Better to remain Single than to marry a Jezebel

Jezebel = Spouse, Jezebel = the bible character you know. And in this context either a male Jezebel or a female one.
 
You have no way of knowing beforehand what kind of spouse someone will be, so you don't know if you're marrying a "Jezebel" or not. I think a better question would be simply "Is it better to marry or remain single?". Both options have their pros and cons. As for me, I have chosen the latter. I like the freedom that comes with being single.

I think the scripture says it's better to put a brawling women on the roof so that we can watch TV peacefully. Something like that.

Well Jezebel is know for being controlling and manipulative. But people are manipulative only if they feel like they can't hold power in an honest and upfront way. So people become manipulative when they cannot otherwise stay in control of their lives.
So if you have a power-neutral relationship between equal partners where both can openly express their needs and both partners try to meet each others needs there is no need for either to be power hungry, because they will feel like they have sufficient power.
That's why I was suggesting you'd marry a feminist. Because if they stay true to their value those women would consider themselves and their husbands as equally powerfull. Same goes for men, of course. That's how you can prevent your partner from becoming a Jezebel during your marriage.

If, of course, a person is already a Jezebel before you meet them they will probably not understand honesty and equality because through unfortunate circumstances they have learned that only through manipulation and unfairly controlling their spouse they can stay in control of their lives. Re-learning that would often take long, and I'd doubt anyone would endure their behaviour long enough before going insane or filing divorce. But you would probably notice that kind of behaviour before you get married.

From the wisdom of Solomon it could be advocated that it is better to be single than to be married to a "Jezebel".

btw SilverRope, this forum has some sort of script that will automatically recognise Bible references and display their content on mouseover. So you don't need to link them to Biblegateway. Although linking them is awesome. But it's not necessary.
 
Yeah, interesting. Not in a positive way, but psychologically an interesting case.
For example, in 2. Kings 9:30 it is said that when she heard that Jehu, the new king, had come to her city she put on make-up and jewelry and styled her hair. Why did she do that? Was she expecting her death and wanted to go out in style? Or was she hoping she could safe herself by seducing Jehu? Or was it part of her way of presenting herself as a queen, and seduction was her style of gaining power? Or was it a display of her harlot and heathen personality?

Yeah. Jehu stood outside and she was looking out of a window taunting him. So Jehu called for the palace guards, and found 3 volunteers inside who threw her off the window. The Bible said her blood splat all over the place, so she was most likely dead from the fall damage. But just to make sure (or because they hated her so much) they ran her over with their horses and chariots. Later, when they wanted to burry her her body had been eaten by the street dogs and only a skull remained, as was prophesized to Jehu when he was anointed to be king.

Maybe if the tools at her disposal would have included weapons instead of just make up she may have stood a better chance.
 
Seems like other christians find Jezebel "interesting", too.

There's a lot more out there about the "Jezebel spirit". Seems like she's a big deal among American evangelicals.

if that offends you then why didn't you also find her reaping what she sowed from god offensive. that was foretold that she would die in this manner. she was all about killing men and women who loved the lord.
 
Jezebel was a lot of things: a Professional whore! Was an elegant lesbian? Was a dedicated bully? Was a criminal? Was a vile politician? Etc etc Her vice was as great as that of the devils! She killed the people of GOD: sociopath!

Was she strong? NO: she was negatively clever. The difference between her and a king is that she never went to war.

Was she charming:dunno :shrug :confused
