If Christianity is a Delusion, then why are there so many (genuine) people convinced and persuaded by this so called delusion?

How can it be Random?

If you say no one has ever said that, remember who is the main character of Christianity and that he has been called a delusion.

Josef Hey Josef, if our Nation is founded on "In God We Trust", why do people choose other religions that are not founded on the True God of the Bible?

If other Religions besides the Catholic/Judeo/Christian Religion are False religions, then why are we told to respect other religions and respect others' freedom to choose any religion they want to choose?

If God is a delusion, that is all views/versions of God/God's and religious views coming from a view of God are also a delusion.
That means atheists and agnostics, who all have a view of God, are also deluded.
So Dawkins is deluded !

Hey All,
Actually, jcolosi39, the defacto motto America was founded upon is/was E pluribus unim. (Out of many, One)"In God We Trust" was not made official until 1956.

The short answer is freedom. America was founded upon the idea that a person is free to choose who, or what they worship.

The other side of the coin is mutual respect. I respect others' right to worship as they choose. I can point out why I believe a religion to be false, and still respect the person who follows said religion. They also have the right to tell me why they believe my belief in Jesus isn't the true way. We as a country do this because our founding fathers made freedom, both from religion, and of religion, a societal right of the people. (Very radical in those days)

Plus, the Bible doesn't say to beat someone with it to get them to convert. We are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. When we do this, the love of God is revealed to others, and God gives them the faith to believe.

People choose other beliefs usually because Christianity is too easy. All I have to do is receive Jesus. They are told they have to work for their salvation. Christianity tells me to come as I am, and be made free through Christ. Most other religions are bondage; telling a person what they can and can't do. Then they are told what they must do to earn or maintain their religion.

What these people are admitting to is that, in their current state, they are not worthy of an afterlife with God. (And they are correct. Romans 6:23) Then they believe doing good works makes them worthy. (Incorrect) Works do not attone for one's sins. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Belief in Jesus, and His work on the cross, does. (John 3:16)

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

Hi Josef

I agree with your position here. Further, God's word doesn't seem to make any reference to His saving nations, other than Israel. I don't really understand this new 'theology' that's teaching that God is asking us to go out and take over the politics and social functions of the world to be subservient to Him. God wants those who willingly love Him.

God bless,
Ted

In the ussr there was a peculiar form of schizophrenia they’d label people with…sluggish schizophrenia. It was fairly obvious the whole point was to label and invalidate sometimes confine those labeled.
Longer ago it was called a type of pellagra, a vitamin deficiency, and was easily remedied. THen money got involved, and more expensive, less helpful things, that actually made matters worse by far, and sometimes for life instead of temporary inconvenience.

Problems with deficiency ofter contributed to , and might (I don't remember) even cause a delusion.
So, as from the op, so many (genuine?) people convinced and persuaded by anything might be weakened or troubled by something that would not even affect them if they were not lacking in nutrition ?
A most successful health giver a century ago identified by testing some deficiencies that were responsible (he 'proved') for divorce back before divorce was so popular - today there's so much disregard for God's Word that nutrition probably is not so big a factor in people's choices of anything anymore, unless tested and verified of course.

Hey All,
A person's changed life through belief in a delusion is strong evidence that it may not be delusional.
When I was with Sanctuary, back in the 1990s, I observed total drug addicts, and people that society would call dregs, come to Christ. Long hair, unkept, spaced out look in their eyes, would invariably start to change. It was exciting to see God clean them up and change their lives. Some cut their hair; some kept it long. Almost all would come in clean clothes. They would find jobs, and start to become productive members of society. Plus, that spaced out look was replaced with a clear-eyed person reflecting the joy of salvation in their heart.
I don't believe a delusion can cause this change. Joy in your heart, that does not leave, even when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, is the evidence of things not seen. It is evidence of God.

1 Peter 1:7-8 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Amen.

well to me, christianity seemed dumb because of the stories just seemed absurd. i didnt really find much controversial stuff from the bible at the time- leading up to me becoming christian i was honestly just quoting the bible to piss off the socially acceptable mindsets who are clearly siding with LGBT and other societal poison.
i eventually realized that the bible had all the answers to modern problems- which was obviously caused by lack of religion.

the stories for instance where a man was in a whales belly for an amount of days- well, that made me not take the bible seriously. all the stories were really about maintaining faith in god despite how dark everything seems

Yes, without parable Christ spoke not. Hiding the spiritual unseen power of God . Either belly of the whale or heart of the earth living sufferings.(same thing)

Jesus the Son of man Jesus demonstrated the love as the Father bruised the Son of man's heel crushing the head of the serpent. He suffered the pangs of hell called "unto death" (not dead never to rise)

Hey All,
jcolosi39, a lot of people also believe that the WWE is real. Then there was that thing about the earth being flat. So saying something is true because a lot of people believe it is not a good argument for the validity of a subject.

Zeth4500 mentioned Jonah in the belly of the great fish as something unbelievable in the Bible. I agree that it sounds farfetched. I bring it up jcolosi39, because over a billion people on the planet believe this account to be true because of two men.

The first is obviously Jonah. Many people probably thought he was delusional; and the account allegorical at best. But another man came along and said it was true.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus made the account true. We cannot say Jesus was delusional, because his metaphor is what happened.

Keep walking everybody.

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. - John 8:44

Satan has always been a liar.

Over 2,000 yrs ago and people still are talking out Jesus. They also, talked about the coming of the messiah before he was born in 5th century. Hmm....the most antiquities, scrolls, manuscripts, historical records, fragments, codex in the whole world. 99.5% who would of thought.
