Nothing states that Timothy was Paul's "successor," never mind that Timothy was considered an apostle. He was Paul's son in the faith, but we should be very careful to not go beyond what Scripture states.

The kingdom of heaven/kingdom of God is compared to a mustard seed, not the Church. Those two are not the same.
What happened to call no man father?

Hey All,

"If something becomes impossible then it is no longer a requirement" Quote from donadams

Incorrect. If something becomes impossible, then it remains impossible. Impossible is an absolute term.

Any achievements requiring an impossible act is forever impossible.

In the matter of becoming an apostle, it is no longer possible to be an eyewitness of Jesus' resurrection.

Therefore, it is no longer possible to become an apostle.

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz
No you lose the requirement not the apostles

No apostles no church, no grace administered in the sacraments, no one to care for our souls!

In a word no “salvation”!

Hey All,
Nowhere in Scripture does Timothy call Paul father.
Paul is not so restricted in calling Timothy his son.
Jesus never said call no man son.
He did say, "call no man father."
Every time you call a priest father, you are violating what Jesus taught.

There are only two I call father.
My dad, and God the Father.
That is all who are allowed that title.

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

Hey All,
There are no apostles living today.
There were twelve.
Their names will be on the twelve foundations of the wall of the new Jerusalem.
To say there are more than twelve makes what John wrote a mistake.
John wrote "the twelve," not twelve of the.

How can one, or a church, change what Revelation says and not incur the penalty in chapter 22?

Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

To say there are more than twelve, is to add to what Revelation says.

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

Jesus also said to call no man Rabbi.
Yet He allowed Himself to be called Rabbi.

Maybe we should start plucking out our eyes too?

Hey All,
The term "apostle" means one who is sent.
Jesus is an apostle in terms of being sent by God the Father.
Only in this context can He be considered an apostle.
The author of Hebrews was probably aware of shaliach; the Jewish practice of representative envoys, who were sent with full authority from their senders.
Jesus was sent with full authority of the Father.
Jesus was the Father's shaliach, or envoy.

Now what is/was the criteria to be an apostle?

Acts 1:21-22 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

To be qualified as an apostle the individual had to be with them from the beginning of John's baptism until Jesus' ascension.
They also had to be a witness, with them (the other 11 apostles), of Jesus' resurrection.

Scripture is the final Word on the subject.

Nobody today has the authority to appoint apostles.
Nobody today can meet the requirements.
And that's the way it is.

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

Acts 1 does not say it applies to all apostles

It says bishoprick and the bishops are the valid successors of the apostles

Call no man father / teacher is this absolute

Hey All,
Please show me another criteria.
Until then, this is the criteria set by the eleven remaining apostles.
Since that is the only criteria in Scripture, it is the only criteria we can discuss.
We cannot make something up because we don't agree with it.

Also, we cannot change father to teacher.
They are not the same and you know this.

A father is one who sires his progeny.
A teacher is one who instructs.
You have to know this Mr. Adams.

Matthew 23:8-10 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

This is Jesus talking to His disciples and the multitude around Him.
He is not answering a question.
Jesus is making a statement.

Why does your church do what Jesus said not to do?
Because men like titles, don't they?
Calling a man, who in reality is just a man like me, father automatically sets up a false hierarchy.
It is capitulation without a reason.
Why?

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz
