Churches must pay taxes

I like Billy Graham but yes he is very wealthy.I don't know what he does with his money.I guess that is between him and God.

I don't believe there's anything in the Word that excuses an individual or institution from paying taxes. That includes the church.

just so you know a church pay taxes. they pay fica, medicare and match them for each employee. they also pay for any property that isn't tax exempt. some own property and rent them out. I know of all the big churches that do that. these are:
the catholic church in city limits mainland side
the largest of the three Methodist churches
the Baptist church that is the biggest
the community Christian church.

I worked for the Baptist church years ago.

my church owed the government 300k in back taxes to the irs, from wages and other things the church is due. a former irs agent ( yes that is right )worked to solve that problem.most of tithing went to that problem. that is why I said if the irs is to tax then much of the tithing from you will go to the irs.this is frsureom a pastor whom stole from the church and also a treasurer not keen or trained on irs laws and paying taxes. this affected peoples social security benefits. I must match my ss,medicare and also federal tax when I work for my self at my independent contractor job.

Actually these people are strange. The only reason majority of them support that churches should pay taxes is that churches are today big business organisations - that make a lot of money (they are being negative here, illegal money, dishonesty etc ) and for this reason they must pay taxes

One thing to realize is the difference between the private wealth of these people compared to their ministries wealth.
All of these people have to pay taxes on personal property and income from all sources including the money they are paid by the ministry.
It is only the church itself or the ministry that does not income pay taxes or property taxes on properties only used by the church for the church. If they have a bookstore, etc, they pay taxes on the income from businesses.
I pay taxes on my income and I don't want my contributions to ministries taxed again by any government entity.
