Bible Study Bind The Strong Man.

Indeed Chopper.

It was not a "metaphor" or "humanistic verbiage" that entered into Judas either. It was Satan.

Luke 22:3
Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

And this exactly in accord to what Jesus advised happens in Mark 4:15.

The N.T. is very consistent in these presentations, not just by Words, but by showings. What happened to Peter and to Judas also happened to Paul. Ref. Romans 7:7-13, 2 Cor. 12:7. Same principle.

So, according to you, Satan entered Peter's body, took it over, and spoke to Jesus using Peter's mouth.
And Jesus' response was to address PETER, not Satan.
Mat 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, (NOT to Satan, to Peter) Get thee behind me, Satan:
Jesus cast out demons like people spit out watermelon seeds but YOU think He let Satan take possession of Peter's body right in front of Him, use Peter's mouth to say something stupid, and yet did absolutely nothing.

I agree with Reba. Hey Guys, this is a Bible Study. Your debating is not acceptable by CF.net rules. I used to be a Moderator so please forgive my intrusion and remarks. You Guys are discussing very important issues here and I know that you can discuss without "snarking" each other.

A. Demonic/Satanic influence doesn't require "possession." We're not talking movies here. Theft of Word from heart causing unbelief, not understanding the kingdom, even spiritual slumber/internal darkness are all linked to Satanic influences, INTERNAL.

B. Mark 4:15 is a real principle. Shown in the scriptures many ways. With Peter and Judas in particular. But also with "sin" in any form. 1 John 3:8.

This aspect of scripture drives the freewill camps wild because they

A. Don't see it.

B. Don't understand it.

C. Reject it.

The fourth option is that Satan rejects these facts because they are TRUE and he is an automatic liar and resistor to all scripture and is so IN MAN. I expect very few believers to see these matters or understand them because the internal resistance factor is quite real.

If it's okay, I would add a foot note here. Jesus informed the desciples that He had to leave before the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, would arrive. (John 14, about 25 or 26) We all understand that evil and good cannot reside together but Peter was with Jesus and was not yet indwelt with the Holy Spirit, leaving him open to possession.

Again, apples and oranges. Judas was not Peter, and Peter was not Judas. Judas is called "the Son of Perdition".

There is a fine line between debate and discussion and even a finer line when it's lively discussion.
I hope we don't need a "safe place" here where we won't be offended by someone disagreeing with us.

iakov the fool

Snarks do not need place in a lively discussion... Snarks are not someone disagreeing with us. .. Drop it and drop the snarks .. no more warnings .. no more pleas for member to be respectful
