‘On the Sabbath day, make an offering of two lambs a year old without defect, together with its drink offering and a grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil. This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering. Numbers 28:10

I have yet to see any Sabbatarian make "an offering of two lambs" on the Sabbath.. If you are going to keep the Sabbath, then are you not required to keep ALL God's holy laws. You Sabbatarians want to enforce the Sabbath law but pick and choose how to keep the Sabbath.

Once again...

Exodus 16:29 Bear in mind that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Everyone is to stay where he is on the seventh day; no one is to go out.

I have seen Adventist travel long distances to go to state parks, camp meetings, visiting relation and friends on Sabbath. And not to exclude the 100 mile round trip to Niles or Berien Springs every sabbath to church, for over 19 years.

Show me a modern day, North American Jew that does the same thing on the Sabbath, servant....Why is that? Perhaps you should ask a Jewish friend why strict Sabbath observance isn't even practiced by Jews...perhaps custom of the day plays a part?

Also, keep in mind that Christ came to do away with many ritualistic, legalistic observances of the Sabbath. That is why he was accused of Sabbath breaking...the Jews had forgotten who the Sabbath was about and tried to control it with their rules and regulations. christ came to show that the Sabbath was about joy, a delight and helping people both physically and spiritually, not about how far you could travel on the Sabbath and whether you could carry your snot rag a certain distance.

That is legalism...If that is how you feel the Sabbath should be observed you are just like the Pharisees. No wonder you want to do away with it so badly...

You want a list of legalism...

If I am to observe the Sabbath...in which I somewhat do. I do it as God has said it...REMAIN IN YOUR PLACE...Exodus 16:29.

Here is a list of list of EGW and SDA denominational guidelines on how to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. Now this is a real taste of legalism ????

1. Having baths and shoes polished before the Sabbath.
2. Not cooking on the Sabbath. Having food prepared the day before.
3. Not eating out in restaurants on the Sabbath.
4. Not letting children play on the Sabbath. Have Sabbath (Bible) games for children.
5. Only talking on spiritual things on the Sabbath.
6. Not watching TV on the Sabbath.
7. Not reading the newspaper on Sabbath.
8. Not buying gas or shopping on Sabbath unless it is an emergency such as medicine.
9. Only thinking and talking on spiritual matters on the Sabbath.
10. VCR: This is a good one. I remember the church telling it's members that they should not program their VCR before the Sabbath to record on the Sabbath as this would be breaking the Sabbath.
11. Have a Sunset Table, so that you can be sure when the sunsets and the Sabbath begins and ends as to not break the Sabbath.

Non-optional you so called "Sabbath keepers"...Everyone is to stay where he is on the seventh day; no one is to go out.†If you had studied your Bible you would know what God requires of you, to remain in your place on a day you CLAIM you keep.

Your just like EGW calling God's Sabbath laws "senseless restrictions."

1. Lighting a fire in your home on the Sabbath is forbidden. Ex 35:2 - Ex 35:3 (NIV) 2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death. 3 Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.â€Â

EGW contradicts God! God commanded the Jews not to light a fire in their dwellings on the Sabbath day. EGW accuses the Jews of perverting the Sabbath, making it a yoke of bondage and calls God's law "senseless restrictions". Then EGW proclaims the scribes and Pharisees of making the Sabbath "an intolerable burden" because the Jews were not allowed to "kindle a fire or light a candle on the Sabbath." It was God that commanded not lighting a fire on the Sabbath, not the scribes and Pharisees. Poor Ellen, she just could not get it right. This shows she is a false prophetess. Poor SDA's who follow her falseness.

Just as it is God who commands you TO REMAIN IN YOUR PLACE. Not the Jews, not the Pharisees..but God Himself. See Exodus 16:29-30.

Yes, and we see how the most strictest group of the time, the Pharisees, observed the whole 'remain in your home' rule, didn't they? Jesus who observed the Sabbath and the disciples who didn't know any better but believed the rules of their day as imposed by the priests all were out wandering about on the Sabbath must have overlooked that one command, didn't they?

Perhaps that tells you that your interpretation is wrong or you are missing the issue of culture and context.

As I pointed out before, the issue was going out to pick manna on the Sabbath. God told them that He would provide a double measure on Friday so they were to remain in their homes and not go out and pick it.

But legalism is so much better when you can impose it on others...

God also commanded the Jews to sacrifice animals and stone adulterers and Sabbath breakers. Are we to do that too? Where in the NT do we see Christ continuing such legalistic measures?

Perhaps there was a time and a place for God to put such restrictions on His people. Legalism applies that as a blanket for all times and cultures.
The Jews did take those commands and apply them to death and added a heck of alot more! They missed the 'spirit' of Sabbath keeping and importance of the Sabbath.

As for the SDA guidelines, the one where it says 'shoes should be polished' tells you when it was most likely written. The rules of religion usually reflect the standards of the time. If you look in other areas of older SDA writings, you will most likely find council to not go to swimming pools due to the 'nakedness' of the outfits. Early SDA ism was nothing more than early Methodism which did have strict rules of conduct and dress...again, kind of like the time these people were living in.

