Leaving Unclean Spirits Behind, To Walk In The Fear Of God, Part 2

parasone-unbenannt-1-1.jpg

On Mt. Sinai, the Israelites experienced the fear of their God as never before. He manifested Himself in Power on the mountain, and it terrified the people so badly that they refused to draw near:

18 Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. 19 Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” 20 And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” 21 So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was. (Exodus 20:18-21)

This was the setting Peter was using as a backdrop for his current message. They had exited Egypt and were now preparing to sojourn towards the promised land, yet they would need to learn the fear of God, for the enemy would soon be coming to tempt them, and holiness would require that they distance themselves from the unclean spirits of Egypt:

13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. 15 But as He which hath called you is Holy, so be you Holy in all manner of conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am Holy." 17 And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, then pass the time of your sojourning here in fear. (1 Peter 1:13-17)

"Girding up the loins" meant "Prepare to depart from the evil spiritual influences of your past," setting your hope instead for the grace to be brought at Christ's appearing. But his death on the cross had been necessary to redeem them so there was a fear involved, as Peter hinted at in the next passage:

17 Pass the time of your sojourning here in fear. 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed from your vain conduct received by tradition from your fathers with corruptible things such as silver and gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, 20 Who truly was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 who by Him do believe in God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God. (1 Peter 1:17-21)

As talked about in Part 1, people were dying in New Testament times, especially those turning back to sexual practices instigated by unclean spirits, and false versions of Christianity like the Gnosticism Simon the magician introduced. Not coincidently, he got some of the magic and religion he practiced from Egypt.

Worshipping The Golden Calf

As stated in Part 1, the gods the Egyptians worshipped were demons. This is seen not only in the way they were often depicted as half animal/ half human (a trademark signature of the demons of witchcraft and false religion), but in the behaviors these demons encouraged the Egyptians to engage in, including bestiality with animals associated with the worship of certain "gods." Such was the case with Banebdejet, the god worshipped in the city of Mendes. He was depicted as having the head of a ram and the body of a man. A "holy ram" was designated to represent him, kept in a sacred enclosure by the temple priests, and treated like the god himself. This ram was "supped 'with unfailing regularity [upon] the finest wheaten flour . . . seethed in milk, every kind of confection made with honey, and fowl either boiled or baked." It was also bathed regularly in warm water, anointed in sacred oils, fumigated with fine incense and bedecked with jewels, and then brought forth on certain occasions. As one article states:

Foreigners, among them Hellenic and Roman chroniclers, penned salacious stories about the cult of the Living Ram, which may or may not have had a grain of truth to them. Banebdjedet and His ram had the epithet “Fornicating Ram Who Mounts the Beauties.” This not only refers to the fertile aspects of the god, but suggested something perverse about the Ram Lord and His living avatar’s sexual proclivities. In addition to mounting ewes from his harem, the Living Ram, it was rumored, also had sex with human women. Pindar refers to “Mendes, on the overhanging sea-cliff, at the farthest horn of the Nile, where the he-goats fornicate with women.” And when Herodotus visited the city during the mid-5th century BCE, he heard report of a recent public spectacle in which a ram had intercourse with a woman. And based on a mould from the site itself which Donald B. Redford helped to excavate, such coitus a tergo had become a motif in the art of the day. (Shadows of the Sun, Rssing.com)

This is why the Lord specifically forbid it in Leviticus, because the Egyptians were practicing it, and this was the setting behind what happened with the worship of the golden calf.

32 Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” 2 And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 4 And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!” 5 So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.” 6 Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings. And the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 7 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’... 33 And the Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. 34 Now therefore, go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, My angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit for punishment, I will visit punishment upon them for their sin.” 35 So the Lord plagued the people because of what they did with the calf which Aaron made (Exodus 32:1-2, 4-8, 33-35)

The worship of the golden calf was being inspired by yet another demonic spirit, as is obvious from how the calf was worshiped in Egypt in a number of forms, including the half man/ half bull god named Mnevis pictured below, whose worship was commensurate with the time of the Exodus.

Thus, by eating and drinking and then "rising up to play" (an expression containing sexual innuendo), the Israelites were simply gravitating in the same directions the Egyptians had through worship of these "gods." They were receiving help and inspiration from demonic spirits who ultimately wanted the Israelites worshipping them in the place of the True God of Heaven and earth.

Evil In The End-Times

So what is happening in the church today? Satanism is permeating Western culture with increasing frequency now, and ancient Gnosticism, which is simply a "Christianized" form of Satanism repackaged to deceive the naive, is experiencing a growing resurgence as well. One can sometimes not avoid noticing it without turning the television off altogether. Numerous Super Bowl, World Cup, and Olympics celebrations can be pointed to here to argue that Satanism is being increasingly foisted upon humanity whether we like it or not, but a recent performance by Sam Smith at the Grammies left no doubt.

t6-4.png.jpeg

The Grammies are no strangers to highlighting Satanist performers, and this is the typical Satanist MO; occasionally become so blatant that it sends shock waves through the culture that reverberate. The problem, however, is that many younger Christians especially are being increasingly influenced by secular culture as well, and even singing words and lyrics they don't realize are actually being given to them by the darkness.

