I have had a history of issues with my anger and yet, I have never, ever felt a desire, need, or impulse to use any dangerous tool in a harmful way against anyone.
Cops and I know because I have PTSD and they join our groups commit suicide at . Higher rates and often lie or hide their PTSD to keep their jobs

Yet we should disarm ourselves because of anger?

Hi Edward

Sighhhhh.

I think I previously agreed with you on that point. But I pointed out that what we allow people to hold in their hand at the time of their angriest moments, is why we suffer at least a quarter of the deaths that we do from firearms. Good men and women who purchased their firearm legally who just couldn't always keep it together.

The husband who has a controlling love for his wife who wants to separate and take his children out of his life.

The father whose 16 year old princess lets a boy in the house late at night.

The man just driving along who makes a lane change once without proper checking if the lane is clear. He didn't have his mirrors adjusted right and the car was in his blind spot.

Now, let me just hazard a guess at your response and solution for these people killing someone.

The woman trying to leave her husband? She should have never married the bum anyway.

The father whose daughter let a boy in the house at night. He's a bad father that he didn't train his daughter not to do such a thing.

The man making the driving error. He's too old to be driving anyway and he apparently didn't pay attention when they told him in driving classes when he was 16 to turn your head and look.

But I will question you. What is your response to these needless deaths.

Oh BTW, the angry husband murdered their 3 children when he took the wife out. The father with the daughter? Well, when the police came he was still holding the firearm and apparently didn't try to put it down fast enough and was shot to death in front of his daughter by the very people who came to render aid. The driver? Well, he's dead today. The man that killed him in his moment of fleeting anger, now after having used his legally obtained firearm, is spending a number of years in prison apart from his family.

How would you address the problem? Or do you even see it as a problem? If you do, share with me. You're an elected lawmaker. What bill are you going to propose to address this problem?

God bless,
Ted

That should be an easy one. Last I heard 90% of all murders are done by 6% of the population. Most of these are carrear criminals. So I'd stop paroling repeat offenders. So there's 94% of the population arent people with violent tendencies. Hundreds of thousands of people are walking the streets right now, armed to the teeth. I don't hear any gunfire.

You can't reasonably penalize a large segment of the population because 6% of the people are violent. It has never worked. It will never work. Criminals do not follow laws, that's why they are criminals.

Ban guns and then they'll just burn their foes with a bucks worth of gas. Or kill a cop for his guns. That's how they think.

It makes me feel good to know that there are so many guns on the street. Really. Because I know that most people are good joes and not violent criminals. So maybe they would help me if I got into a pinch? And you better not try to rob him in front of me! This is my town so he is my neighbor! We protect each other. That's how it works.

I dunno 🤷‍♂️

The criminal justice system is still claiming to rehabilitate offenders. No parole offenses vary from state to state but the trend now is towards trying to carefully determine who can be safely paroled or given probation instead of incarceration. Prison costs all kinds of money.

They don't .

Yet we should disarm ourselves because of anger?

Brother! I was married for 26 years so yeah, we had a fight or two. (She wouldn't shut up, so boom) actually never happened. You see, I still wanted dinner that night even if she was acting weird and going on and on about something I felt it a better decision all around to not be a mass murderer that night and go watch some TV instead. Eventually she calmed down and I did get my dinner. (She is a great cook!). And there was no need for taxpayer funded police involvement, and no need to name a new park or anything like that.

My kids used to have some real knock down drag out fights! Never once did they shoot at each other or even make a threat.

I've never had a problem controlling my anger. Those who have no self control will face the consequences instead of eating dinner. (I'd rather have dinner)

Scripture tells us what to do! Don't shoot her. You go upstairs and quietly open a window, then you crawl out onto the roof of the overhang, and quietly close the window back again. Stay on the roof until she calms down!

I have a concealed handgun carry permit and have thwarted two attempted home invasions. On the second occasion, I fired two shots in the ground, one for each robber, as they laid on the ground. I decided to let them go and and only fired to increase their departure speed. My wife also thwarted one other attempt.

When it comes to thieves im more of a prankster. I never wish harm on anyone only tesch a lesson, and I want to have fun with it. Like last year got robbed stole my nephews bike from in the gate and I knew they be back so I wanted to get the other bike from inside, flash as brand new and leave it in full view and tie a string to it and attach it to a air horn so when they try take it a really loud air horn would go off. Lol. But too much effort so I just tried stay awake all night, made it till like 3am then fell asleep and woke up at 6am and the Muppets come back , im just a bad security guard. Lol. I was close to catching them out.

I wouldn't have done anything just told them not to take peoples private property and asked for the other bike back and probably would have dropped them home.

Always have to watch out for home thieves. They sneaky. They give away signs as well. If your property has been entered but nothing has been taken that coukd be, that's a possible sign the just scoping and be back for the haul, or if only a couple things yet there was much more that could have, possile sign they coming back. And the next one is if you place has been marked, hard to see sometimes but goons will scope and the. place a mark on your property, even like a crayon mark or a spray can so they know what houses to hit. Always be vigilant.

Runs rampant where I live. Scopers. They get busted all the time the worms but cant do anything, they just say they looking for John or Peter or something looking dodgy as anything. Lol.