But according to you, a church shouldn't grow or change but stick with the rules of 100 years ago...

There is no set guidlines for Sabbath keeping and some people have many, many more rules, while others use guiding principles. i'm sure this is not just an SDA thing but a Sabbatarian thing...remember that there are many more Sabbatarian groups then just the SDA church, servant.

However, that seems to be the favorite whipping boy of a few on this forum who are hell bent on 'exposing' the heresies.

servant, you are a legalist who doesn't use common sense or logic when interpreting things. Don't try and impose you legalistic tendencies on the SDA church. We have enough legalism to battle (like all other churches) without having to add more.

Had you studied the life of Jesus Christ, you'd have realized the Christ attended Sabbath worship services.

And the Bible tells us that He came to 'magnify the Law and make it honorable', (Isaiah 42:21).

So far as I can tell, you have accepted satan's suggestions on the sabbath issue...... Revelation 12:17 "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make [WAR] with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ".

Isn't the Sabbath from sun down friday to sun down saturday?

What can and can't you do on the Sabbath JayT? And is it allowed for you to use your computer?

Hi Judy, long time, no hear (ha, ha).
Yep ! Sabbath is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.

As for what one can do and shouldn't do on the sabbath, the life of Jesus Christ (which is our example) is the model to follow.

visiting hosipals, nursing homes is a good thing to do, as it is ministering, to the sick and elderly.

Sabbath activities also includes Bible studies with friends and relatives.

I use the sabbath as a chance to catch up on all my visiting to many...Christians forums, which during the week I find hardly the time to do.

Jesus went into meeting places on the sabbath, to read scripture to others, so I do the same only on a computer visiting differnet Christian forums.

During warm months of summer, I take nature walks on the sabbath too.
Which is good for the children, as lessons of God's created nature, can be learned from observing.

Never forget that God bids us call the sabbath a 'delight', (Isaiah 58:13,14).
He has also promised a blessing, to those...who keep His Holy day, (Isaiah 56:2).

It satan's plan to suggest to us that the sabbath is a burden, as a yoke of bondage.
Why ?
Because he is at 'WAR' with God's commandments, and those people who love God enough to keep them (Revelation 12:17).

Satan understands that if he can get people to break just one, of God's commandments,,,,they will be lost !

Sputnik: Strange. No offense, Judy, but the very ones who accuse SDAs of legalism are the very ones who REQUIRE legalism from SDAs. There is no such thing as 'not being allowed' to do this or that. Keeping the Sabbath is an individual thing and no one is bound by rules and regulations. The Sabbath is to be a delight, remember?

****
Very good understanding for where one is 'spiritually' at in maturity.
Christ came to 'Magnify the law and make it honorable'. Isaiah 42:21.
It surely needed to be done, huh? And this verse deals with the WHOLE of the Moral code, Covenant! (remember, nothing much was said by Christ about Moses law)

Sabbath: The Sabbath does tell one what is their individual 'spiritual desire' if one truly Loves Christ! See 2 Corinthians 3:3 in the King James. Epistle means Christ Letter to us. There are two ways to know Truth. Isaiah 8:20 tells how! And the Sabbath is in-bodied in both of these tests. First is Christs Law & then comes His reason for coming, to straighten it out! Magnify it.

OK: When one has been Born Again. He now, & ONLY now, LOVES CHRIST. (other/wise, who needs Christ??) Even the 'some' love that the sinner has not lost because of sin, still is from the creator. But this is not good enough, ALL still are required to return to the first creation love for Christ & His Salvation. John 3:3! See Hebrews 10:15-16, Hebrews 6:1-5, & Hebrews 8:10 + 2 Corinthians 3:3 again.

So here we see in Hebrews 3:6-19 a required history repeat testing to close out history. (If we believe the Word of God in Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 & Ecclesiastes 3:15, and the 666 testing that separates all the professed saved, just before they are to enter their Land of Canaan?)

The chapter to study for this is Exodus 16:4-5 & Exodus 16:23-28, and Exodus 16:35's borders of their Canaan. (most are still looking for this, I believe?) Anyhow, if one will read this, perhaps they will see that the food was prepared or gathered on the preparation day before the Lords Sabbath days need? And that was given by God Himself, yet it was their 'work' to have it collected the day before. But reread verse 28 again! Exodus 16:28. "And the Lord said, How long REFUSE YE to keep My Commandments, and My Laws." Here is clearly seen that the 7th Day Sabbath was the ONLY test given for the Breaking of the Godhead's TOTAL COMPLETE COVENANT!! See James 2:8-12.

That answers food duties for the Born Again ones. Now for the last day increased knowledge of Hosea 4:6's computer 'work'?? Pluss, much, much more!!
In Isaiah 58:12-14 we surely see the Born Again ones of John
3:3!
"... call the Sabbath a DELIGHT, the HOLY OF THE LORD, HONORABLE;..."

