to us so that we could pass through this world into heaven. This is why the sacrifice of Jesus was PERFECT. He knew our temptations, yet did not sin. He writes believers into the "Will" that God has drawn up and we receive the same inheritance as Christ.

To me this is a simple but great CONTROVERSIAL question and topic.

For me, as an older believer, when I met the lord in 1978, the popular term of the day was "CONVERTED" or "BELIEVED".
You never heard the term "SAVED".
It just was never used.
In my recollection of my years past, it wasn't until the last 15 years or so, probably during the advent and increased popularity of the computor, that the term SAVED started being used for "CONVERSION" more and more almost universally.

And the word SAVED to me, is by far the more correct term than being converted.

As I'v gotten older, I have noticed more and more varying doctrinal beliefs of being saved.
And for me, I've decided what that means to be saved that works for me, after studying salvation as a major topic for myself, that is connected to almost every other topic in the bible.
Kind of like LOVE is a subject connected to nearly every topic in the bible - at least from my studies.

I'm not a RULE KEEPER or a LEGALIST that has a LIST I have to maintain, to stay in God's good graces.
I don't have to believe the same way as everyone else in a church to be accepted or fit in.
I don't have to believe the same way or the same things to be on a forum, or be in a men's bible study or Christian bible study class.

Over many years, I have come to the conclusion that my faith is incredibly personal, and it's only me who will stand before my JUDGE, all by myself, with no one there to support me, as I give an account for my entire life.

No matter where you go or who you talk to, there will always be a myriad of answers to this controversial question.

For me there is JUST ONE ANSWER that I can live with happily, as the foundation of my faith, that I can grow from, and what I believe is in UNITY and HARMONY with the rest of the entire bible as a whole story to all mankind from God, but I doubt it will fit in with many others beliefs.

I'll tell people what I believe and why, but I won't expect anyone else to believe what I believe, just to satisfy ME.

What we all believe is ultimately between God and ourselves.
So I hope no one comes here telling us what they believe and get really upset and feel rejected because we don't accept their theories, or come here thinking there going to set everyone straight on the way everything Christian SHOULD BE, or come here with a low self worth thinking that in their imagined wisdom, everyone will look up to them.

Seen all that many, many times in all kinds of settings, and to this day, I only saw someone who was all about themselves, with no God involved whatsoever.

God bless you all as you search for your own personal answers.
My name is OLIGOS

Yes. Nothing less.. nothing more..
No one has anything more to say on that really.

I would tho recommend that you read the new testament.
Especially at least one of the first four books.
Then the acts. And then the letters of Paul.
Maybe you have read the Bible. I don't know.
But read about Jesus so you get to know who He is and what He might help you with.
Read and understand with your heart. Not with the head.
I say this because I think that you want to be able to have a personal experience for yourself..
And find the stories to be really true..

But as I said. Believing and accepting Jesus.
Is all you need to be saved and go to heaven.
God bless you!

Here is the scripture on how to be saved.

because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation. For the Scripture says, “W hoever believes in H im [whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] will not be disappointed [in his expectations].” For there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile; for the same Lord is Lord over all [of us], and [He is] abounding in riches (blessings) for all who call on Him [in faith and prayer]. For “ whoever calls on the name of the Lord [in prayer] will be saved .”
Romans 10:9‭-‬13 AMP

if you do a survey 90% of people will most likely answer yes they are saved. but you ask have you had a born again experience it throws them off. the word saved is used frequently in the Bible as well as converted .yes the word believe many associate believe simply believing in God..
most every one does even though there not saved/converted.
times has changed Church has changed its a huge challenge for a pastor these days

Animal sacrifice - Like What?
That question arises through an intrinsic understanding of justice (Proverbs 17:15). It is a question coming naturally, that sinners cannot answer without twisting upright judgment into their favour.
He knew our temptations, yet did not sin.
That's what underpins the statement in Hebrews 10:26-27, especially verse 29. To understand why the blood of bulls and goats could never take away sins (it is because the blood of animals is a thing so common - they shed the same blood daily for food - therefore there is not enough power in the blood to invoke remorse and compel them to repent. The fact is that they believed their sin would be forgiven by shedding more blood, therefore the temple had become an industry of slaughter driven by sin. However, if the blood of Jesus Christ is unable to compel remorse for sin, then what more can be done? The one who disregards the blood of the covenant of grace is only fit for destruction (Isaiah 5:1-7).
