WHATEVER HAPPENED TO SIN

I was reading through the article and it seems that the reason sin has lost its use is because it's overly simple gramaticly. Sin is basicly going against the Devine, well, what if we want to be more specific? What if what we thought was sinful turned out to be a more complicated issue? Language evolves and becomes contextual.

Sin is simple.

Hey MD,
How could oversimplifying something be bad?
(in this case)
Well, I think it's more a trapping of the English language. So the article compares a sin (an act against God's law or commandments) either more complex issued such as sexuality, gender identity. Musunderstandings, etc

I think it's more a legalistic approach instead of applying critical thinking skills to what we can read from the Bible.

That's the problem, it over simplifies issues that might be more complex.
As every man has been given a conscience, I fail to see your point?
How can something so simple be construed as complex?
Can you supply an example?

It is sinful to reject God, a society persecuted Christians. A pastor who hides their faith from authorities is acting as if he is ashamed of God (a Sin), but he does it to keep spreading the word to people to build up a church and sway the hearts of many.

If all sin is paid by the wage of death, then the pastor is guilty no matter how many he saves or how much he can strengthen the church.

We all must mature in Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 3:1-2
Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual, but as worldly—as infants in Christ. / I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for solid food. In fact, you are still not ready,

1 Peter 2:2
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

Ephesians 4:14
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming.

1 Corinthians 14:20
Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.

Philippians 1:9-10
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, / so that you may be able to test and prove what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,

2 Timothy 3:7
who are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Colossians 1:28
We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:6
Among the mature, however, we speak a message of wisdom—but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Isaiah 28:9
Whom is He trying to teach? To whom is He explaining His message? To infants just weaned from milk? To babies removed from the breast?

Jeremiah 4:22
“For My people are fools; they have not known Me. They are foolish children, without understanding. They are skilled in doing evil, but they know not how to do good.”

Proverbs 9:6
Leave your folly behind, and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.”

Proverbs 1:4
To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young,

Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

This is an old thread, but sometimes they too need to rise from the dead :smlB

What a man calls sin is not always what God see's as sin, but yet we are without excuse for our own actions.

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

We definitely agree that pride month needs to be washed away.

that comes from the penny catechism and the answer to the question: why was I created? to know love and serve God in this life and to be happy with Him in the next.