Let me stop there for a question or two? On these forums we see the Eternal Covenant by some, called a jail, pluss, much much more??? (you name it) Yet, notice the Word of God saying that it is to be a DELIGHT! How can this be?? Only by having the carnal heart BORN AGAIN! For a carnal heart & mind, the law of God is BONDAGE.

But before we continue on with the chapter, be sure that you notice that it says, "And they that shall be of thee shall build the 'old wast places:' thou shalt [raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, THE REPAIRER OF THE BREACH, THE RESTORER OF THE PATHS TO DWELL IN]... (Read Daniel 7:25again! and then enter Revelation 12:17)

... [IF] thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath , [from doing thy pleasure on my Holy Day;] ... (Break before continuing on for the original question! :fadein: There is bad 'pride'! God hates a proud look! Yet, there is a spiritual Godly PRIDE that God does not hate. You dress well for who, when one goes to meet with God at church? If it is for self alone? it is hated by God, if it is a Godly pride, looking well for His sake, (which includes Godly self) then it is 'maturely' required!

A Restorer of Paths to dwell in?? Surely, God wants His Born Again EPISTLE OF CHRIST children to use HIS last day increased Knowledge for reaching the world about this devil's breach of His Eternal Covenant Day for Worship!! See Revelation 1:10's Work of God to John!

Now: Is the Sabbath that God Blessed & Set Aside for Holy USE doing my own pleasure or as God says.. ".. and call the Sabbath a DELIGHT, the Holy of the Lord, HONORABLE;.." (hold it again, before going on! Let me tell you, that the Lord's Work is the Story of my Born again Life! And if any more Last Day Knowledge comes into my possession, take a guess of what I will do on my Lord;s Sabbath Day!)

... If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing [thy own PLEASURE] on [MY HOLY DAY;] and call the Sabbath a DELIGHT, the HOLY OF THE LORD, HONORABLE; and shalt HONOUR HIM, [NOT DOING THY OWN WAYS, NOR THINE OWN PLEASURE, NOR SPEAKING THINE OWN WORDS, THEN SHALT THOU DELIGHT THYSELF [IN THE LORD]..." (compare Romans 8:1)
And own pleasure?? our own pleasure aside from God requirements are not Sabbath Duties! Ball games! T.V. for entertainment, or everyday shop talk. We are to devote our time with God, by doing His 'spiritual' duties. And these duties are to be LOVING ONES!

If one is Born Again, they can readily see what Christ did when He came to earth to MAGNIFY THE LAW OF GOD AND TO MAKE IT HONORABLE!! When tithe paying was a issue? He said that they were hyprocrites, they paid tithe, which they OUGHT TO HAVE DONE, yet omitted the WEIGHTIER matters of the [LAW]. Matthew 23:23-24.

He and the Sabbath 'spiritual' workers were walking through a corn field, and they ate enough for their need. They did not steal, nor did they take a basket along for the next day! Again read Matthew 23:24!!

And healing the sick? (On the Sabbath Day) It seems silly for me to even mention this?? And leave the ox stuck in the ditch? Sure would seem like a Christ/like thing to do, huh? And to think that with the Word of God as we have it today to study & read, HE STILL NEEDS TO MAGNIFY THE LAW AND MAKE IT HONORABLE!!?? (and I am not talking about the ones that do not know Christ, or the ones who are sincerely ignorant, but the ones who say that they know Christ?? See Luke 12:47-48)

Perhaps Christ needs even more Sabbath Day computer 'workers'! See Revelation 3:16-17

Whatever??? ---John

---John

When I stand before God in on the final Judgement day I can say that I know that Christ stated in Matthew 24:20-21 that there never would be a day so terrible as this future day, and that He was long gone from earth at this last time of trouble & was now our heavenly High Priest, and that I was still to pray that my flight was not to be on His Sabbath day.

Then we can read the earthly record books accurately recorded in heaven of all of [our postings] to see if Christ was right or if it was our reasoning that was found wrong in saying that if ye love me keep my commandments?

One also wonders that our understanding is even needed, huh? when we are told that the Holy Spirit would bring back to our remembrance all things whatsoever Christ has said unto us! John 14:26.

It seems that the writer of the last book of the Masters Word surely would have corrected some 'inspiration' that he penned out if it was in error way past the exit of the physical Christ. Such as 1 John 2:4 & 1 John 3:4 & James 2:8-12 & Revelation 11:19 & Revelation 22:10!!

But the record books will let us know who loved Christ & who it was that did not, for He states another Truth in Luke 16:31 that ".. if they will not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." And that is exactly what He did, huh? Matthew 4:4 & 2 Timothy 3:16, even these old testament prophets??? :fadein:

So the bottom line will find this thread's posts with one of the two class of commandment breakers (Sabbath) eternally lost and their name removed from the book of life for the reason given in Revelation 22:18-19 of either adding to or removing from Gods Word! (compare Ecclesiastes 3:14) It cannot be that both are correct, it is one way or the other. Either you or I are guilty! Revelation 18:4 is our last free choice to be LED of the Holy Spirit. Romand 8:14.

"I know that, whatsoever God doeth, (sayeth) it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it.." Eccl. 3:14
