    Winning People Over

Speaking for myself, no... I don't choose to ignore or reject "inconvenient old testament texts". I don't ignore or reject any part of Scripture. Now, I don't believe the Old Testament law is enforced now because I do believe that Jesus fulfilled the Law with His death and we now have a New...

    Women in the Pulpit

If we look at the whole context of 1 Timothy, not just this section of chapter 2, Paul is speaking of teaching and authority within the context of the church. Chapter 1 deals with the fact that there were many false teachers and ... if not false teachers, then just kind of ignorant teachers...

    Women in the Pulpit

I've always believed that a church should have a group of elders who shepherd the sheep... the pastor being one of them, but, just one. That's one thing I've always thought the Orthodox Presbyterian Church had right.

    Women in the Pulpit

Yes, or at least if the woman pastor herself doesn't have issues, the church she pastors in most likely does. This is an area of legitimate debate among Christians. There are plenty of texts that show women in authoritative positions that seem to balance out what Paul said about women not...

I would say that if someone doesn't trust the writings of Peter and Paul as found in the Scriptures, they automatically fall into this category.

    Favorite Bible Verse

One of my favorite verses... this has brought me though many trials and tribulations and dark times... Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

    Why so many religions?

As far as God coming up with another plan because that pesky Satan messed with His original one... No, I don't see Him doing that... His plan was set before the foundation of this world... goes without saying that whatever Satan came up with as a means to try to mess with it was taken into...

    custody

Missmoore, It's very possible that your parents are acting out of insecurity... As of now, they view your daughter as their own and apparently she views them as her mother and father. This is a very real relationship that they share. You represent a threat to this... and they seem to be...

    hi people got a question

Hi Llama, welcome to the forum. If you love God, the chance that you have committed the unforgivable sin is pretty much nil... The unforgivable sin comes when one is fully aware that God is acting and then attributing those actions to Satan or otherwise trying to convinces others that God is...

    DADD

The topic of this thread is whether or not arranged marriages might be more successful than marriages based upon love and how much should a parent be involved in the selection of a mate for their children. The topic is not meant to promote fornication or adultery or any other practice that is...

    Why so many religions?

That's exactly what I was suggesting... and I believe the devil is quite clever. Of course, Satan has the advantage of being a spirit which puts him in a different dimension than us. But, the demons most certainly believe in Christ. Perhaps there wasn't a clear cut understanding, but all...

    Why so many religions?

Hi Aardverk, good to see you again! I don't think it's so much a matter of God choosing to emulate... I think it's far more a matter of Satan being fairly well aware of what God's plan for redemption was... and throwing many copies out there in order to obfuscate the plan as much as possible.

    custody

As Danus said, this is a legal issue and you very well might need an attorney... However, there are a few questions that pop up... It's pretty rare, at lease here in America, for a good mother to lose custody of her child unless she herself gives the child up. Why were your parents given...

"He has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever"

I stand in full agreement with this... there is no part of "love" that would allow a man to beat the mother of his children. This is a very sick and twisted environment for the children... especially when we consider the fact that our earthly father is to be a role model for our heavenly Father...

"He has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever"

Thank you Brother Mike... Yes, the context of the text really does preclude it from being applied to this situation. In my previous response, I was responding more to the idea that it would be unforgivable for a person to abandon their family...which it's not. As far as this particular text...
