I think you need to delineate this a little better. The apostles and their successors are not the church. They are the foundations, along with the NT prophets, with Jesus as the cornerstone. All believers together with the apostles and supposed successors are the church.

To get back on topic, the idea of Mary remaining a virgin has absolutely no basis in Scripture and defies a common sense understanding of human nature, Jewish belief, and God’s command. As such, there is no reason to believe that Jesus didn't have half-brothers and sisters through Mary and Joseph.
