Jesus said the kingdom of God is within you. And Paul said you are the temple and God dwells within you.
So, according to Christianities most trusted source , going to a church builing has nothing to do with fellowship with God. It's just believers who like to have fellowship with one another and sing and pray together that is also a teaching. No one needs to go to church to be saved or have fellowship with God.
I don't think anyone has suggested that one must be a regular church goer to be saved. What I'm hearing when people emphasize that it is not required what immediately comes to my mind is that maybe the emphasis is placed there in order to justify our own guilt for not taking an active part in the Holy Church of Jesus. We are essentially saying to ourselves, "Jesus can save me even if I don't regularly meet with His people so that's good enough."
Amen!It may seem as though I may have been contradicting myself. In another thread on this topic I basically made a statement that a church can be anywhere from an official church building to a fish house and then I expressed the importance of gathering together regularly with a Christian congregation.
I think the point I have been trying to make is that we need to wrap our head around what it means to be part of the Christian body of believers or Body of Christ. It is too easy to allow ourselves to become complacent and find ourselves just attending a service once a week. And then not for the purpose of heart-felt fellowship, worship, and prayer with other Christian believers, but instead, fulfilling a perceived obligation to satisfy our own feelings of guilt or perhaps for getting our ego or self-esteem stroked.
It is extremely important to be part of a community of Christian believers, to gather regularly, and take it seriously. Jesus often used the analogy of sheep and at one point in Matthew it says Jesus saw the multitudes and was moved with compassion for them because they were weary and scattered like sheep having no shepherd (Matthew 9).
That’s what can happen when we try to go it alone. We can easily go astray and become lost much like the story of a man with a hundred sheep (Matthew 18). We come up with all kinds of excuses like "I can’t find a church that teaches Biblical teaching" or "it’s too far away" or "it’s too early in the morning" or "it's too inconvenient"….
Find a congregation of believers and be an active part of the Christian family and get involved. A church body can be as vibrant or as dead as the people make it. If we think that just attending a 1-hour service once a week and then doing our own thing for the rest of the week is enough, we are sadly mistaken. Good congregations are active with regular Bible study, prayer, community outreach, and so on. Jesus said, We will be known by our fruits.
If we put our focus and emphasis on proving another wrong and proving we are right, then the division is always present.never in my life have a seen a subject create such division as going to church.. i have read every type excuse and some new ones on why people dont go to church.from boring to false doctrine etc.. acts 5:42 And daily in the temple and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. -a building save space i move to acts 11
19 Now those who had been scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose on account of Stephen, traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, preaching the Word to none but unto the Jews only.
20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke unto the Greeks, preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned unto the Lord.
22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem, and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
23 And when he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad and exhorted them all that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord,
24 for he was a good man and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith. And many people were added unto the Lord.
25 Then Barnabas departed to Tarsus to seek out Saul;
26 and when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass that for a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught many people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 And one of them named Agabus stood up, and signified by the Spirit that there would be a great dearth throughout all the world, which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren who dwelt in Judea.
30 This also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
going to church is important in fact the real problem is US .we simply go nod a agreement with the preacher /maybe amen..get nothing out of Church attendance
Matthew 13:55-58 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary and his brethren James and Joseph, and Simon and Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? From whence then hath this man all these things?”
57 And they were offended at Him. But Jesus said unto them, “A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country and in his own house.”
58 And He did not many mighty works there, because of their unbelief. ( they was not interested } there lies the problem simply not interested we want a social center instead of a worship center . guess i stirred enough up :amen
who is trying to prove anything ..for some reason in this forum using attending church is like saying a cuss word in front of our mom.. facts are probably %80 of all conversions takes place in a church building .microwave generation 2 mins alter done..If we put our focus and emphasis on proving another wrong and proving we are right, then the division is always present.

are you ? i dont have to prove nothing the day of Pentecost they was assembled And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. the Bible speaks for it self ..if my 2 cents on this is not welcome fell free to delete itAre you trying to prove something?
Lol, chill. Its all good. You had mentioned division... I simply stated my observation.are you ? i dont have to prove nothing the day of Pentecost they was assembled And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. the Bible speaks for it self ..if my 2 cents on this is not welcome fell free to delete it
Im innocent I tell you, innocent!Let's just get this straight out in the open here. Like it or not we're ALL guilty of trying to prove something from time to time. I even straight out admitted that I did and felt ashamed of myself for doing so.
Im innocent I tell you, innocent!
Lol, that's from some movie. I don't remember which one, but it was funny.
Except for the guilt part that's pretty much correct. I think our biggest differences lie where it says on your profile that you are a Lutheran and I am a Methodist and Methodists for the most part aren't church crazy. The way my church is is that they love seeing you when you're there, but nobody makes a big fuss over it when you're not and nobody questions it.
