An interesting perspective

Warning sinners about the wrath of God is our duty, its our commission in life without which the gospel is just another story.. As Christians we have nothing to fear, but what of the unrepentant sinner, what is their fate. Its not fear mongering Willie its the truth. I've preached outside of taverns hang outs the works you preach what the Lord gives you to preach..

tob

Well, you will do what you will do. And that is how it is.

Today, I just can't stomach that kind of fear mongering.
Willie,
Preaching the Gospel and "fear-mongering" are worlds apart. While the grace of God and the love of Christ and the free gift of eternal life must be presented in their fulness, the reality and awfulness of Hell must also be presented. Otherwise you have presented a "watered down" and "false Gospel" which is demanded by our "politically correct" leaders and the atheists. Without a balanced Gospel, there is no Gospel. That is why Paul said "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men" (2 Cor 5:10). He also said "Our God is a consuming fire" (Heb 12:29). Also read Rev 20:10-15. This is the eternal reality which sinners (all men) face.

Listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ Himself said, and then decide whether you (or any Christians) have the liberty to suppress this truth (Mt 5:20-30):
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

You could die at any time.
That will be your rapture.
Be ready.

Actually, how does one, "be ready?" Accepting Christ wasn't enough?

Luke 21:28;
being saved is that not ready? what if one is long, dead? if you think that by being ready and knowing is the way then what does jesus mean by the serveants that did his will and were called good and faithful at the judgement?

:hips really guys lets play nice you know we are all going to be spending eternity together...

All I am asking is..... how do you "be ready", other than to do exactly what almost every one of us are already doing right this minute? Did you have some special impartation of knowledge that tells you of a secret ritual, or something, we can add to what Jesus already did to make us acceptable?

That message is intended for people who are not already Christ Followers..... telling them, "Accept Christ."

I've used Scripture already in this thread.
Did people not read it?
Did people not understand it?
Did people disagree with it?
Is there any reason why people should get offended when I say, "be ready"?
Is it because people are not ready?

I thought you were having some fun .. i guess not ... you are serious ...so so am i back to topic... :hips Admin.

If all you can do is quote some scripture, and not be able to explain what you, yourself, are doing to "be ready"... and can't tell anyone else how to "be ready", then can you honestly say you really have the slightest idea what your quoted scriptures mean in the lives of people living day-to-day?

Christ shall come to appear to them first without sin then at his command and when he has put all his enemies under his footstall he shall turn the kingdom over to the father then cometh then end.

Which is more applicable to this thread than many may realize:

"42 "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. 43 "But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.44 "For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. 45 "Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 "Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes. 47 "Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 "But if that evil slave says in his heart, 'My master is not coming for a longtime,' 49 and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards; 50 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know, 51 and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 25:42-51 NASB)

So, the point is NOT "be ready", but rather, "Keep your eyes on God, and live in love." Right?

yes but notice the wording. thanks I didn't think of this one too. it says if they aren't ready, they are lost. the pre trib doctrine isn't anything like this. but if one isn't ready one is left behind. watch the left behind series and see what they teach. the left behind repent and are saved.

the idea of being ready is that(this chapter) is to be doing the commands of the lord as charged.

I tend to use matthew 25 more then 24 for my positions on the end. though its not easy nor clear with any position. none of us know how it will end. I believe God wanted it that way.
