What is unknown to us has no application to the mind of this Jesus who is the Christ.
A comparison of what we don't know , compared to Christ who knows all things is illogical from a Christian viewpoint .

This is pretty fun CL.
You can't answer a simple question.

Here, I'll answer it for you.
We refer to an unborn baby as HE.
This is because HE is not an it, and we don't know if it's a boy or a girl.

Maybe you knew where I was going with this.
The point is that because Jesus referred to His Father as Father is because from the beginning mankind did not know the gender of God...the Indians called Him THE GREAT SPIRIT.

God IS SPIRIT, so we worship Him in spirit and truth.

We HAVE a spirit,
but we are not spirits.
We are humans.

Jesus was addressing the lack of knowledge in the disciples regarding the resurrected body which inherently has both Spirit and supernatural physical properties.
The same lack of knowledge that you demonstrate now.
In your zeal to point out the fact that Jesus was only flesh & bone after He rose, you neglect to mention that
He states this only moments after appearing to them as they were hiding for fear in a room with a closed door:

John 20:19

"Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you."

How does a "flesh & Bone" Jesus who has no spiritual capabilities suddenly appear & disappear inside a locked room to the disciples ?

In light of His materializing out of thin air inside a closed room just before He explains that He is not just a spirit , it is stunning to me that you really don't grasp what Jesus was unpacking here for the disciples.

Jesus had His glorified body.
No one understands what this glorified body will be like.
We can only know what we know, and that is not everything.

I think the other poster does grasp what was being unpacked.
Jesus appeared suddenly and left suddenly.
He also had scars and ate.
We don't really know much of anything else.

I have no idea what you are talking about here .
Any time I have ever referred to a coming newborn where I had not already been told the sex, I just say " The baby" .
As in " I'm sure the baby will be as smart as you "
Or, " I'll bet the baby will have pretty brown eyes like you"

Why would you ever say "he" or "she" if you don't have a clue ?
That's just bizarre .

The "poster" cites Jesus saying he is flesh and bone, as proof that spirit's have no physical form.
Read for your self the proof the poster cites that God the Spirit cannot take on physical form.
I never knew there was something to difficult for God, but apparently this poster thinks he has found it .

Luke 24:39 is speaking about Jesus.
God Father is referred to as spirit.
Jesus had a glorified body.
This is really all I can say.
We'll find out when we get there.

We know Adam was first.
So the Almighty consensus in heaven was that the fist image off the production line would be a masculine one .

Is this for me?
We are made in God's image but for other factors and attributes,
not for how we look.

What does it mean to be made in God’s image? It’s one of those concepts that’s too big to fully understand, but here’s some of what it means:

  • Like God, you are a spiritual being. Your spirit is immortal and will outlast your earthly body.
  • You are intellectual. You can think, reason, and solve problems.
  • You are relational. You can give and receive real love.
  • You have a moral consciousness. You can discern right from wrong, which makes you accountable to God.

I don't know who Rick Warren is, but this is what it means to be made in the image of God.
He has a family, We have a family.
God creates, We can be creative.
God needs us, We need friends.
etc.
 
If it is just a case of six of one, or a half dozen of the other, why do you think a man was decided upon first for the likeness & image ?
Certainly God knowing that it really made no difference whether a man or woman was first , just flipped a coin and the man got lucky ?
God has always had purpose in His decisions as far as I am concerned .

You'd have a point if Jesus were merely a man. But He is wholly man and wholly God. So you're pretty much left here, arguing that God can't do miracles.

Indeed, he tells them that he's not a spirit, since spirits have no bodies. And he showed them that He does. Given that the whole point of His discussion with them was that He was not merely a spirit, but a man with bones and the wounds of crucifixion, it's stunning to me that you really don't grasp what Jesus was unpacking here for the disciples.

Exactly why Jesus refers to Him in the form He choose to be , a Father .

The form of God's right hand was immediately recognized by Stephen.

You think God cannot assume the form of a burning bush, a column of fire, or a man, if it suits His purposes?

That God assumes these forms is not a limitation on Him in any way.

In Genesis 32:22-32 Jacob wrestles with God, who being unable to beat him, cheats by causing him to be weak in his hip. Do you honestly think that Jacob was capable of wrestling God to a draw?

Now you know that that the Spirit of God can assume any form He desires .
Don't understand why you did not recognize that a long time ago, but better late than never .

I just told you that He can. I don't think I'm the only person who pointed this out to you; you seemed to not realize this. If you do accept this now, then you've also likely realized that God has no body, and no gender.

That God assumes these forms is not a limitation on Him in any way.