Meanwhile, Satanists stand fully behind the LGBTQ Movement, and it's no accident. The LGBTQ mantra of "freedom" falls in line with Satanist ideals, and it would appear the growing movement of the Temple of Satan - over 50,000 strong - was specifically created to target LGBTQs. According to Temple founder Lucien Greaves, as stated in a 2019 article:

The Temple is mostly made up of LGBTQ+ people who feel disowned and disenfranchised from the traditional religious institution, saying "we will always fight them, we will fight them to the death to ensure that there are equal rights for the gay community"... According to Greaves, the Temple is also involved in Pride parades around the country and vows to protect and fight for the gay community and their rights. (Satanic Temple Says It Will 'Fight to the Death' for LGBTQ+ Rights. Out.com)

Satan supports sexual depravity because it leads men and women to Hell when all is said and done. But instead of lovingly warning others and speaking out against it, growing numbers of Christian youth are supporting LGBTQ as well, having been deceived by the enemy into thinking supporting it is the "loving" thing to do. But homosexuality is as incompatible with Christianity as bestiality was during the Exodus.

There is also the growing Satanic influence of the porn industry, as related to me by a friend sent me the following dream regarding those struggling with particularly dark and Satanically-oriented material they were viewing online. It was in essence becoming a form of Satanic worship through masturbation, suggesting where the porn industry is now leading people as well, and Christians are by no means immune:

In my dream all I see is brown old parchment paper for the backdrop, like an old scroll. And on the parchment paper are 4 or 5 lines of letters. The letters are in Latin. All the words are blurred and illegible, except for one word. I hear a deep demonic voice read the mantra to me. It is speaking the Latin in reverse, and when it comes to the one word that is unblurred, the demon says it clearly in English, and I understand the word is the title of "Satan." As the voice finishes speaking, I comprehend that the mantra is a dedication of worship to Satan through masturbation. While still only seeing the mantra on the parchment, I know that anyone who dedicates themselves to this mantra, whether someone is using their imagination or physically looking at pornography when they masturbate, they are doing it in front of Satan as an act of worship, and as an offering. They are physically masturbating a few feet in front of Satan because they love him, and it is an inverse offering.

There are also such things as incubus and succubus spirits which can further drive unsuspecting young Christians into the darkness. While these might seem more extreme example, we can expect that the porn industry is becoming evermore overtly Satanic just like the music industry is these days.

In short, the god's of ancient Egypt are resurfacing once more, and some within the church are being seduced as well. The "goat of Mendes" sigil is still used by Satanists today, and an enemy that once had to remain hidden in the shadows is increasingly entering back into the light, and back into public view.

But Joel Chapter 2 promises that the Spirit of God will be poured out in great power once again, and the prophetic gifts will be in full operation, including through dreams and visions. It also suggests the fear of God will be made manifest in the earth once more, for in keeping with the prophecies that go forth, the context says that the moon will turn to blood and the sun to darkness before that great and fearful Day of the Lord finally comes:

And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. 29 And also upon My menservants and My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. 30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; blood and fire and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. (Joel 2:28-31)

Prophetic warnings and judgments will again be executed in the earth, and both the church and the world will again know the fear of God. For those who are wise, it will keep them from going off the deep end into Satanic worship and the Satanist lifestyle, to their own destruction.

Questions And Applications

1. Many Christians have been decrying the attacks upon Christianity going on in huge celebrations like what took place at the Olympics this year. Would do you think is the best Christian response to these things, since they are clearly not going away but getting stronger?

2. How would a Christian best protect himself against the growing temptations rising in Western culture now?

3. Despite the gravity of their sins, love is still the best way to reach those caught up in sinful and/ or Satanist lifestyles. Do you display God's love to such people, and if so in what way?

Just as you're doing. What the pagan world is trying to do, sometimes in subtle ways, and sometimes in obvious ways, should be openly protested and exposed as evil. If we live in a Christian or post-Christian society, there is built into the fabric of our conscience a sense that these things are anti-God and immoral. There is a tendency, if no one speaks out, to rationalize along with the pagans to justify compromise for the sake of self-indulgence and popularity.

I don't know about you, but it helps me to get the temptations out there openly so that I can see it as a battle I must win? Otherwise, it will gradually work its way into my own life. Sin is like that--it preys upon our human weaknesses.
2. How would a Christian best protect himself against the growing temptations rising in Western culture now?

If we get involved in the battle, posting Christian views on social media and speaking out in church and among non-Christian "friends," we stand a better chance of giving ourselves a reputation that to be consistent we must uphold.
3. Despite the gravity of their sins, love is still the best way to reach those caught up in sinful and/ or Satanist lifestyles. Do you display God's love to such people, and if so in what way?

I have to train myself regularly, including on this forum, to be respectful when dealing with those who commit to the Dark Side. Some who are wrong don't know what they're doing, and should not be judged as if they do. It is something we should regularly practice, showing respect for other positions, no matter how "evil" they seem to be.

