Always Spirit-Filled Or A Leaky Vessel?

Some may notice that the title of this thread is a question. If any attempt to answer the always part of the title, an onslaught of scripture verses seem to start.

Always is a word.
But
Sometimes people change:
Their belief changes.
Their behavior changes.
They may be born again.
They may fall away.

Restoration is sometimes possible:
If a new age has not started.

Advancement may be possible:
If it agrees with scripture.

Discussion can help. Public discussion sometimes puts us on a mode we seem not able to control. I wonder where this thread is?

Jews sinned, but not all Jews were apostate. Some Jews grieved over the sins of Israel ( Ezekiel ).

Some charismatic assemblies may have error. Does the individual sin of some negate all the true spiritual gifts? Here the ( always ) word appears, do we throw all spiritual gifts out because some are not used correctly? Do we not need the spirit gift of discernment to identify good from evil?

Always?

John 4:1When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
John 4:1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
John 4:2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

The Pharisees only heard, but seems they never witnessed Christ baptizing anyone in water. I take vs. 2 to mean only His disciples baptized others in water.
The Bridegroom will be coming soon; and those saved believers left behind will die, but their spirits will be with the Lord in Heaven awaiting for their resurrection after the great tribulation to be vessels unto dishonor in His House for not being ready for hey were found in unrepentant iniquity. Matthew 25:1-13
Not sure what you mean by "those believers left behind" as when Christ returns on the last day He will send His angels out to the four corners of the world to gather His own as we who are still alive at that time will be joined with those who are raised from the grave that are His own and will then be with the Lord forever, Matthew 24:29-31; John 5:25-29; John 6:40; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Rev 19:6-21.

The parable about the ten virgins is about those who have prepared themselves to be the Bride of Christ before the door of God's salvation is closed forever when Christ returns on the last day, Rev 19:7. The oil represents the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Mat 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

It is obvious that you do not want to take pause and test the spirits. You want to be out to the market getting filled with oil still when the Bridegroom comes, so be it. I tried to warn you about not believing every spirit but testing the spirits and remind you that you have always been Spirit-filled since salvation.
It's also obvious to me and others that you have never been taught what Roman 8:26 means.

Of course we have been Spirit filled since our salvation when we were Spiritually born again from above. No one is disputing this.

1 Corinthians 14:1-33 Paul teaches about the use of tongues within the assembly and also in our prayers. When you pray in tongues your spirit is in direct contact with God who is Spirit. When you speak in tongues you are talking to God by divine supernatural means as Satan can not buffer your prayers while you are in the Spirit.

KJV 1 Corinthians 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays.
Amplified Bible reads, My spirit, by the Holy Spirit within me prays.

Nothing out of control here as we are discussing this subject in the unity of love, even if we disagree with each other.

What are your thoughts about using tongues in the church and in your own prayer closet?

Some believe Spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit were only for the Apostles and not for today, as others believe they are still for believers today.

Yes, always as a testimony from God that we are saved.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

That is why we are warned not to grieve the holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Keeping the faith is the good fight for why I am against that "second blessing" or any other phenomenon where believers believe that is the Holy Spirit being received again when He has been in them since salvation.

I do not doubt those I see as going astray are saved, but scripture points to a falling away from the faith and so if that is not that in these latter days, what is?

2 Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Yet the apostle John had written verse 2 as confirming that there were mor disciples of Jesus than that of John the Baptist.
Revelation 2:18-25vwas warned to repent or else be cast into the bed of the coming great tribulation.

Those disciples that stop abiding in Him & His words, will also be cut off; note verse 6 in John 15:1-8

Jesus is warning all believers that they can be cut off in being left behind to have their portions with unbelievers and yet He still refers to the ones cut off as His servants because they are getting stripes per the knowledge they had for not being ready and lesser stripes for lack of knowledge for not being ready, but His servants are getting stripes still in Luke 12:40-49

Any iniquity ( heresy) on that foundation that denies Him, is the same as verbally denying Him; Titus 1:16 for why He would deny them ( 2 Timothy 2:12 ) but even if we believe not in Him any more, He still abides per 2 Timothy 2:13.

