alabaster what free is saying is what i'm going through right now. our flesh nature always craves sin. we must deny it that.

and that is part of the walk, aka taking up the cross and paul said mortify the deeds of the flesh.

so a dead thing doesnt fight you but a living thing will when you try to kill it.

i dont look at porn much, but i must really watch what i look at(we have a ton of "calender girls" at work that tempt me,and yes you can see through the so called clothing they have on.

i must daily strive not to look, even though my flesh says, heeyyyyyyyy man chill its not like we going on a date here.

My husband took a stand against it when at the steel mill he worked at, on the night shift, he took all the magazines in the lunch room and ripped them up and threw them in the garbage.

Not one person complained about where their filth went.

Unappealing "bride and groom" analogy aside, . . . it seems that what I expected from this question shows an incorrect response "obedience or personal preservation". :nono2
Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

2nd Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Ephesians 5
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Revelation 19
7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Whether you like or not Jesus is our Groom, and we His Bride. The qquestion is will you make yourself ready? He is returning for a spotless Bride unblemished equally yoked. Are you a member of this umblemished Bride? Or are you a member of the Whore?

Ephesians 5
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

''Glory'', is accomplishing what God has put us here on Earth to do" What God has created us to do or become is an equally yoked Bride for Christ, and to be equally yoked with Christ we must become perfected, and sinless in every way

The Bible says in in 2nd corinthians 6:14 to not be unequally yoked. Do you think Jesus is returning of an unequally yoke Bride? No, If you are not equally yoked to Christ when He returns you will not be apart of His Bride.

Interesting. Having a revelation of "heaven" does not mean we will achieve what you've stated here in this life. The dearest, oldest, and most mature saints who walk upon this earth, in their humility, would never claim to have achieved what we can only achieve when we've been glorfied after we've left this mortal body behind. Pride in our personal holiness is often the last sin to go.
This statement is a lack of faith. It is actually the sin Eve commited even before she bit into the forbidden fruit. The sin of believing satan over God. People who say that we are not to make sin a habit, but yet everyone sins, and will not be completely freed from sin until the resurrection. They do not truly believe (have faith in the fact) that the Son can make us free indeed.

--Elijah here: Lets get this straight. Are your posts teaching that this is the truth, or are they saying that this is the way that the person behind the posting understands what is other than SCRIPTURE, and that you have the truth?

You seem to be calling yourself above & beyond what Paul penned in Phil. 3:12-16?? And if so, please clear this up for us??

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
[Matthew 21:22 KJV]

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them].
[Mark 11:24 KJV]

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. ... Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
[John 15:7, 16 KJV]

Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
[James 5:16 KJV]

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
[1 John 3:22 KJV]

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
[1 John 5:14-16 KJV]

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do [it].
[John 14:13-14 KJV]

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give [it] you.
[John 16:23 KJV]

And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to [them which were] not my people, Thou [art] my people; and they shall say, [Thou art] my God.
[FONT=&quot][Hosea 2:23 KJV]

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. [/FONT]

does a person drowning save themselves or does a lifeguard save them?

You and I have gotten ourselves into trouble by giving in to temptation. The Lord had to save us from the consequences of what we did.

However, once he’s done that, it is up to us to resist temptation so we don’t get into the same trouble again. In so doing, we are “working out our own salvation,.†I believe:

[12] Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
[13] for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Phil 2:12-13 RSV

I don't want to because I know it is wrong.
I don't make my choice because it is wrong by the letter of our laws.
I don't make my choice because Jesus told me to.
There are a lot of things for which we have no man-made laws against yet I don't do them because they are just plain wrong.

I make my choice because it is wrong in the eyes of God, I love God, and because of my love for Him I want to do my best to abide by His laws.

Abiding by God's laws out of duty alone is of little value. See Luke 17: 7-10.

How about "not doing to others what you wouldn't want them doing to you"? That is the main reason to not rob banks.

watchman F, . . . this isn't the thread for this, . . . . but the whole notion of "the bride and groom" is not what I would call the best analogy. . . and I never thought so even when I WAS a christian. Feel free to have that analogy if you want, but to many it is way too freaky. How about starting another thread, though, so this one doesn't get hyjacked.

But we have to resist temptation each day, don’t we?

sometimes we dont have the power. i almost gave up on christ over that.
yes i wanted to serve the lord, but it was like i pray nothin.i fast nothin.
sheer torture.

i decided that if God is real and he did deliver me from bisexuality and others things why not this?

so i hung it out and so on. we christians often say that its so easy to overcome sin, like pray poof its over. sometimes it is, other time its just like that 15 yrs struggle.

i hate porn, i dont even want it.

yes my flesh does, but i have the power now to resist sin,

guys at work will often send photos of nude women to each other and show me them, i walk away rather then see them.

i dont miss that at all.

I escaped lust in 1988. Early in 2008, temptation began to become very powerful.

I am in control now, but as you say, I have to deal with my flesh.

The true nature of a man is determined in the battle between his conscious mind and the desires of his subconscious. . . . and that the evil in the subconsious is too strong to resist. The only way to win is to deny it battle.

That sounds like I am supposed to ignore the part of myself that wants to give in to temptation.

That sounds like I am supposed to ignore the part of myself that wants to give in to temptation.

The part that wants to give into temptation doesn't matter. Not everyone denies the battle, but find ways to make excuse for it, finds ways to apologize for it, or feeling a need to be forgiven for it. The conscious mind is one that can be controlled. So if the nature is good, control will prove to be profitable.