Sometimes God gives us the discernment, if we ask, to know what is behind somebody's "evil" position. When we spot a particular place where someone has been "damaged," leading to their aberrant positions, we can then show compassison. This helps a person remain open to change.

Thanks brother. This is a "seedy" subject, but very much needs to be brought out into the light. Otherwise, we may find ourselves immersed in it by our failure to cut it off at the pass.

We also need to set boundaries around ourselves so that we don't get too wrapped up in it and its effects. Sorry I have to be pretty general about this. Each person must get from God his own "rules." We each are placed in different places, and have difference levels of competence, experience, and calling.

Exactly. It preys on everybody, and once the collective mind starts declaring evil practices are an acceptable way of life, there's no resistance left. People moan about Hell, and yet fail to understand what happens to mankind when there are no deterrents. They cast all deterrents aside before the flood, and things became so bad that "they desired only evil continually." What kind of world do we have left when there is nothing but murder, rape, theft, hatred, witchcraft, and every other malicious practice on earth going on? Even the faithless spout how "Hell is on earth." Well, they haven't seen anything yet if the Lord should take away all the deterrents, and in many ways the only deterrents in society where moral degeneration is concerned right now are us.

Yeah, and it is a training thing.

You know, we had a long standing member here who was an avowed and openly homosexual woman, and yet she identified as a Christian. She posted me in private that she was leaving because it just wasn't fun like it used to be, when things were more accepting I suppose. I had to tell her that although I am actually very friendly and personable with homosexuals and trans-people in public (most of them anyway), when it comes to this forum it is a place where I hold myself accountable for defending the truth. Hassling them in their workplace may not be appropriate, but here it most certainly is, and that I have a responsibility to speak the word of God on the subject. But I still wasn't saying it hatefully, just that I have to speak the truth here.

It's the same point again. If Christians can't still speak their minds on a Christian forum, where else is there? Church? Eventually they may not even have that either.

Yes, I'm pretty generous in who I speak with also. My 1st 10 years on this media I elected to be on an unmoderated Usenet discussion group who set Jews who didn't want to be evangelized against Christians who wanted to evangelize them. I know this because I knew the guy who set up the group initially, alt.messianic set up by Rob Strom, from about 1999-2009 perhaps?

I learned a lot there until it ran its course and the inevitable trolls took over. That's when I turned to moderated Christian forums because ultimately I see my interest being in reaching out to Christians of all types, who are either purely nominally Christian or in some sort of rut, whether in a cult, caught in a particular doctrine, angry at the church, or heterodox in some way.

I like to try to help Christians recover and find their place in God's Kingdom, getting the best reward they can (which is purely the satisfaction of doing a good job). Anyway, what good is it if a physician only works in a healthy town? ;)

Like what you have to say, brother. Keep it up! :)

1. Many Christians have been decrying the attacks upon Christianity going on in huge celebrations like what took place at the Olympics this year. Would do you think is the best Christian response to these things, since they are clearly not going away but getting stronger?
This verse came to mind.
Joshua 24
14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

We need to keep our children educated. Whether our sons and daughters or nieces and nephews, they need to be guarded and raised up in the fear of the Lord.
2. How would a Christian best protect himself against the growing temptations rising in Western culture now?
This verse in your study stood out to me.
Exodus 20:20
His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin
Perspective is a component of maintaining repentance. The perspective of who God truly is in comparison and contrast to our fleshly ambitions. The power that He holds. I dont have words to help anyone gain that proper perspective, i believe God gives you that when you read His word and it comes alive in front of your eyes and opens your consciousness to fresh depths of truth. But also perfect love casts out fear, so the relationship becomes so intimate that the desire to sin is expunged due to the true love of service to the Lord.
3. Despite the gravity of their sins, love is still the best way to reach those caught up in sinful and/ or Satanist lifestyles. Do you display God's love to such people, and if so in what way?
Praying is probably the most helpful thing i can do at this point. On the other hand, simply treating people with respect also is not too difficult :) i used to evangelize more in the past and it may have been mostly just "brandon" doing it, recently ive been waiting on the Holy Spirit to truly guide my words before i open my mouth.

Lots of good things to respond to here! 1st, I agree that the Lord has to put that hunger in you, assuming we take the 1st step in seriously responding to Him. Then, if we feed on good materials it can help us grow and avoid the Big Mistakes, although even they can be forgiven.

My favorite kings are, besides King David, King Hezekiah and King Josiah, because they were not afraid to clean out *all* of the bad stuff from their kingdoms, knowing that if they compromised, cultic and idolatrous groups would grow up in the absence of any deterrent.

I also am more hesitant to evangelize, since it is in many places an "evil time." Evangelism works better when people are wide open to it. After all, Jesus said that when people are hardened to your words, shake the dust off your feet--there are many others interested in your message.

I like your Exo 20.20 verse. Being aware that God actually sets us up for testing makes it easier to tolerate the ups and downs of Christian living. We have to know what we're up against.

When evil seems to be winning, we know that God is giving it time, as He gives us all time. In the end, all of the injustice will be exposed and judged, and discarded forever.