So when Jesus is denying these professing believers in spite of all the miracles, in Matthew 7:21-23 for why they lose self control and fall like that ( Matthew 7:24-27 ) for not listening to His words that He is the only way to come to God the Father by, Matthew 7:13-14 & John 14:6 as it is because of climbing up another way via the Holy Spirit, is why they wind up following a stranger's voice, tongues with no interpretation and thus assumed for private use John 10:1-5

Those left behind are of the kingdom of heaven as they were of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1-2, but He denied them as knowing them because they were out to the market getting filled with oil ( Holy Spirit ) continuously for why they were not ready to go whereas the wise were ready as Spirit-filled since salvation.

The call to depart from that iniquity which those whom have gone astray at that church at Thyatira in Book of Revelation, do utter the depths of Satan for which they speak in verse 24 of Revelation 2:18-25, is I believe that call to all believers that have gone astray in these latter days for believing every spirit that comes over them to be of God when the testing of the spirits puts Him in us since salvation so we know that is not the Holy Spirit coming over us again in verses 1 thru 4 nor that tongue it brings in verses 5-6 at that so called "second blessing" per 1 John 4:1-6

I do not see how these scriptures can apply to anything else but what we are discussing about.

You & I have always been Spirt-filled since salvation for why we are always saved, but Jesus is warning believers to be ready or else, because like the church is supposed to excommunicate unrepentant believers not found abiding in Him & His words, to not even eat with them note verse 11 in 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 then Jesus will do the same when gathering those for the Marriage Supper above, in spite of those saints not ready as left behind, as still saved.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;
but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

It's also obvious to me and others that you have never been taught what Roman 8:26 means.

Of course we have been Spirit filled since our salvation when we were Spiritually born again from above. No one is disputing this.
Some do. This is a quote from another Christian forum's Statement of faith; & the staff there have not answered yet to clarify it.

Quoting ~~~~"Baptism
We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (1 Corinthians 14), is for all believers as promised by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:11), Jesus (Acts 1:4-8), and Peter(Acts 2:38-41). The fulfillment of this promise was witnessed by early disciples of Christ (Acts 2:4, 10:44-47, 19:1-6) and operates in many present-day disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ." ~~~ end of quote

There is one member that is here from that forum that does not speak against it but shared his experiences as if defending it.

So can you say that all are speaking & meaning the same thing here?

Is there a thread to clarify your position or the forum's position that the forum does not infer nor imply that all believers will be blessed to speak in tongues at this baptism with the Holy Ghost at our salvation to put any believer's mind at ease? Hopefully you can see the start of my concern, but I dare say this estra phenomenon is the apostasy.

When you only look at 1 Corinthians 14:14, I can understand that misconception but it is a misconception because of verse 13 for what Paul is actually meaning in verse 14 as Paul is praying someone else will interpret so he will understand that tongue and benefit from it for that tongue to be fruitful to himself.

1 Corinthians 14:12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

Paul is not saying he is praying in tongues but praying while the Holy Spirit s manifesting tongues through him so another would interpret that tongue so he would understand it and benefit from that tongue as well for his own edification not just for the church which is why God's gift of tongues can never be for private use.

KJV 1 Corinthians 14:14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays.
Amplified Bible reads, My spirit, by the Holy Spirit within me prays.
As you pointed out, it is Paul that is praying while speaking in tongues, not the Holy Spirit praying wen the Holy Spirit s manifesting that tongue in the assembly that needs interpretation so Paul would understand it & be edified as well as the rest of the church.

Nothing out of control here as we are discussing this subject in the unity of love, even if we disagree with each other.
Losing self control & falling in those slain in the spirit and holy laughter movement is "nothing out of control"?

I fail to see how you can say that. I have seen those seeking another baptism with the Holy Ghost by that sign of tongues fall like that also back in the earlier days pf my life before they call it now as another baptism with the Holy Ghost with evidence of tongues or as that "second blessing".
What are your thoughts about using tongues in the church and in your own prayer closet?

Some believe Spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit were only for the Apostles and not for today, as others believe they are still for believers today.
I believe Jesus would have us pray normally to know what we had prayed for so we can give the Father thanks in Jesus's name for known answers to prayers.

I cannot see how that can be done by believers when they do not know what they have prayed for when praying in tongues.

Like everyone else, I suppose my ideas are to quote scripture. Although the last post just seems barren of quotes.

Private use of tongues:
The lack of interpreters leads to private use.

