Disclaimer: I grew up with three boys and no sisters!
I like chivalry, but I also like my independence. My ex-boyfriend didn't like the fact that I didn't need him to get out and pump gas for me after dark. I hate double standards, for the longest time my parents wouldn't allow me to run down the street to the store after dark unless I dragged Brutus or our older brother with me. Mind you, you can see the parking lot of the grocery store from the end of our driveway. It takes about a minute to run there.
Chivalry is very sweet, but it can get sickening in over abundance. Maybe this is just me because I was raised with three boys. I grew up without my brothers (any of them) opening the door for me. I don't need a guy who gets upset when I hold the door open for him, or one who won't ever let me pay for the date. Guys who get defensive about it annoy me to no end. But the guys who are sweet, and understand my independence I like it from.
And by the way, since when did Brutus become a chivalrist? :smt102 :smt081
