The government shut down businesses in general for COVID, including churches. If the government had allowed churches to remain open while shutting down other businesses, it would be favoring religion and thus violating the first amendment.

I already addressed the definition of religious. It is multifaceted. Everyone has something they want to share, put into motion wholeheartedly on a regular basis- religiously. Religion according to definition is daily practice of one's beliefs. Since we are all thinking, breathing adults, we put into practice our beliefs everyday. We ALL want to convince others of those beliefs whether it is to honor an organization, self , God / gods. If they serve self ( no god but Ceasar), an organization - political , church , secret society, an agenda of any sort-daily practice and promotion of, is done religiously.