1 Corinthians 14:25 kjv
25. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

Talk to himself? I thought that was a sign of mental problems? There again traditions can be wrong.
Talk to God?
Revelation 3:20 kjv
20. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

The Lord with his disciples at the table had conversation.

Most of my tongue use was at first private and somewhat frustrating.

I would read:
1 Corinthians 14:13 kjv
13: Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

So I prayed.

Tongues then English. Scared I would commit some terrible sin.

That developed into as I prayed in tongues I would hear English. Still worried.

Then finally at frustration times, the groans turn to tongues and that rapidly to English. Those words I could look up in Strongs. And later google. Then I had things I could share.

In Church:
Most of time I do not agree with what I hear in Church. My interpretation is off. I have talked to others that got what I gotbut kept silent usually. About the time I get a big ego I see disaster loom.

My posts are often a mix of these processes.

There are sure more spiritual gifts. Discerning spirits is not a human gift. Explaining the spiritual gifts with the carnal mind, just does not work.

If you really look into human body symbolism, it gets clearer, but then who does human body symbolism? Why pagans. The pagans do not read Genesis and hear we are made in the image of God. Oh how much I long to share.

Tongues are for edification in the assembly as one speaks in an unknown Spiritual language given by the Holy Spirit and another, given by the Holy Spirit, the interpretation. I use to go to a Pentecostal church where tongues were spoken every single Sunday, but I had my doubts at times that some were truly not given by the Holy Spirit, but only through those caught up in the emotions of worship and praise time as I could not feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and what was interpreted made no sense, but everyone went along with it.

In my private prayer time I do pray in tongues for things I really do not know how to pray for and my prayers are always answered. Sometimes I even sing in the Spirit as the Holy Spirit consumes me. It's like being in the presence of the Lord.

So many scoff at this, but only because they have never been taught or experienced this Supernatural act of the Holy Spirit. The first time I saw this in a church service I thought those people were nuts, but when I began to learn is when I began to understand.

Where did I say any different, other than our own prayer closet which is different.

First it is only you that has been stating another baptism and some second blessing. If you do not know what the Baptism of Christ is you need to go study that in Acts 10:44-48 as it is for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

Second, being slain in the Spirit is Biblical and happens when you are overcome by the Spirit of God as you can no longer stand in His presence as many, including myself, will testify of this. 2 Chronicles 5:14; Ezekiel 1:28; Daniel 10:5-18; Matthew 17:5-6; John 18:6; Rev 1:10-18

You are missing out on some beautiful experiences of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Vessels can leak if the hols are not properly covered and maintained. A vase can show signs of cracks, after being put through its paces, or careless activity is caused to that vase. The best thing to do is take care of that vase, and to take it to the maker for maintenance from time to time. The maintenance of the case depends on the carelessness of the owner. Spiritual strength is made through maintenance, and always using the warranty. Spiritually speaking. Once you show care and maintenance for that vessel, it will be filled by God and used by God.

We are vessels. Perhaps we spot our leak and repent. Sometimes we leak so bad someone else spots the leak and comes to us and seeks to restore us. Sometimes a group of people come and try and convince the leaking vessel. Finally the vessel may be removed till repentance comes.

Of course church discipline is not discussed very often.

Modern medicine. Do not always like it.

Aneurysm: major leak waiting to happen.

I suppose a spiritual gift could reveal a coming problem in a Christian.

Simon the sorcerer had an issue that Paul spoke of. Discerning weak areas before total leak occurs may be an example of a spiritual gift in action

5. To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

The person was ultimately restored.

Orderly steps were taken, after a pleas for his return was made.

I can not fully explain how church discipline works, but I do see the process.

When I hear unknown tongues I tend to think of Daniel 5

Although the messagewas written on a wall instead of being spoken, the language was unknown. Wise men of Babylon could not read it, but Daniel gave the meaning.
An interesting side note is he commented on the condition of the kings heart ( word of knowledge ?). Some will say he heard what happened. At any rate interesting parallel to:

1 Corinthians 14:25 kjv
25. And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

The Holy Spirit will always make known what God is speaking no matter what tongue it is spoken in like He gave Daniel to interpret the writing on the wall.

That's probably where the phrase "the writing is on the wall" comes from if you have ever heard anyone say this.