NEWSFLASH EVERYONE. WE AREN'T ALL THE SAME IN OUR THOUGHTS AND DESIRES. WE AREN'T ALL THE SAME IN HOW WE CHOOSE TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS. AND YOU CAN'T LEGISLATE THAT KIND OF THING WITH ANY SURE DEGREE OF SUCCESS. OTHERWISE THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY DRUGS IN AMERICA!!!!!!!!
Exactly! So why do you put everyone into your same box? There are only a few that use firearms to kill others and yet you would deny the right to everyone to own, purchase, or use firearms when the vast majority of us use them respectfully and with care.

It’s looking a lot like more people with more guns equals more gun related violence and fatalities. Why shouldn’t the government regulate guns?

1. With a firearm, I don't even have to be within 300 feet of the person that I'm intending to kill. With a knife, machete, sword, pillow, scarf, rope, pen or pencil, I have to be within reasonable arms length.
Maybe there has been a situation like this that I'm not aware of, but I would be really surprised to learn of a mass shooting where the assailant was even close to 100 yards away. In most, and if my understanding is correct, I think in all cases of mass shootings, the assailants were much closer. In fact, in most of them, if not all, they were in the same room and within just a few feet.
2. With a firearm, I can kill people at a rate of up to 30-40 people a minute if my aim is good. With a knife, machete, sword, pillow, scarf, rope, pen or pencil, I'll be quite lucky if I can put down 3 people within 20 minutes.
Even though the assailants might have had the capacity to fire 30, 40, or 100 rounds or more, in no case were there 30 or 40 people killed or even hurt even when there were possibly that many in the room. In fact, it was determined that the Columbine shooters fired off about 188 rounds of ammunition, killing 12 and wounding 21 in about 20 minutes. They missed more than they hit. I'm not downplaying what happened but as you can see, hitting what one is shooting at, even when there is nobody shooting back, is not as easy as one might think.

The common laugh we get at hunting camp is when we hear someone in the distance emptying his/her clip in rapid fire at what probably was a deer. Without even being there, we are about 99.9% certain that deer got away unscathed.

I grew up hunting and target shooting. The first time I shot a rifle, I was about seven or eight years old and my dad helped me hold it. I bought my first and only handgun when I was about 45 years old. I don't know how many boxes of ammo I shot through that thing before I was able to actually hit a dinner plate sized target from 30 yards away. It's not as easy as it looks and I'm using a 7.5" barrel. It gets worse with shorter barrels. It would be extremely rare to put a rifle or handgun in someone's hands and expect them to be able to hit anything with any level of accuracy from the get-go. Possible, yeah I suppose, but really rare.

I guess I made a poor argument with regard to the number of hurt people at Columbine. Failed to look at the math. Of course, they fired far (almost 5x as many) more than 30 or 40 rounds to do it.

Most cops engage their targets in less than 20 ft.

Our ccl type pistols are not gonna hit a target farther then that. The one I have I would trust the accuracy of it past 20 ft. It's just too small for me .the stability I need requires a sand bag support.

Hi WIP

where the assailant was even close to 100 yards away.
I'd say then that you are not up to date on many of the mass killings. And it doesn't matter if it's 100yds or 25yds, you have to have a gun to hurt someone that far away. But really, do you have any idea how many yards it was from that man on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay was from the 58 people that he killed?

Just for effect, here's a picture of the hotel:

Now the shooter was on the 32nd floor. Now, I'm not an engineer, but I am aware that most high rise buildings have about 10-12' between floors. It depends on how much dead space is above the ceiling. So, just from the 32nd floor to the ground is likely over 100 yards, let alone that the victims were off in some area quite a ways from the building.

If you want more measurements from shooter to victim, I could look them up for you. Or you could educate yourself and do it yourself.

God bless,
Ted

Hi again WIP
Exactly! So why do you put everyone into your same box?
Because I believe, as I also believe God does, that human life has value that the rest of us should be willing to make certain sacrifices to protect. Yes, if I ruled in America, there would not be any private ownership of anything but verified normal hunting firearms. Single shot rifles and shotguns.

So, back up your yell there just a bit. I'm not against personal ownership of firearms. I'm against the personal ownership of firearms for which there really isn't any purpose except to use against other people.

God bless,
Ted

BTW, just for laughs, my son came up with a rather good idea that would still allow those who just can't seem to live without them, to still enjoy them.

You may buy a firearm of any kind, but it must be stored at a licensed gun store. At the gun store you can then check out your gun, the one that makes you happy and causes your sexual energies to become heightened, and go to a firing range and have all the fun that you want. But at night, the firearm must be returned and checked in and the bullets accounted for.

For those who just want to have fun playing with any gun, then they could also go to the same gun shop which, much like a bowling alley, would also have just general purpose firearms of all types that you can rent, sign out, and go shooting for the day. But it has to be returned at night to the shop and checked back in. Now, if someone wants to go for a three or four day long hunting trip, then they can sign out weapons that are designed for hunting, i.e., no AK47's or M16's or other high powered long range firearms. Those can only be checked out for an extended period of time for which the user has to give an end date that he expects to return the weapon.

So, everyone has the freedom to go have fun with whatever type of firearm makes their little man flutter, but they are not kept at home and private owners cannot buy rounds of projectiles, except for the purpose of practice shooting. At the end of that you account for all the shells/rounds you used, and return everything to the gun shop.

However, if someone fails to return their weapon on the specified time or date, then law enforcement is notified that a gun is on the loose and they make attempts to locate it and check out 'why'.

Now this idea will work, but of course, our nation is filled with people of great fear and so it isn't likely to be adopted.

God bless,
Ted
